Can we please save the talking and pauses for after the movie? Lol
The original script for this movie had Amber and Tara dating, Wes being Tara’s bitter ex, Vince’s death was different and Wes’s death including the home security on the phone being messed with from the opening.
"I know she's in the next one" I mean she could have been in flashbacks. Many movies killed off characters only for them to come back in flashbacks, dream sequences or as halucinations.
I love that Dewey actually has a portrait of Tatum in his trailer.
It’s not a portrait, it’s a box with Tatum’s name on it. He has a portrait of him and Gale on the same mantle.

Jenna ortega acting in the opening was Hella good too
dewey had to retire due to the injuries he's sustained. most of back is covered in scar tissue. i also liked how he had tatum's ashes in his house. it sort of foreshadowed his death. He still punishes himself for not being to save his own sister, so he went out saving someone else's.
It wasn’t due to his injuries
It was because he started drinking, his injuries were already better in scream 4 and the only new ones he got in that movie were maybe head injuries from jill hitting him with the bedpan
It wasn't because of his injuries. It's because he couldn't stop what happened in Scream 4
that dewey moment hit hard. i've never been that emotional over a death in a slasher.
I almost started crying and I was about to throw my phone
I think the reason Tara survived was because the cops were just arriving at that last moment (you can see the lights and hear the sirens in the background). The killer probably panicked and rushed off before being able to finish her. Also, I loved how you were like “Dewey looks good!” when I think they were purposefully trying to make him look rough and disheveled lol. David Arquette is definitely aging well though and I agree with you about his performance…I think this is his best in the entire series. Anyway, love your Scream reactions and I’m looking forward to Part 6!

@@dennisbaccam6235 yes, actually, amber stabbed her repeatedly in the abdomen but didn't finish her like she did with judy hicks, for example, and sam might've come back to town if tara actually died, but she surely wouldn't have stayed, the only thing keeping her in woodsboro the whole movie was tara

To me, David Arquette does his best acting in this film. In Scream 1-3, they tried to make him too much of a joke. But in Scream 4 and 5, we see him really become a different, more responsible Dewey.
many of the previous cast members appeared either in person or lent their voices to the toast at the party for the "To Wes" cheers, an obvious homage to the late Wes Craven.
Dewey actually almost died for real way back in the first movie. Wes Craven was never sure whether or not he would keep him alive and even shot a scene confirming his death just in case, but test audiences liked him, so he got to stay around
They found Dewey's only weakness... being stabbed in the front 😅
I enjoy 5 for the meta commentary on toxic fandom (Rian Johnson being the director of a fanboy hated 8th installment is a perfect meta joke), and how it makes loving reference to Wes' Screams (the For Wes sign is a big tribute) while trying to forge a new group of characters to go forward with. I enjoy 6 way more than 5, and am excited to see where they go with nuScream.
I really liked Scream 5 and 6.

If you look at the killings in Scream (2022) with the theory that..
*(SPOILERS)*
Ritchie likes to go for quick face/neck stabs, and Amber goes ballistic with multiple stabs to the front, back and lower body, you’ll know who killed who throughout and where to place them.
Pretty sure it was confirmed that Ritchie didn’t actually kill anyone but just did the calling/masterminding.

There are clearly two different killing styles. If you watch closely, it makes sense. I believe, (as do most others) that Richie’s style was quick and efficient, while Amber’s was more brutal and sloppy, involving multiple stabs.
Therefore, it would make sense that Richie killed Vince and later Wes, while Amber killed Judy.
You’ll notice that with the Judy kill she uses a palm strike and the weight of her body to compensate for her size and get past her attempts to block the knife. Vince and Wes are both stabbed through the neck/face, which is appropriately how Richie is ultimately killed. I believe this was intentional.
He may have only had 2-3 kills/attacks, but Richie is not just a caller. Judy and Chad and Tara are stabbed the same way. (With multiple quick stabs) Chad when Richie is in the car with Samantha. It was different with Dewey. Amber used two knives and gutted him from both sides, making sure to finish him for good. It seemed the most personal of her kills.
@@adnap so I decided to do some looking on the interwebs and I found conflicting things. I saw an interview with the directors that said Ritchie didn’t wanna get his hands dirty and wanted to be the intellectual one and that Amber didn’t mind “breaking some eggs” which goes hand in hand with Sam saying Ritchie was a limp dick man baby who made his girlfriend do all the killing.. buuuuuut there’s a lot of evidence showing that Ritchie did indeed kill Vince and Wes which makes sense (your points are pretty fair) so I’m torn. I’m going to choose to believe that he did get his hands dirty after all since that would make him an even better Ghostface!
FUN FACT: The Principal on the PA system in the beginning is Drew Barrymore (Casey in the original Scream). :)
& Jamie Kennedy (Randy) voice is "Someone's goofy assed dad is kicking us out" at the party! 🥳 & Matthew Lillard's (Stu) voice is used for the chrome Ghostface with the flamethrower in Stab 8. the reason why sam being the killer according to "requel" rules makes sense is because she's the daughter of one of the original killers (and has hallucinations about him).
Huh, that does make some sense but it doesn't really mean she would turn out like him even with hallucinations. Although in movie terms it makes perfect sense. I'm kind of glad they didn't go that route because that would've been boring and Sam is my favorite character next to Tara. You don't have to respond to this by the way and thanks for explaining this because I didn't get it when I watched it the first time.

They were originally going to make Tara and Amber a couple or recent broken up, so that could explain why she was left alive besides the obvious to further the plot and get them in woodsboro

My family still uses a landline phone. Best for usage in an emergency because hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, and even rain and snowstorms may knock down cell phone towers, it never needs to be charged, and best of all, 911 can always find you. It's more difficult to pinpoint your location with a cellphone, and if you can't talk for whatever reason, that may be fatal.

David Arquette really killed it in this one! All of his scenes really stole the show. While I hated that he died because I just absolutely love his character, his death was a really great one! Worthy of a legacy character. Even if I don't like that it was Amber that killed him.
Wes's death was also pretty gruesome. I think Wes Craven would've appreciated it.
Also love the strong Latina representation we got with Sam and Tara as final girls. They showed some good potential and really live up to it in the next movie. Scream 5 was a good one, not the best, but pretty good despite some flaws. Hope you enjoy Scream 6! 👻🔪♥

Honestly you can see that David and Courteney used their real-life 2013's divorce for their scene... It felt way too genuine and personal just to be acting... It breaks my heart because you can see alot of love still in their eyes...
And the guy who died in the bar parking lot was Stu's nephew

Okay about the recent breeding if you didn't notice... Sydney married. A man named Mark. That would be the cop from three that's who her unseen daughters are by. As for the twins, you of course know their mother is Randy's little sister who we met in three well their daddy from what I've heard but I I did not catch them say anything about it in any of the movies since he's black. I heard that he is the cameraman from two. You know the one who fainted finding her brother's body. Joel... That man I can never recall his name. I had to Google it but he has one of my favorite lines of the franchise!

Dewey dying was the one scene in scream that always pisses me off and makes me cry
I felt exactly the same way about Dewey´s death.
One thing I will give these new scream films, the kills are so damn inventive
36:36 I’m with you on this. You put it perfectly and succinctly. Scream 4 did it better. Jill being Sidney’s cousin made it more believe because like she said she was tired of being in Sidney’s shadow.
I really loved this one, but it's hit or miss for some folks. Sad as I was with Dewey's death, I liked that he was taken more seriously and wasn't as much of a joke. An excellent send off for the character.
While I feel that these killers were easily the most incompetent of any of the ones we've seen, they were still both very entertaining.
Spoilers if someone somehow hasn't seen the video anyways the reason why I don't really like 5 is because how they treated Dewey and Gale in this like it was kind of fun where they have this on-and-off relationship in 1 2 and 3 but in this I feel like they should have kept Gale and Dewey married and staying together like I was all right with Dewey dying it's just that it would have been more emotional if Gale and Dewey were more together and married sorry if thiz doesn't make sense
I still hate this film for killing dewey the way they did it him staying behind letting his cellphone distract him just seemed like a cheap way for an original beloved character to go out!

Dewey's death is my absolute favorite of the franchise. It was so well done. It gives me chills every time. I love the lines from Ghostface, "Yes, today." and "It's an honor."
Roman actually did start everything by telling Billy about his dad cheating with Sidney's mom. Scream 1 didn't explain how Billy knew about it, but Scream 3 did.
Roman only wanted him to kill Sidney’s mom. He had nothing to do with ghostface or the other killings. So in a way no Roman didn’t start everything

In the original script for Scream 5, Tara and Amber were originally dating. Their romantic relationship was cut out though because they didn't want both love interests for the sisters to be the killers.

Please limit looking away from the movie to look at the camera. We don't need to have eye contact and feel validated if you miss things because of it. I am just constantly thinking look back at the movie cuz you just missed something cool or important.

I don’t agree he was underwhelming, but we all have our opinions. That being said, canon is canon and Roman is the reason Ghostface even exists. Without him convincing Billy to kill his mother, there is no franchise.

Great reaction! This is so far the first thing i've seen from you, i've subscribed, and will be checking out your other movie reactions of films i love. This is my favourite Scream sequel, i only prefer the original, obviously. I love Sam and Tara as new final girls, and the increase in gore in this one. I've loved horror films since i was 5 in the mid 80s when i first saw the original Halloween, which is my second favourite movie now (after Pulp Fiction).
Random question but have you considered doing short tv series or miniseries? Like The Haunting of Hill House. It’s only one series and it’s only 9 or 10 episodes

I hate the “she was purposely left alive” because any type of stabbing won’t guarantee the victim surviving. She survived because the police came in time. Sam would’ve came to Woodsboro whether she was died or alive
The toast to Wes in the movie was an actual toast to Wes Craven. Drew Barrymore (kc becker) Matthew Lillard (stu) Hayden panitere (kirby) all were in the scene
I think the intent with Scream 5 and 6 was for them to be "remakes" in continuation of the making fun of horror movie tropes. If that makes sense?

Yeah it is kind of funny that in the first scream the cops were like oh my god. He's got a cell phone that must make him the killer. They totally b******* it into that one. It really shouldn't have been that easy but now it's just cell phones are the thing. Landlines are the thing people don't really have anymore. I mean people have them but most people don't. It was the common thing in the 90s when I was a kid. Now it's like I guarantee most teenagers are like. Do I even know anyone who has a landline and and it's true cuz when I was a teenager most people didn't have cell phones. Everyone had a landline. Now it's you. Have to have a cell phone and landlines are optional. I don't have a landline

I saw the original scream in the theater 5 times in 1996 when it came out. And have seen all 6 of them in the theater. I love Dewey, but I honestly thing it was great the way that they killed him in this one. I wasn’t angry about it because it was so well done and the arc of the character was so beautiful. To me, this movie IS David Arquette’s and Dewey’s movie. Arquette is amazing and has the most screen time of the legacy characters early on and his death really gives the movie stakes and pushes the plot forward. It was the only thing that could have gotten Sidney back to woodsborough. And it drives the Sid and Gale going forward.
Btw Amber was originally supposed to be Tara's girlfriend. Also the fact that the Amber killed everyone and Richie wasn't able to kill anyone is so funny to me 😭

The legacy characters have the best scenes because they ARE Scream. The new ones try, but…. nuh uh.
