    The unravel isn’t animenz’ arrangement but it is quite similar with the exception of the guitar solo bit near the end of the piece where akmigone’s arrangement is much more similar to the original than animenz’. It’s a very impressive arrangement for only 3 minutes of practice 👏

    My favorite video from Akmigone is the opening of Westworld, but this Oppenheimer cover was pretty amazing too, i did'nt know about it!
    Most of the time i am also disappointed when other instruments are added to a piano cover, especially when the pianist is so good, i want to be able to clearly hear everything.
    I specifically remember the Ori game theme covered by Akmigone, it was amazing but the strings were added way too soon to my taste, i would have loved to hear more of the piano alone.
    It is very nice to know that you two are in touch :)
    As always, thank you for the video!

      It’s a tricky one to balance, I can understand wanting to add them to build the piece of music beyond the capabilities of just the piano…but I agree that a piano cover is its own thing, the limits of solo piano are what make piano covers great 😊

    • @matticawood
      @matticawood  Месяц назад +1

      I had to search to see which part of the piece this was 😂 but yes!….
      The section is essentially ascending and descending arpeggios, so I would practice it in two ways. Firstly, work out what the chord is that each bar is outlining. For example, bar 178 is outlining an F# minor triad. Then practice the arpeggios independently as an exercises at a slower tempo.
      Secondly, practice in hand positions, playing very fast but leaving a pause after each hand position group. So in bar 178 the first 4 notes make up one hand position so play those notes fast, then leave a pause, then 4th finger over to play the next 3 notes fast etc.. doing this will mean that you get practice playing it accurately at speed with the correct fingers and you get to know exactly where the fingers cross over. When you can do this comfortable for one chord, then join two groups together at speed etc… 😊

    I have a question. As far as I have seen a few pianists, the sound that comes out when playing on very cheap and ordinary pianos gives a very acoustic and royal piano feeling. But in reality, that sound does not come out of that cheap piano. How do they do that?

    • @boredPianoAdv

      They connect the piano to the computer and use software to re-render the played notes with sounds recorded from a higher quality instruments.
      Examples of such software: Garritan CFX, Keyscape, Vienna Symphonic Library pianos

    There were actually quite a few mistakes in the Tokyo Ghoul one. It was played at about ffff for 10 years and felt like you got shot out of a bazooka and the slapped round the face 10 times then pushed into a ice bath while eating Mcdonalds it was the musical equivalent of a sensory overload. Good playing, some mushy pedalling and incredibly boring to listen too (Overly predictable). But other than that it was good. One thing to keep in mind when creating an arrangement is to have not only a variety of texture but also dynamics, maybe even try changing the chords. It's funny, the only way so called "musicians" can get praise is if they do a "show off" piece, play in octaves in the right hand high up with the melody, octave bass notes with fast arpeggios all while deafening everyone around, it doesn't need to be that, where did beauty in simplicity go? For me saying that's amazing and getting all impressed is the complete opposite of how I feel about it. Just being honest. It was the same for Animenz and I will be consistent with it. Enjoyed the video though. The piece after was better but still similar to the last one, listen to these arrangements back to back they are the same as they go through the piece just getting louder and louder and harder and harder. ( JUST MY OPINION)

      He doesn't do it for the views. Personally, I'm interested in what an experienced pianist like him has to say about my idols like Vinheteiro, Patrik Pietschmann and Träum. I play the piano a lot too, but he's a professional and I find what he has to say about them incredibly interesting. And to be honest, I'm completely happy for him to get the views. You know what other nonsense is on RUclips and they get 10 times as many views. We pianists have to support each other
