Mi esposa and quatro amigos visited Tequila Fortaleza November 2021. We live full-time in Jalisco and this was our first visit to "the mothership" and we were new to discovering great tequila. Boy, we dove headfirst into the deep-end of the pool at Fortaleza! A wonderful tour (reservations required) and delicious artisinal tequila. When we finished our tastings in la cava we visited the tienda and Guillermo happened by and spent time talking with us. Real nice guy, genuine! Forever fans of this stellar tequila. Three weeks ago (while visiting El Tequileno nearby) we stopped by the Fortaleza tienda (which moved about a year ago) and made some purchases including Tequila Los Abuelos Still Strength! Whoa! Gracias Fortaleza for delicious Authentco Artisinal tequila.
I visited the distillery back in November of 2018 as part of Clayton's tequila tours, and I have been in love with their tequilas since then. My most prized tequila bottle is the 2020 Winter Blend (still sealed) 👀🥃
Fortaleza Blanco is my all time favourite Tequila and I love it all the more after seeing interviews with Guillermo,what an amazing guy and a real character
New Fortaleza fan here. I just had it for the first time a few months ago. Wow. Only had the Blanco. Bottle gone. Had to get another one to slooooow myself down. Here in Australia it is $150 AUD a bottle. Simple, elegant, can taste the piŋas and pepper, just a pure delicious nectar made the traditional way. Graçias for keeping it the 'old way'.
Fortaleza has been my #1 for at least 15 years & I will be finally taking the distillery tour in 4 weeks....can't wait! It will be like visiting one of the 8 Wonders of the Tequila World...lol!

Great interview! I have been waiting to get more Fortaleza but we get a small allotment once a year? Prices are ridiculous also. Looking forward to visiting Tequila and hopefully being able to do a tour when I’m there. Of course buy some Fortaleza to bring home. I hope that the true additive free brands don’t sell out to these big corporations. Had to sip some Fortaleza while watching.
My first fortaleza bottle (blanco). I had been searching the total wine & more for months. Finally one day it said they had limited stock. So I went, couldn't find it in the shelves. I was about to leave then I ask an associate. He just looked at me, I thought he didn't know what I was looking for. I repeat and then he says we have the last bottle I'll bring it out. Man was I happy
I make it a habit not to criticize a tequila unless I have actually tried it. That being said, I only shop using tequila matchmaker, so this greatly reduces the chance that I will ever taste many tequilas that use additives. I am a fervent follower of all things Grover and Scarlet, and have on my shelf almost all the tequilas that Guillermo mentioned at the end. I got my first two bottles of Forteleza recently be wuss I was tired of passing it by on the shelf. I was a little bit disappointed after tasting calculating the$110.00.(US) price I paid. At the MSR of $50.00 it would probably be the only tequila I drink! How my tequila is made matters, and by whom. By anyone’s reconning Forteleza/Abuelo is a tequila to be reckoned with! Salud!
I can appreciate their tequila is straight to the point and no additives but as for caring what you put in your body alcohol is a level 1 carcinogen 🤷🏻♂️. And don’t at me because yes I do enjoy it in moderations.
