God forbid we ever have to face this scenario, but I’m glad you guys are putting out such solid reliable info.
recommendations: 1. get behind a structurally sound wall if you know the bomb is coming 2. close your eyes if possible (the light can blind you for 10 min, up to 35 even) 3. you probably have up to 10-20 min to gather your family and find a safe shelter after the initial drop 4. staying inside or in a covered area that is unlikely to fall or be affected by the heat is smart 5. a medium level nuke bomb's majorly affected areas are in a 2km radius around the drop point
I live in India which is most likely to survive as they don't have beef with anyone except Pakistan and Pakistan is most likely to spare the places where muslim lives and there may be other attacks so i think we will just move to somewhere non- popular for awhile

I did a research paper on the bombing of Hiroshima for my 9th grade History class back in 1979. Most of my information came from the book "Hiroshima" by John Hersey. It contains all the gory details. In my personal opinion, the people who were immediately vaporized were the lucky ones...
Did you see the story about the guy who did that and survived both bombs!! Maybe that's what your referring to, but if u weren't... yea that actually happened
Hopefully none of us will ever need this information...but you never know. I wish the best of luck to all of you, especially those in countries who are currently at war/those who are in an unsafe place. Stay safe, everyone.
When I was growing up in the 1970's and 80's I asked my teacher about surviving a nuclear war. She told me that I lived within 100 miles of several hundred primary strategic targets and less than 10 miles from the Air Force's MAC hub (Travis AF Base). If there was going to be a nuclear war, there was no chance at all that I was going to survive the first strike. The good news was, at least it wouldn't hurt. My body would be totally vaporized even before it started to fall over. Funny enough, this was comforting.
Less impressed by the guy surviving 2 nukes than I am by the fact he survived a nuke and then WAS AT WORK 3 DAYS LATER!! I would’ve taken at least a week off :)
The problem is, it's not just one warhead that hits the city. These new nukes are carrying 8 to 12 warheads for each target. That means, you can multiply this by 8 to understand how bad it would be. 8 would completely flatten metropolitan areas not just the inner city. Then, it all depends on whether they were air burst or ground burst. Ground burst detonation causes tremendous amounts of fallout, whereas detonating above the city causes more damage, but less fallout. If you survive the initial blast, you would need to stay hunkered down for 1 week. In one week the radiation levels already have diminished to a point where it is safe to come out. Radiation goes away relatively quickly. You only need to protect yourself as it falls to the ground, once on the ground it vanishes in a week. Then you have the massive famine that would follow. You would have 300 million survivors here in the states and thats a whole lot of people to feed when you have no infrastructure and no logistics or truckers or stores. Everything has been taken from area stores. There would be no way the government could form operations like FEMA or Red Cross it would be s very horrible time on this planet. You would have literally hundreds of millions of people absolutely starving.
As many people mentioned: now IS the time to think about the Russian's doomsday nuclear torpedos. Great foreshadowing, almost as accurate as the Simpson's, I fear. Great episode, thank you !
Oh wow so im NOT the only one whos been recommended this out of NOWHERE. Thanks youtube, i haven’t been terrified for days already anyway i appreciate it
To all of you who are saying “oh no we are getting this recommended during the Russia Ukraine War this must mean something” It’s because many people started googling stuff like “Russia nuclear bombs” so the algorithm tries to match the currently hot topics. It’s NOT because “RUclips is trying to tell us something”
I used to always say I would head toward projected ground zero before the blast and enjoy a last few minutes looking at clouds. Then I got diagnosed with severe depression and started talking to mental health professionals. I'd like to ask everyone commenting similarly if they are doing okay
I'm in my 70's now and I was taught all this and a bit more at school around age 11 or 12 so that I could help my family at home. Putting heavy furniture against windows. Filling a bath with cold water for cleaning off the dust, etc. Good to hear this info again with an update for the distance covered by these bombs.
Another important tip when trying to wash potential contamination off is to ensure you don't wipe your skin and avoid any water from entering your orifices. This is to minimize any internal exposure because some daughters from the fallout could stay in your body for years as opposed to being on the outside of your body for a much shorter amount of time.

@@dans4270 But they’ll see govt warnings. TBH most won’t survive bc this video doesn’t cover strength or intensity of current nuclear bombs. Unless deep underground in a bomb shelter you don’t have much chance. If survive the initial shockwave you prob won’t survive chemical fall out and if you somehow survive where are you going to get food drugs clean water medical attn etc. Need medical attn? Everything‘s been destroyed and those who survive are deep underground. Most people don’t think these things out. Good luck.
I want to add a couple of things that this video doesn’t cover. The most likely scenario is an aerial burst not a ground burst. Being that this is much more likely it’s a shame the video didn’t cover aerial bursts and EMp. Secondly radiation is not as simple as waiting it out for two weeks. Some highly radioactive particles will still be deadly up to six weeks. Also remember that all outside water sources and air will be heavily contaminated for quite some time.
Tactical nukes would be more ground based for military targets but most cities for secondary strikes would be aerial due to damage being increased for a surface level destruction. I found it odd too that they don't acknowledge that or maybe providing actual truth would scare more people into being underground and surviving...
Quite some time????!!!!!! It’s not weeks or months. It’s like 1000 years look at Chernobyl. no one can live in that radioactive Sinkhole for the next thousand years. imagine the whole world being like Chernobyl. Where are you going to get fresh clean water to drink? where are you going to get food once the supplies Are gone? there will be nothing growing nothing living in the nuclear winter. Darkness forever. no medical aid, all friends dead and gone, air filled with radiation too hot to breathe.
I was eating breakfast in Maui when the accidental missile warning happened. It took a minute to process what was happening, but after I did, I wasn't really all that scared. Crazy to think 2 years ago everything was normal and since then we've had a pandemic, a war, prices have massively inflated and global warming is only getting worse and who pays the price for this.. our kids. I almost feel bad for bringing them in to this cruel world.
I am 19 and in the last two years have seriously reconsidered wanting to be a parent in the future. As someone who was alive during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, I find this clip helpful and informative. I also suggest having 2 emergency preparedness kits on hand: one for home, the 2nd for car. If you don’t have a kit, make one soon. Stay safe and think Peace!

no it isn't. People see the news and they are searching this. And after many people searched this and commented on it, it trends. Just like always with the algorithm. So it's not weird or scary that this gets recommended, it's totally logical.
Because of fear. We were afraid Russia could hit us with our outdated defense system, so we upgraded. Which made Russia scared we could thwart any possible attack so they made a new Satan missile. So we got scared and engineered space javelins, which in turn scared Russia so they made hypersonic missiles, which scared us so we let AI control a missile launcher and guns to try and shoot down the missile. All the whole China won war games with us, which scared us, so we released a pandemic on them, which scared them, so they sent infected people here, which scared us. And now we’re talking about war. There’s a lot of fear in this world, and people do stupid things when in fear. If governments didn’t exist and people were just proud of their communities and minded their own business there would not be fear, and the. You would have be scared and wonder this thought. You go ask a random Russian what they think of you as a person after talking about random things foe a while, then you tell them how you feel about them, you will notice neither of you have fear or anything but humility toward one another, but your both expected to pick up a gun and shoot at each other when your government is scared they don’t have the upper hand. Who’s evil on the situation? You, the Russian, or the governments of both countries?
Timely recommendation. I'm a 15 year resident of Hiroshima City, have met survivors of Little Boy, and observe the yearly moment of silence on August 6. The nuclear option is not an option. Time for the big boys of the world to put down their toys.

God forbid we ever have to face this scenario, but I’m glad you guys are putting out such solid reliable info.
Except, if you watched it from start in a nuclear emergency, you’d have already wasted 14.44 valuable minutes.

recommendations:
1. get behind a structurally sound wall if you know the bomb is coming
2. close your eyes if possible (the light can blind you for 10 min, up to 35 even)
3. you probably have up to 10-20 min to gather your family and find a safe shelter after the initial drop
4. staying inside or in a covered area that is unlikely to fall or be affected by the heat is smart
5. a medium level nuke bomb's majorly affected areas are in a 2km radius around the drop point
You may survive
I live in India which is most likely to survive as they don't have beef with anyone except Pakistan and Pakistan is most likely to spare the places where muslim lives and there may be other attacks so i think we will just move to somewhere non- popular for awhile

It's sad that we actually have to think about this now. I know people keep saying nothing nuclear will happen, but its better to be safe than sorry, this is easily the closest we've been to nuclear warfare in a long time. Be safe everyone, and prepare for the worst.
Maybe if we hadn't quit thinking about all along it wouldn't be an issue but, we should have been thinking about it since 1945

The problem is that if you survive the blast but succumb to the radiation, it's not going to be quick, and it's not going to be painless.
I did a research paper on the bombing of Hiroshima for my 9th grade History class back in 1979. Most of my information came from the book "Hiroshima" by John Hersey. It contains all the gory details. In my personal opinion, the people who were immediately vaporized were the lucky ones...

The Japanese are known for their work ethic. That's also probably the reason for all of the stress and suicide they endure.
Mf literally got the sun dropped on him and showed up to work 3 days later, sigma Male grindset to the max
A week? A month for me lmao
Heck FEMA doesn’t really help much anyway. They just would maybe write out a small check so you could buy something…. But wait… no stores!
As many people mentioned: now IS the time to think about the Russian's doomsday nuclear torpedos. Great foreshadowing, almost as accurate as the Simpson's, I fear. Great episode, thank you !

Another important tip when trying to wash potential contamination off is to ensure you don't wipe your skin and avoid any water from entering your orifices. This is to minimize any internal exposure because some daughters from the fallout could stay in your body for years as opposed to being on the outside of your body for a much shorter amount of time.

Everything‘s been destroyed and those who survive are deep underground. Most people don’t think these things out. Good luck.
IM A SURVIVER BLACKLUNG, A SURVIVER - shitass 2018
I want to add a couple of things that this video doesn’t cover. The most likely scenario is an aerial burst not a ground burst. Being that this is much more likely it’s a shame the video didn’t cover aerial bursts and EMp. Secondly radiation is not as simple as waiting it out for two weeks. Some highly radioactive particles will still be deadly up to six weeks. Also remember that all outside water sources and air will be heavily contaminated for quite some time.
Seriously that's what I wanted advice for.
Tactical nukes would be more ground based for military targets but most cities for secondary strikes would be aerial due to damage being increased for a surface level destruction. I found it odd too that they don't acknowledge that or maybe providing actual truth would scare more people into being underground and surviving...
This video sucks. They're not taking that shit seriously.
Quite some time????!!!!!! It’s not weeks or months. It’s like 1000 years look at Chernobyl. no one can live in that radioactive Sinkhole for the next thousand years. imagine the whole world being like Chernobyl. Where are you going to get fresh clean water to drink? where are you going to get food once the supplies Are gone? there will be nothing growing
nothing living in the nuclear winter. Darkness forever. no medical aid, all friends dead and gone, air filled with radiation too hot to breathe.
This is, frankly, the kind of thing I do not want to survive.

Why? Why would anyone create such destruction? We are our own worsts nightmares. Stupidity.
