Once you get started laying drip irrigation, you really do realize how easy it is to lay down. We had a company come and put in a sprinkler system, but we’ve laid all of the drip ourselves. A friend wanted to lay drip and asked me to come over and help. When I got there, she had already laid half her line and was tickled pink!

We've got an irrigation system that was professionally installed and it was ridiculously expensive. We added a container zone a few years ago and that was really pricey. Because of you, I'm going to DIY tie in some containers. (I've already got the materials and I'm tackling it this weekend!) Because of you, I'm now considering another DIY project of adding drip to the bed at the rear of our property. What I'm really admiring (aside from all of the labor that went into this project) is the way you mapped out how to make the irrigation work. While I'm the handy one in my family, I am in awe of how you just do all of this in a matter-of-face fashion! Well done!

Nice of you to share your efforts! I do run watering hoses for the gardens here at the house in the warm Seasons here in Northern CA. I have a vegetable garden where I need to initiate above ground planters for the vegetables which grow outside of the Herb garden where I have two small yellow rose bush in two of the corners of the herb garden then a raspberry and a blackberry plant in the other corners. I found that the mint is growing strong and growing in and outside my herb garden.

This was amazing to watch, I have a great appreciation for the work that has gone into putting drip tubing in, I know it has got to be so much better in the long run not having to run around watering things, my yard isn't big enough to do this, maybe I could do a little in my back yard, I just run a soaker hose down the middle of my flower beds and that covers it all nicely. I'm looking forward to seeing part three of this series, thanks Laura to you and Aaron for all you do to bring us such great videos with great content. Hope you consider leaving the clippings in the dirt and mulching over them. Helps improve your soil. Drip tubing is great until it starts clogging up from hard water and roots, or you dig into it because it becomes lost in the mulch. I imagine it is a necessity there. But I also suspect you will be repairing it and unclogging it a lot in a few years. Do you use expanded shale to help your soil there? We use a lot of it in Texas. It looks like gravel, but it improves clay soils and you only have to add it once. It has worked well in my clay soil.

Thanks so much for the input! It means so much to find good help! I think you know well that you're right on this issue! I ran 250' of 1/2" brown drip with 12" spacing between emitters in a grid, DIG Corp had it rated for 289' of use I thought, so I figured 250 was under that max. But I see elsewhere to only use 1/2" and 12" emitter spacing up to 200 feet, so I'll take some lines out. It sure goes fast, doesn't it?! I should have bought 3/4" I think. Oh well, gotta start somewhere I guess!! Haha! Thanks again for the support!!

@@melmil34 Good points! And I've noticed that too. Unfortunately I cut back my drip system from 250' to 200', and it barely covers half the garden, and still not enough pressure in the system, even without pressure regulator, to make enough of the emitters work. So some of my annuals (Supertunias) have none of the nearest emitters on two lines working. So I either cut down more covering only 1/3 of the garden, and use 3 zones in the garden, or throw it all away and just use the one $25 sprinkler that always worked. Ugh. Learning curves are expensive. Thanks for your replies and support

Thank you for sharing how much acreage you have! That is definitely my number one question -- I have no sense of scale on either your property or your parent's property and I'd really like that context.

Hey! I believe I heard you do a radio commercial for Proven Winners. At least I think it was you! I caught the last bit of the commercial and it sounded like you at least. If so congrats on being their spokes person! I heard it on 1010 wins where it serves our tri-state area..NY, NJ Connecticut..

It’s coming together very nicely. From your comments, I can tell it’s going to be a interesting mix of formal structure and whimsy.

Love your gardening tips, I don’t enjoy that u use so much water. Would love to see u incorporate more native design and tips with less water requires and wasted.
