Good detailed review. I've had mine since May 2023 with no regrets, but I would say I've sacrificed a bit of legibility with this one in low light. Its such a good looker though, and performing really well.
I bought my first watch DW-5600BB back in February after seeing your video. So this comment is kind of word of appreciation to your channel. Thank you sir! As for the Orient Mako 3, I've already seen it on the pictures and now seeing your review I think I'm going to take a look at it at my local dealers once it is avaiable. I want to expand my collection with some diver's watch.
Thank you for telling me that, I really appreciate it!🙏🏻 Happy to hear that my content is useful🙂 That sounds like a good idea! No pictures or videos can provide the same experience as seeing it live👍🏻
Great review as usual. At this point I feel quite settled with my red dial Kamasu. But I really liked that silver dial, which is a kinda nice change from mostly dark dials usually on divers. And of course it's always interesting learning about new Orient models.
Thank you! The red dialed Kamasu is a beautiful watch! I also think that the silver dial is a refreshing change. Glad to hear you found it interesting :)
I really appreciate that you mention your own wrist size, exactly equal to mine, so this video has really made me sure that I will buy this watch. After years with dozens of classic black dial divers, I experimented with what Seiko called a champagne dial on their recent 38mm series and found that I really like it. This Orient has a similar sunburst color on a more substantial case, so it really caught my eye. Again, great review.
@@NordicWatchChannel Seiko just released the SRPK series with a 38mm case on a steel bracelet. There are 4 colors: black, orange, teal green and champagne. I bought the teal and champagne models because I felt color was lacking in my collection. On my 6 1/2 inch wrist, the 38mm sits nicely and the bracelet fits fine even though there are only two micro adjustments. I replaced the bracelet with a nice leather strap which looks very nice.
So excited for those 38mm models! Would love to get one at sime point. The larger ones are a bit too large for my current taste. I’m surprised to hear that there are so few micro adjustments, bummer! Good that it fit you tho!
With your video now I can make my final decision, thanks a lot. Please continue doing the straps change and close captions of each part of the watch please consider doing it for 2 scenarios: 1.- under almost direct sun light and 2.- indoors light. Thanks and regards.
Really happy to hear that! Thanks a lot for the improvement ideas! I’ll consider them for sure. Indoor/outdoor light does make a big difference, so it would be good to do that!
Thank you, I appreciate that! The Orient range is seriously confusing, no doubt. The mako 3 is an official name at least, so hopefully they will start to incorporate other names as well.
Hello, Good review! I have consider this watch. I do like the looks of the watch. I love the the clasp. I also enjoy a beads of rice😊 This video was recommended by RUclips. I am now a subscriber 👍🏻
Thanks for watching and subscribing! Really appreciate the feedback too :) It's a good looking watch! Check out my channel for other watch reviews as well :)
Hi superb review....my favourite part was the strap combinations....can you tell me whether the sunburst dial and lack of antireflective coating affects the readability?...thank you🙂
Hello. Thanks for the video. I bought this color from Amazon today for 205 dollars. My wrists are a little thin, 17 cm. Can I learn how many cm your wrist is?
There's a lot of confusion with the branding. Orient have done quite a bad job at managing it, and the RUclips community has gone quite haywire with the names. People named the Kamasu the Mako 3 to get views etc. and some stores took that nickname in use. This one is to my understanding officially branded the mako 3 by Orient.
Two quiestions, sorry for my English, in the comparotion you put a orient whith ceramic bezel, whats the name of that orient, and you put a seiko spirit whith and alternative brazalet, its great that brazalet, what option of brazalet is that, thanks
No worries! None of the Orients have a ceramic bezel, but the larger one is a Orient M-Force, and the other one with the more glossy bezel insert is the Orient "mini triton", I have reviews on both on my channel, so check them out for more info :) And if you mean the bracelet on the Seiko Sarb033, that's from Geckota :)
Ordered this model about a month or so ago but upon receiving it I noticed that the dial had a scratch on it. Returned the watch and haven’t ordered a new one as of yet.
Bummer! A clear downside with more affordable watches is worse quality control. Sure, it happens even with more expensive watches, but more often with affordable ones. Good thing is that you can return it and get a new one if you wish :)
Hi! Check out the link in the description to find the straps from StrapsCo :) For the other ones you can google CNS watch bands, Vario straps and Hirsch (Hirsch can often be found on Amazon, so I appreciate it if you use my affiliate link in the description for these)
It all comes down to preferences. I would maybe go for a 38mm watch in that case. But that's my preference. I go for 38mm watches with my 6,5 inch wrist.
I do like the day date feature. Could one of the collectors out there tell me what size is the Seiko 5 ? I really like the size but the old eyes aren’t what they used to be. I would like to get one with a little bigger face.thanks.
@@NordicWatchChannel well first thank you for answering. I didn’t know that. I thought that they were all a standard size. Do I measure across just the face or from the outside of the case to the other side? My wrist measures 6 3/4 to 7 . The crystal is measuring 29.5 mm across. Not the watch body which is 37.4 mm. Best I can see on the model numbers are. 7009-876A 7009-3170 A7 7502-J026A4 I just think that I would prefer a larger face that I could see easier.
There are a few different measurements. The most common one is the diameter. This is measured from the outside of the case, but not including the protruding crown. Another quite important measurement is the ”lug-to-lug”, which is the watches length from one end to another, including the lugs where the strap is attached. I’ll have to check out those models and get back to you!
Those seem to be vintage models, all of them quite similar in size. Check out some newer Seiko 5’s (for example on Amazon by searching Seiko 5). There are larger models nowadays.
Most probably yes. Usually the watches come with all links installed, so you'll probably need to remove 2-4 links. But don't worry, it's easy! And if you don't want to do it yourself, a jeweller will do it for a low price.
Pressed clasp and hollow end links.. micro brands are out there offering ceramic bezels.. solid end links.. milled clasps.. sapphire etc.. I like orient but they need to do better for the price
Brands like this can offer competitive specs since they don't have marketing costs etc. Time will tell how they perform after years of usage. I have my own personal suspicions that they might aim to hit the "enthusiast sweet-spots" AKA all the specs you mentioned above. Then maybe cut costs on other things. But like I said, time will tell! Sure looks like a good deal :)

An excellent successor to the traditional Mako II. I'm highly inclined towards rhe blue, looks very fresh and pleasing.
For sure! I’d say the blue one is probably the ”safest” choice. It would be my second choice. Maybe the first one if I’d choose again.
I wear a Blue Mako 3 with a "22mm Rollball II Watch Band for Orient Kamasu" from StrapCode as my daily driver and I am loving it.
Very good review. Thank you for the strap pairing I found that very helpful.

With gold hands and chaptering frames, no day-date would be 'go to' for me. Recently, Orient released 40 mm divers. That's nice to see too.
No-date would be interesting. Yes I saw those Orients! Very compelling models!
Hi superb review....my favourite part was the strap combinations....can you tell me whether the sunburst dial and lack of antireflective coating affects the readability?...thank you🙂
Maybe sometimes! Makes the readability a little worse, but I've always been able to read the time nonetheless :) And thank you for the kind words!
The only orient I have ever liked is the saturation 300mm diver. One of my favorites. If they updated it I’d snag one right away.
It looks like an absolute beast! Very nice. Hadn’t heard of it before.
I’m having a hard time deciding between this and the burnt orange/red colour as my first watch. Any suggestions?

Good points! Orient provides some great value for money :)
At this price I'll stick to the iconic Kamasu. The better crown in not worth that massive price jump.
You've definitely got a point there!
22mm is such a mistake. Orient should've went with 20mm for the updated release.
That could have worked! The 22 mm is a bit bulky.
Or a 22mm that tapers down to 20-21mm.
Wrong … 22mm is the sweet spot for most wrist sizes.
• 20mm is too small for most men.
• 24mm is bulky for this size case.
@@krasnaludek298 90% of watch enthusiasts with absolutely disagree with you. Hence, why the great majority of watches have 20mm lug width.
Nope, not for me. On a 42 case, need a 22mm bracelet. 20mm looks skinny on my arm.
