Laura that's a great design...you got some curves in there it looks so good but I can imagine the softness and color contrast of some lavender...so exciting...I have been redoing my gardens after having a stroke over 10 years ago and I dont have a lot of income but I have managed to redo quite a bit by buying 5 very small pots a month it is starting to look gorgeous with a few different salvia aduba, butterfly bush lots and lots of plants you have spoken about my next job I'd to start collecting bulbs to add drifts and buy a few evergreens for my winter interest but thankyou for teaching me to grow one patch at a time years ago I would have to have the whole lot done together now I pick a pocket of my garden and plant and change until I like it so I'm calling it pocket gardening so thankyou from the bottom of my heart for teaching me how to pocket garden it was overwhelming but a little bit everyday has given me my happy beautiful place.

Wow Laura and Aaron, I can only imagine what it is going to look like once it fills in, I'm loving the design and I think lavender planted in the curve would be spectacular. I think the way you have the ends work well, I think putting a cement square would take away from the lines and design you have going on. I'm just loving it so much and I'm so excited to see it as it grows. I have been trying to tackle just small sections of my yard at a time, although my yard is tiny in comparison to yours, but I love it and it fits me. Thank you so much for this video it was so much fun to watch, see you in your next one, bye for now.

Beautiful ! ~ I agree, that area does not need a large statue. I would NOT place any urns/containers at the beginning of the brick path either . . . It doesn't need it, too busy. It will only divert attention from the GORGEOUS urns/plinths. ~

Hi Laura and Aaron! You two make such an awesome team! I like what you did with the sprinter boxwoods and the cone shaped shrubs. It looks so nice! I'm anxious to see what else you do later on. I like your idea for the lavender and roses. That will be so pretty! Facing the large urns, what about putting some smaller cement pots to the right of them? As far as a large piece at the end of the walkway, I agree with you. If you could find just the right bush, or small tree, that might work. I know you'll the find the perfect thing to go there. Thank you for sharing!

We have a small yard (2500sqft ish) and are trying to landscape it. This will be our 4th summer at this house. 1st year we got rid of moss from the walk way, kept the weeds mowed and edged around the walk way and house. 2nd year we tore out all the dead plants and shrubs from around the foundation to create a foundation garden. Last year we had a baby at the beginning of spring so we just maintained and this year we’re hoping to go in hard. We got rid of 1 dying tree which has created so much more air flow and light. Hoping to get rid of another, add to our foundation garden, move the shed, create a “patio” space at the side of the house where the shed is now and possibly grade and reseed the whole lawn area (in the fall). The lawn may need to wait another year of the shed and patio don’t get done... but those are my goals!

You two work so well together, I'm looking forward to seeing the next steps and how you prune those Sprinter Boxwoods. You guys have an absolutely gorgeous property! It's amazing to see the progress you've made so far in 3 short years along with having Benjamin in that same time frame. You both are very inspiring! I planted the "stinky" English Boxwoods about 30 years ago and it's time for me to pull those things out and plant some of these Sprinter Boxwoods, so I can enjoy my backyard in the spring again.

THANK YOU so much for putting it in perspective!!!!! I get impatient when I don't get to plant anything and it's just about prepping the soil or removing invasive vines or pulling weeds. My husband and I bought an almost 100 year old Colonial and it took me a solid year to get a "feel" for the types of gardens I wanted. That pesky prep work pays off in spades, it's just hard to focus on that when you're in the thick of it!

Wonderful you finally have the curves you always saw in this spot. As a floral designer and educator for over twenty years the power in design always shines through with the use of odd and even numbers, which gives an even flow within any design/arrangement. So with that being said I see that you have two black arbors within your garden, why not introduce one more black arbor at the far end of your brick pathway! Then you've introduced an odd number which always stands out.

Omg its lookin so good!!! 😍 I think a nice bench/seating area right where that "5th urn" would be would look sooo cute and perfect outside the veggies and the walkway meets right there, and then the path would have 2 destinations now, yes?? Please?? It would be perfect?? And I'm vicariously living my life thru you and your garden lol??!!

I absolutely love it I think it's gorgeous I love the formal look and the swoop around the trees was just in genius I think it gives it such a warm field even with the formal formality of it I cannot wait to see your additional plan tanks

Good morning Laura! Your design capability is so wonderful. It’s all about detail and a keen eye. I am a crafter and my eye is always drawn to beautiful detail or....LOL....terrible detail. My hubby laughs at me when we’re watching a movie and I start pointing out the blatant differences in hairstyles or outfits between scenes. Great to see you! Where is Benjamin and your new pup? Love them too!!!

The puppy (Molly) and Russell were not getting along. At all. So she gifted her to (I think) her sister-in-law who has a bunch of kids who can give her all the attention she could want.

Jake Jones Thanks Jake! I have four dogs and have given them extensive training which means that you must devote hours upon hours of precious time. At least Laura knew what was best before Molly was out of control. Thanks for answering. I appreciate it.

OMG!!! Great design. I'm not a professional, just a home gardener, but I too designed my yards. I love your design, I love how you came up with it, the decisions you made. Wish I could see it in person. So awesome!!! I love everything about it!

Ah! I’m in love! Trying to convince my husband to let me spend this big of an investment in our small backyard. But you’re right Laura! You have to prep first, and next year we need to get the whole yard graded and drainage fixed before I go crazy with putting in a formal space.

Pretty design. The lavender and roses will add so much! As others have said, you've got a perfect venue for additional benches! I hope you'll include a water feature somewhere along your walkway. It's always great to watch you guys work on a project together! Take care. God bless you.🌾💜
