Thanks Tim we really enjoyed this video. My wife and I will be on that exact train in 2 weeks time. We are foodies so we really appreciated you taking the time to show us both the on board and pre- purchased yummy options.
Hi Terry, just having some fun here and I certainly overdid it with the food. Really enjoyable ride and the nice thing is the Customs officers actually come to you. You just sit back and have them do all the work 😉. Hope you and your wife have an amazing trip!
Hi Mauricio, it was surprising how nice it is to travel by train. Very relaxing and enjoyable. This was a day trip, but it was so nice, I decided to book another train trip, but this time the journey took a few days...that was even more enjoyable :-) Thank you for taking the time to reach out. All the best!
Hi Candyce, thank you so much for taking the time to reach out :-) I had way too much food that day as it was after going to be buffet to celebrate a friends birthday :-)
It's a commuter train, stops many times, bus is same travel time and only one stop for customs and immigration. Wonder if he was allowed to bring the steak into Canada?
Thanks for showing us this! The train looks pretty cool and all that food looks really good; looks like a really fun trip. We would definitely consider doing this when we get a chance to visit.
Hi Tim! I always been to Vancouver either by plane, cruise ships or bus. Never cross the Canadian border on a train or Amtrak before. Will definitely try it a few weeks from now. Hope I get to meet you in person. Currently watch your other videos to decide where to take my sister on a dim sum brunch. Thanks for all the great contents and please continue your great epicurean adventures. Thank you so so much!
As a Canadian, I love Amtrak and have been to Washington state a number of times. Also went from Canada at Niagara Falls to NY. Loved it when we stopped just the other side in the US and the Sheriff's or Marshalls came on board and checked passports.
oh Tim, thank you! This one really made me smile! I just love Amtrak, but I've never been on the Cascades before so this was a real treat ...., it looks a lot nicer then the other trains I like to ride, hopefully someday I will get to ride on the Cascades.
I would've stayed in the dining area for the whole trip. Its like having a private seat. Don't like it too much when you're sitting next to a stranger(4seater). Privacy is the only way to travel on a train or plane, peace and quiet. Another nice video, good job Tim.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us Tim! That sammy sure looked awesome... like you. You are a very classy person and an excellent host to us in all your videos. Will be keeping my eyes peeled for another fun and exciting adventure. Thanks again brother 🙂 Mike in Roy, Utah 😎
Thanks again Mike, and hope you're doing well. This was a fun train ride and looking forward to future travel on trains as well. I'm kind of hooked :-) all the best to you!
85°C is fantastic! You’re right about those desserts being less sweet. My husband and I would get a kick when we'd hear a baker come outta the kitchen hollering "FRESH BREAD!" with a tray of warm bread. Don’t know if they still do that anymore. Good video!
Thank you so much Steve! Much appreciate your kind comment. being a bit busy lately, but hoping to try out new places shortly :-) thank you again and all the best to you 🙂
Great video! I´m going to Vancouver next year, and this train (but in the opposite direction - Vancouver to Seattle) seems like a good ideia. Best regards from Lisbon, Portugal!
Tim Lee I actually have been checking prices on Amtrak from Dallas to San Antonio. I love the thought of being able to watch the different scenery go by. Only thing I’m not sure about an 8 hour trip. lol
Hi Tim, I am a follower from Australia and love your presentations, I will be doing this same trip late 2023 and you have helped me out greatly, doing a week in manila on my way through and your Buffet reviews there have been fantastic, thank you .
That sounds like an amazing trip! You'll find so many places to visit and language would definitely not be a problem. One place you may want to try is a seafood / wet market where they can cook all the seafood you purchase at the local stalls
Most enjoyable trip and eating video. Good idea buying food in advance. I was interested to see you could take your own food into the dining car, and even have your steak warmed up. Maybe a standard thing, or it could be your usual enthusiasm and charm.
Hi Rich, I might have over done it with the amount of food, but I slept well afterwards :-) I believe they would do this (warm up food) for everyone as long as it's after the big rush at the beginning. Thanks again for taking the time to reach out. :-)
What a great video, Tim. That coffee looks delish... reminds me in appearance of the cheese-topped teas I’ve been getting lately at a variety of Asian dessert shops.
Thanks for the video..finally has chance to take sneak peek inside amtrak. Many things has changed in Seattle. I used to live there many years back during my college year. Its amazing city with lots of rainfall, how i miss the city. back then did not have amazon go yet.i am glad i can view the inside store..looking forward to more exciting videos :)
@@TimLeeLetsGo cross your finger for that, but just curious if you do need to provide any proof of vaccination certificate, prior to entering Seattle, is it depend on the mode of transport you come from? Hi Schubert, thank you so much for taking the time to reach out, and greatly appreciated. I think traveling by train is becoming one of the favorite modes of transportation :-)
The train certainly are not very efficient, but very fun and enjoyable to ride. Yeah, that was the last time I had the 85c items.. they don't have one where I'm from
An enjoyable and fun video to watch! Thanks for taking us along for the ride Tim! Something tells me the scenery during the daylight hours has to be pretty spectacular. Oh, and all the food looked tasty too. Mike, from the not so big city of Roy near the fabulous Wasatch mountains in northern Utah ☺
Thank you again Michael! It was very pleasant indeed. I wasn't sure what to expect with the food situation and actually bought $50 worth of instant noodles; they were certainly not needed. Although we had a late night noodle tasting one night with some of the new friends made on the trip.
Another great video... .Train trip is on my bucket list...maybe Ohio to Reno...Ohio to Atlantic City....Still Trying to decide....lol...Thanks for taking us along...
What a great video Tim ! When I compare the offer in your train and the one in France, I'm sad ! We don't have so many choices and the dishes are very disgusting here... Thx a lot for sharing your experience !
I am surprised Magali! I thought the trains in Europe would be quite amazing! I recently had the chance to do a train trip with my mom across Canada and I must say I was quite impressed. The service was great; kinda like from a time in the past (in the best possible way). :-)
@@TimLeeLetsGo Tim it depends on what way you travel ! But the dishes are so so on every trains ! Sorry but in this particular case, we don't deserve our reputation about gastronomy ! 😊 and I thank you very much for taking care in answering all my comments !
Wow this whole trip was phenomenal. I have always wanted to ride on a train. I hope I get to do that. I had heard of the Amazon go but I didn't know what it was. That was very interesting. And the soup and sandwich was a very good deal. I make homemade bread I'm going to tell you I even grind my own flour. That was nice looking bread. Thanks so much for the experience! 😁
Thank you again Indigenous Potliquor! Same here! Always wanted to ride on a train and this was my first "real" train trip (albeit a relatively short one). Gosh, how does one mill their own flour?!?! That's pretty impressive! I tend to stay away from store bought bread but I do savor and enjoy home made breads -- especially with sour dough or just a proper yeast leaven bread it's much tastier. I'm quite lucky as I don't bake, but have many good friends who do :-) Thank you again!
The mango pantacotta is also a winner at 85 degree C. Milk tea with pudding topping is also good! I like the mochi moon cake there too…small bite but pretty good.
You did exactly what I do everytime I do trips on Amtrak or on Metra or South Shore Line get some snacks for the trip. For me if I leave home early once I get to Downtown Chicago to the station I always get either McDonald's or Starbucks to wake me up being I'm not particularly a morning person lol.
Hey Brian, totally agree! You get exactly what you like to eat that way :-) I found it quite nice to be able to have a meal on a moving train -- feels very productive in a strange way (since you're traveling at the same time). :-)
It's quite a nice bakery and the cheesy drink topping sounded kind of weird at first but actually tasted really nice. Hope you're keeping well and really miss irvine. Hope you have a great thanksgiving!
Nice video! Made me very hungry! Looks like one could experience some weight gain if traveling by train a lot! The travel looked relaxing and enjoyable! Thank you for doing this video!
Thanks so much for reaching out Austen🙂. Oh, I way over did it with the food... But if you have the time, travelling by train is quite the experience 😃
And just think, next time you travel to Seattle you can pick up Hood Famous cheesecake for the road! I do like taking the train up north though, it's such a relaxing time.
Hey Scott, do you travel by train all the time? I must say, for a get-away once in a while, it's very nice, but I can't imagine being on a train while pressed for time ;-)
@@TimLeeLetsGo I travel on anything but planes, anywhere that you need me to i get there via bus, train, car, bicycle, stage coach i'm silly like that Tim. No honestly i don't travel much unless it is to go see my parents in another city. I have 2 dogs that it is hard to travel with. My wife and kids do more of the traveling while i vacation at home with my other 2 kids "the dogs"
What is the comparison between flying, driving and the train? I'm sure if it's a 4hr train ride it is doable to drive. But gas cost would be a factor. Flying would probably be a short flight but cost of flying is high. Train is nice that you don't need to drive and it seemed point A to point B. Thoughts?
Hey Cheryl, you are so right! The train was about twice the time compared to driving. The flight would not be ideal as it is an "International" flight and having to be early at the airport and customs there doesn't save much time. Car is certainly much more economical especially if you're in a group. It's probably 1/2 a tank of gas for a 1 way trip, versus $40USD for a 1 way ticket. Still, very enjoyable and just being able to nap (and not pay attention to traffic) was quite nice :-)
@@TimLeeLetsGo I Love trains! Did a lot of trains in China back in the 80s. Didn't realize Seattle and Vancouver was that close. Thank your taking us on that Journey. Do you not have to go through customs when you arrive by train? Also isn't there a border crossing if you drive? Sorry so many questions. I have family in WA and would love to take a quick detour to Vancouver!
@@cherylmedeiros6287, I forgot I actually got a chance to take the high speed train from Shanghai to Beijing! Really liked it. I think not having to line up for customs is the best part of the train. I recall that while on the train, the customs people come to you! You just sit back and relax and they come to check your passports :-) (I did have to hand in my declaration form when we arrived, but that was very quick.) It's very different when driving because you do have to line up at the boarder -- at peak times, it can about 2+ hour wait in your car. (Please note that you can also get express "Nexux" passes, but they require a bit of cost and an application/interview process.)
@@TimLeeLetsGo there was no high speed trains in China when I went. We were there for almost a month and traveled from Beiging and ended up in Hong Kong. Yes there were still Steam Locomotives back then. It was an experience i will always treasure with my parents. You live in the best of both worlds! My good friends live in Hay River NT and come to Hawaii every year.
Hey Ron, its definitely worth a try. if you book early enough, its about $40 USD each way. it might be fun to go on the train in the morning and take a bus back at night.. The train does take much longer though, but really great views and a very good choice if you're on a staycation type outing :-)
I like your video, but I think is a lot of food for a four-hour trip. Where exactly is located the Amazon go store? If you make another video like this one can you bring more information about the train your on? Thanks for sharing. Be safe!
Very nice video Tim 👍 just curious how did you get down to Seattle in the first place ? I wonder how it's like to ride the train in the morning 🤔 bet it's beautiful.. a year ago we had our first 85C location in Houston ..now we have 4 ..try the milk bun next time ..Amazon go seems pretty cool ..I wish we have one in Houston so I can do a review on it lol ..thank you for taking us along Tim 😀
Hi David! I did take the morning train, but that was so early I couldn't really film it -- I did try :-) The Amazon Go store was almost like a little 7-11 but the selections are very good. I tell ya, it was a full day of eating! breakfast on the train, the Buffet with Lois, the Starbucks excursion, a fried chicken break (at Edzel's) and the dinner on the train. Was happily stuffed :-)
Going to take the train to Seattle and back in late October(hopefully they have more train run by then) I know it’s only a 4 hour train ride so I want to ask is it worth paying extra money for business class?
Hi T Leung, the food purchased on the train was a bit high but not terribly high. I think the clam chowder was about $4-5 and the sandwich was about $5-6. Quite nice. I did over do it a bit the the foods from Amazon Go and the bakery...
I take this train often. It's worth it to upgrade to business class. Less seats in the cabin and more room. Only problem is the train departure times are limited
Hi ANC James! Customs were great as they come to you! Just just sit back and enjoy your meal/snack and they check your passports. I can certainly get used to this!
Hi Louis, that was the best part! The customs come to you on the train! You just sit back and they come on the train to you to verify passports etc. Remember all those times where you had to wait in line for customs? When the tables have certainly turned and they are the ones waiting for you :-) When coming back they do check whether you're bringing any fruits, tobacco, alcohol though so there's still a little bit of a check at the end. All in all, much better than traveling by car or plane.
@@stefandee1970 it does feel quite nice and the only thing I can compare it to was what I've seen in the movies. I would love to try going on an overnight journey. I wounder if we can still find rails like that of the orient express with sleeper cars and such (at an affordable rate) :-)
I think it is cheaper or nearly the same... The train does take considerably more time, and quite a different way to travel... Very enjoyable and different...
im going on the train from vancouver the first time from van to seattle , do you recommend early morning train , also can you stay in the resturaunt part for the whole journey , , thank you great video , also thats a lot of food hahahah ;)
I'm Japanese, so international trains are longing existance for me. I've taken international trains in Europe, but I've not done in the US. I wanna take this train between Seattle and Vancouver someday.
Thank you for reaching out from Japan! I recently started taking the trains and really loving it. A while ago, I took a trip across North America and it was pretty amazing. I just hope I get a chance to try the trains in Japan and Europe...someday... Thank you again!
How would you rate the smoothness of the train ride? I worry about taking it because of motion sickness (planes and cars (when I’m not driving) give me a hard time). If you travel a lot maybe its something you are used to by now, but any advice?
I love your video's because they make me feel like I am enjoying the experience with you. Keep up the great life.

@@TimLeeLetsGo Even though you do not bake. I think with your love of food you would like Joshua Weissman YT channel.
@@indigenouspotliquor3546 Thanks for the recommendation! He has a variety of foods as well! Very nice :-)
The mango pantacotta is also a winner at 85 degree C. Milk tea with pudding topping is also good! I like the mochi moon cake there too…small bite but pretty good.
I enjoyed our trip. Thank you for taking me with you!
Thank you so much for reaching out Jo! Greatly appreciated and was just having some fun with the video during this trip. All the best to you!
The bakery is called 85 degrees. You live in beautiful Vancouver . Seattle is nice. Your steak and sandwich looks good.
The best thing about train travel is the train is the destination everything else is a big bonus! Get the mango creme brulee that sounds wonderful!!
Agreed :-) really enjoying traveling by way of train. :-)
I came here for the travel views and ended up watching food lol good thing tho
You did exactly what I do everytime I do trips on Amtrak or on Metra or South Shore Line get some snacks for the trip. For me if I leave home early once I get to Downtown Chicago to the station I always get either McDonald's or Starbucks to wake me up being I'm not particularly a morning person lol.
Hey Brian, totally agree! You get exactly what you like to eat that way :-) I found it quite nice to be able to have a meal on a moving train -- feels very productive in a strange way (since you're traveling at the same time). :-)
85 degrees bakery has a store in Irvine CA as well. Must be a new chain. A friend brought me a cold coffee and some desserts from there.
Thank you for the Video.
Enjoyed your video!
Thank you Diane 🙂
So amazing
this train looks a bit different from the one i took in sep 2019. the carriages i rode look bigger more open space between carriages
Well this is two years old, might've changed some things.
I love your videos tim :-) looks so delicious 😋 and that coffee though ;)
Thank you again! Yes, that was so weird but wonderful coffee :-)
@@TimLeeLetsGo sorry if that seemed creepy xD my emoji button is kinda broken so I had to use that werid wink face
@@bcferrieslover6933 looks fine over here 🙂
That must have been a fun trip :D
Hi RailfanMedia,. I'm starting to develop a fondness for train travel 🙂 . I like the train footage that you take away well! Really nice 🙂
Tim Lee thanks!!
And just think, next time you travel to Seattle you can pick up Hood Famous cheesecake for the road! I do like taking the train up north though, it's such a relaxing time.
Keep up the good work Tim!
I agree! :)
Tim you're great!
Thanks so much Mark! Wishing you and yours a very happy holiday 😃
10 hours on a train is why i don't like traveling Tim lol, another good video :)
Nice video Tim!
Thanks James 🙂
Can you bring own food like some rice, yogurt, fruits? And also some snacks on train cross country? Esp Vancouver to Seattle?
I enjoyed the vlog Tim how much is the train ride
Hey Ron, its definitely worth a try. if you book early enough, its about $40 USD each way. it might be fun to go on the train in the morning and take a bus back at night.. The train does take much longer though, but really great views and a very good choice if you're on a staycation type outing :-)
$40 that's not bad thanks for the idea for the train and bus and great choice for the food the soup and sandwich looks great keep it up Tim
How much was the train ticket? Also do you know the price for 2 way instead of 1 way ticket?
Hi Youtubian1790, the tickets were about$40usd one way. There's no discount on a return ticket though, it's basically 2 one way tickets.
@@TimLeeLetsGo wow thank you! That is a very good deal!
Sea salt is really good with dairy stuff together. So far the sea salt flavor ice-cream in Dublin is my favorite.
Hi Andy, that sounds interesting... I wonder if they have something like that in Vancouver
I like your video, but I think is a lot of food for a four-hour trip. Where exactly is located the Amazon go store? If you make another video like this one can you bring more information about the train your on? Thanks for sharing. Be safe!
Thank you so much.. will do. I generally leave details in the video description but not sure if I captured the Amazon store there
Very nice video Tim 👍 just curious how did you get down to Seattle in the first place ?
Was happily stuffed :-)
went to the amazon go in the amazon headquaters, 85degree C in sep 2019
Going to take the train to Seattle and back in late October(hopefully they have more train run by then) I know it’s only a 4 hour train ride so I want to ask is it worth paying extra money for business class?
Is it ALL about eating??? Otr, is there any information about the TRAIN TRIP ?????
How much was your total food bill on the train?
Hi T Leung, the food purchased on the train was a bit high but not terribly high. I think the clam chowder was about $4-5 and the sandwich was about $5-6. Quite nice. I did over do it a bit the the foods from Amazon Go and the bakery...
I take this train often. It's worth it to upgrade to business class. Less seats in the cabin and more room. Only problem is the train departure times are limited
Thanks Timmy! I noticed business class didn't cost too much more than coach. Good tip!
How was Customs? When & Where did that happen? Obviously you were going home. Would it be the same in Customs for Americans visiting Vancouver?
Hi ANC James! Customs were great as they come to you! Just just sit back and enjoy your meal/snack and they check your passports. I can certainly get used to this!
Looks delicious
Thanks Christopher...it was a bit too much food in the end ;-) but enjoyable...
👍
How long is custom or TSA? 4 hours ride might be less painfully than plane flight.
All in all, much better than traveling by car or plane.
nice. one day. one day
@@TimLeeLetsGo that was standard custom in europe 50y ago.... usa and canada r joke
@@stefandee1970 it does feel quite nice and the only thing I can compare it to was what I've seen in the movies. I would love to try going on an overnight journey. I wounder if we can still find rails like that of the orient express with sleeper cars and such (at an affordable rate) :-)
@@TimLeeLetsGo i love trains.
*Is the train from Seattle to Vancouver cheaper than flight?*
I think it is cheaper or nearly the same... The train does take considerably more time, and quite a different way to travel... Very enjoyable and different...
@@TimLeeLetsGo *I'm moving to Seattle in August. Do you live there or were you just visiting?*
@@aravindkramesh I'm in Vancouver and used to visit Seattle quite often as it's close by... That was when the boarders were open😔
im going on the train from vancouver the first time from van to seattle , do you recommend early morning train , also can you stay in the resturaunt part for the whole journey , , thank you great video , also thats a lot of food hahahah ;)
Maybe is a silly question, but You have to have account with Amazon? to use the app, or you can just set up your credit card in the app??
Yes, you actually do have to have an account with Amazon
How would you rate the smoothness of the train ride? I worry about taking it because of motion sickness (planes and cars (when I’m not driving) give me a hard time). If you travel a lot maybe its something you are used to by now, but any advice?
