It's so helpful to hear you talk about these things! I do have an awareness of some of the strange conditions I have around eating but hearing someone else share the exact same rituals/criteria really brings to light how abnormal it is and reminds me that these are things I tolerate from my ED that don't actually have to be entwined in my day if I challenge them
You are so wise and your videos are so so helpful! ❤Thank you for saying all this, it is quite rare to hear these specific aspects of an eating disorder but I relate to many of them. That feeling of restlessness and the need for being "productive’’ still is intense for me. I try to plan everything ahead even when to listen to friends voice memos so that I can do something ,,productive" while listening to them. I feel like whenever I start doing one thing I already feel like I should be doing the next thing…it’s like I can never fully commit and enjoy doing one thing cause I feel like I need to get enough stuff done. Maybe you could talk about that more in a future video? If you relate. I am looking forward to more of these videos, they are eye-opening. Thank you a lot
@@Sertenztan Thank you for your kind words or support, they really do mean so much and I’m pleased that you found this video relevant to your journey. Fantastic message (as always)! You've helped me SO much with recovery and I thank you. Question - do you have any videos about the middle to late stages of recovery? In terms of returning to exercise or walking? I've cut it out completely for the past 6 months and I'm able to eat anything and rest completely now. I don't want to reintroduce movement too soon but I'm looking for advice as to when it would be a solid choice.
@@tuesdaytrainer Hey there, firstly I’m so so pleased to know that my sharing has been helpful to you in your journey and thank you so much for your love and support, it really means the world to me. With regards your question this is a fabulous topic suggestion and I have added it to my list. Hi Emily, do you have any thoughts about navigating the world of ‘ultra-processed foods’ in recovery? The topic seems to be everywhere at the moment about how the UK food system is harming us with unnecessary additives in food, even bread! Sparked by the book ultra processed people; but it seems to be all over social media and goes against the idea ‘all food is good food’
@@lilyp9983 Hey Lily, ok so firstly I think this would be a great question for the podcast that I do with Han so if you are ok with this then please let me know as I think its an important topic for discussion :) A quick couple of points now though would be that 1) what matters most for your whole self and your whole health is that you focus on your path; 2) In the context of ED recovery, more often than not, the foods considered ultra processed are the ones that serve you best (yes in terms of nutritional rehabilitation, but VERY importantly from a neural rewiring perspective as well); and 3) I really encourage you to scrutinise your various social media feeds, and the media you are drawn to consuming because where attention goes, energy flows. The reality is that whilst some people are thinking lots about ultra processed foods etc, lots and lots and lots of people are not. Be aware that brain has a tendency to filter the world according to what it deems to be important (and in an ED this often means that anything to do with diets/restriction/food judgement etc is zoomed in on). Setting yourself up to win in recovery often involves stepping away from the spaces, places and things that serve ED more than they serve your core recovering self. Oooo that wasn’t such a quick few points haha! But I hope it’s helpful and thank you for reaching out regarding this topic. Sending love x
@@emilyspence2961 Thanks so much for your response. Yes of course l would be ok with you doing a podcast episode on this. You are right it is probably my social media channels emphasising it, but I find it hard to switch off from it when told there is scientific studies and evidence that certain ingredients used in mainstream food products can lead to cancer etc 🤯
