i recently went to a writer’s conference and the author of Yellowface, Rebecca Kuang, was there and spoke at a panel and it was so interesting getting to hear about how she wrote the book and other stuff!

I have never seen a thrift store with a book section that big, incredible! If you live near a Half Price Books, those are great to check out. Good book selection and much easier in the wallet. Also, cute tote bags, journals, etc.

I read “On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous” and it’s such a wonderful book. It tells the story of Vietnamese man who struggles with his Vietnamese and “American” identity while discovering his queer identity, and what it means to live for huméales himself. It encapsulates a common theme throughout minority experiences in America and it’s a refreshing take that doesn’t feel white washed or sugarcoated.

I used to practically live in Barnes & Noble, but most of the stores in my area closed. Luckily I got some great bargains on Amazon for downloading and the local thrift shop for hard copies.

Ok I cannot believe you've been sleeping on the thrift store for books, I actually go to Barnes an Nobles an take pictures of the books I'm interested in an then I have the titles ready for when I'm looking at the thrift store, not gonna lie the book store use to be my happy place before reading became popular I remember the days when going to the book store was a peaceful calm leisurely pleasure now it's like going to IKEA on the weekend crazy, I'm happy more people are reading it's great an yeah..but..😭😂 not going to lie some of my favorite books I've found at the thrift store, don't sleep on the dollar store for books too

Your enthusiam for reading is infectious! You made some great choices. MY fav AChristie book (and I have read them ALL) is And Then There Were None (if you can find the ORIGINAL b&w movie, watch it. They just don't makes movies like this anymore). Also, you picked 2 great classics The Great Gatsby and Picture of Dorian Gray, one of my all time favs! Again, the classic version of Dorian Gray w/Peter Lawford is amazing. My other fav classic Wuthering Heights (and the classic b&w version of the movie with Sir Lawrence Olivier is not to be missed). Just turn off the lights and immerse yourself in the magic.
