  • Join us on our first day's walk out of Seville where we left the congestion and pavement and made our way to Castilbanco. We did a double stage to maximize our time on the trail.

Just watched your video, 25 miles a day wow I hope you can keep that up. I found your enthusiasm at the start of the of the a complete contrast to your tiredness by the time you reached the hotel. Your video is not the type of video I would normally watch but you are going to pass very close to the area we moved to from the UK 9 yrs ago, I'm interested in your comments on the area in future videos.👍

In Spain, and Europe in general, tipping is voluntary, if the service is good, 2 euros is enough. Waiters in Europe are paid, they do not depend on tips, it is a different concept from the USA, although one detail is appreciated .

yes, we tip the waiters in europe about ten percent or less or more according to the way they work and treat us, i alway tip generously because i know how hard threir job is, sometimes starting very early or working late at night, sundys and festival days please do not be stingy. buen camino and greeting from an old swiss lady living on the eastern sea

Thank you for sharing your journey. I have been looking for a more solitary route with more Roman history!
Tipping... I would say that the Europeans are paid a living wage and a standard US 15% tip is not necessary. If you have a few coins among the change, it is ok to leave the coins behind, but don't feel that the person is not being paid enough without your tip.

Most of the servers you meet in Western Europe are on minimum wage and usually on seasonal work permits. So yes you should time.

I agree! Like Donna said, if we have it we should bless others. Thanks for the comment!

Buen Camino. I'm hoping to walk at least a decent chunk on Via de la Plata in September/ October. Can you remember where that log river crossing was? I camino by wheelchair so that would be a challenge that is probably worth avoiding.

Awesome! I am excited about your journey. The bridge in question was in between Seville and Sanitponce. There was a road but it was flooded so we just took the wooden bridge next to the road. We were there in February which is not as dry as September, so maybe you may not have to have too much of a work around! Please keep me posted on your journey.
