Another fun Easter Egg -- Trevor's outfit when he shows up to the house party at the end -- Khakis, Green Polo, Denim Jacket -- is the same thing Sidney's father was wearing when he was framed for the murders by Billy & Stu in the Original Movie. A nod to the fact that they were both used as misdirects by the actual killers.
It definitely was ahead of its time. When it came out, a lot of critics and fans alike thought the motive was stupid because "nobody would do all that just to be famous on the internet!" Fast forward to today and the motivation is the most realistic motivation of the franchise - and one of the most realistic motivations in slasher movies to date.

@@atimetraveler4910he’s not so much as discrediting Jill, the fact of the matter is Charlie did most of the kills, I still think she took out the girl in the beginning after she got her with the garage door, but Charlie took out most of everyone, and Jill let him so everything could be traced back to him. Jill’s main concern was the “victim” fame and glory.
At the time this came out we were at the tail end of remake’s being the big horror thing at the movies. That why a lot of the meta horror stuff was about remakes. I’m so happy that Scream went on as a continuing series and that they didn’t just remake the original. Great having Wes Craven back directing and Kevin Williamson back writing the series he created (although the Weinsteins did change a decent amount of it). And like you pointed out, this movie was really ahead of its time as far as predicting the constant streaming of our lives with video and Jill’s motive of online fame. Brilliant commentary by Williamson. Being a huge fan of the original I was in the theaters opening night for this one but it’s kind of sad that it didn’t do all that well at the box office and they scrapped plans for the rest of a second trilogy and had to wait another 11 years between Scream 4 and Scream 5 (same amount of time as between Scream 3 and Scream 4).

I’m firmly in the belief that SCRE4M is my favorite of the sequels but I’m also strongly contemplating if I enjoyed this more than the first film because this film came EXTREMELY CLOSE. Continuing the events of the trilogy while replaying the first part, this films self-reflexivity of neo-slashers and replayability of nostalgia pays a better tribute to the genre of horror than the previous two films or most legacy sequels could’ve done. Wes Craven’s assured directing arms tense, disquieting sequences alongside a tight, brisk pace that actually buoys the narrative structure with the same sense of playfulness from before, only with a warranted thriller-esque aura that makes up for the lack of scares. Very aggressive, parodies the trends it creates with wonderful tongue-in-cheek humor despite the inevitable predictably that comes with it, seamlessly turns the series’ own cynicism back on itself and it has, in my opinion, the best Ghostface reveal in the series yet. The motivation might be basic but Jill’s determination to see it through to the end easily makes her the more intimidating villain, reveling in the same manic energy of Bill and Stu while staying firmly in control of the situation at all times like a true sociopath.
"Are all of these blondies gonna die?" I really enjoy 4. It's probably my 3rd fave. I love the double fake-out opening that adds to the Stab legacy. Kirby is so 🔥 and Jill is completely insane 🤣🤣🤣 RIP to Wes. Though this is his final entry, the series carries on without him. I like to think as Scream 5+ as nuScream, as it feels very much like a different era after the loss of Wes.
The Scream movies are so meta it makes me wonder why none of these characters are seen watching Scary Movie on tv and blaming Gale and her book for making them famous to the point that Hollywood made that parody
Jill was the one to actually take one the easy kills that didn’t require that much strength like stabbing her mum and things like that. Charlie did the actual heavy damage to the victims like Olivia the brutalness of it. So in that sense yes it can be believable especially if one is doing the heavy lifting like Charlie and the other just stabs without effort.
There are a number of moments in this i love, obviously especially the last act where Jill hilariously intentionally injures herself, and what follows at the hospital. I also love them witnessing the murder in the house across the street, it is a kind of a copy of a scene i love in Halloween 6.
Having seen this movie when it came out, and watching it become more and more correct in its prediction of social media and clout-chasing, has been the real horror of it all. Also, I have to draw attention to Neve's scream with the knee in to her stomach. Such a prime example of a perfect in-pain scream.
Scream franchise has always surprised me how much I enjoy them and how they can keep up quality surprisingly well thru ought the franchise, albeit I haven´t seen latest yet.
What you said about Jill's monologue to Sidney being relevant today, i agree. I have a tv in my bedroom, i've not turned it on in 4 years. I watch RUclips's, Amazon stuff, other online movies, occasionally DVD's on my portable player. On very rare occasions there is a tv show i want to see, i watch that on my tablet, at a time of my choosing.
There is a tv downstairs btw, which my sisters watch occasionally, but i seldom go in that room, certainly not to watch a show. I pretty much live in my bedroom lol.
scream 4 was my favorite scream movie for all the right reason and fun fact about scream 4 is that the original ending of the movie was Jill she was supposed to get away from it for everything she just do and then the movie end with Jill gets all the pictures on her and we get a flash and after that all happen we get a alternate ending where after Jill to to the hospital the next thing you know there was a officer says we got a another one that is alive over here it a woman that was the cliffhanger we didn't know for sure that if it was Sidney or Kirby because Wes did says that Kirby was still moving around and then the camera cut and he want to bring back Kirby for scream 5 but we didn't know if she was still alive or not but then the original script for scream 5 was after Sidney get out of the hospital she didn't even remember the event that happens in 4 and she became a professor at this school that Jill going to but then Jill get a phone call from a another ghostface killer and he is try to blackmail Jill if she doesn't tell the truth of what really happened ghostface will send the video of Jill kill everybody in 4 and that she flame everyone and Jill wouldn't let that happen and try to not let a another ghostface killer come and try to ruined her reputation as a star so she go back to be a ghostface killer and kill all of her new school friend and then try to kill Sidney if the other killer told her what happens but she found out anyway but instead of Sidney kill her and the other ghostface killer kill her and it was his master plan just so he can kill Sidney but we didn't know who the killer was and we didn't know who they were going to put as the killer but then they decided to stick with the original ending in scream 4 and they are were to follow it up with scream 5 where in the original script was Jill survived for what Sidney done to her in 4 and she was in prison and she got the help she need and Sidney got her out of prison but then a another ghostface killer come and try to kill Jill and Sidney because Jill use to be a ghostface killer or they were going to do the other way where while Jill she was in prison and she was about to get back to her normal self she saw that and here on the news that there was a another ghostface attack going to Sidney and when she found that out she start to get her memory back from what happened to her when Sidney did to her at the hospital and that when she turn back evil and get her revenge and go back to be a killer again that was supposed to happen in 5 but Wes died and then after radio silence took over the whole idea was scrapped and also clariss make sure you look at some of the Easter egg in scream 5 because they are a lot of reference to the new legacy character that are related to the original cast in the first scream movie and one you look at the character who is watching a video of stab there are two imported Easter egg in the very top and bottom of the recommend of watch the video so pause the movie when you first watch it and look at the Easter egg of the video he is watching don't forget it

This is my favorite Scream, really for the nostalgia and it being my generation, really. I was so excited when I got through all the "old" Scream movies to get to the modern one that I knew I'd be able to relate to more, and it did not disappoint! I was quite shocked at the killer reveal, even though I had already seen American Horror Story and should have guessed.
Fun fact they created Kirby because she had all of tatums lines from the first film in the first scream rose McGowans character was the film buff and she had that cut from the script so Williamson created Kirby for this one
If you're a fan of Robert Rodriguez, and haven't seen it already, I highly recommend checking out _From Dusk Till Dawn_ (1996). I won't say anything about the plot, so as not to spoil it, but it was directed by Rodriguez, written by Quentin Tarantino, stars some big name actors, and is entertaining from start to finish.
Going to around twenty minutes, he mentions Suspiria. Please watch Suspiria. The original in Italian from 1977. It's kind of cheesy in the plot but Dario Argento's use of color and music is art.
Jill going full Fight Club f*cking herself up makes her Scream MVP. She's Stew and Billy rolled up into one, but without the restraint. Yes. That was a joke. But, barely. Lol I completely read that wrong. My mind had a brain fart and I read it as Scary Movie 4, which is a very different movie. Scream 4 feels like the odd one out to me. The first 3 were one after another, then this was ten years later, and then ten years after that were 5 and 6. Neve Campbell gets better with age. Dewey is the sheriff now, and Gale is still part of the press. There's a conflict of interest, he cannot share information from an official investigation with her. And she should not be withholding information just to get him back on "Team Gale." Again, Dewey is the sheriff. He has different responsibilities now. Love the dig at the news media at the end. They're so eager to be first to put out the story that they get it wrong lol
I love watching reactions to movies I enjoyed on release even if at the time people shit on it. If you haven't watched it yet there is an alternate opening with Marnie and Julie that is joked about in the cinematic opening. Unfortunately, the film grain was added, and I hope in the 4k release it gets removed. Another fun fact was there was a different ending that didn't include the hospital where jill lived and Sydney was in a coma. The next movies were going to follow Jill as she is stalked.
Another great Emma Roberts "internet fame" movie that is REALLY good is 2016's Nerve. I won't say anything about it, cause I don't want to spoil anything not in the trailer, but you might check it out some time.
Fun fact : This movie is the first and only one where they didnt use a retractable blade... In this movie the killer has only a handle and the blade was added digitally... That's why it looked overly shiny and like not great...
One aspect on the motive is that it was to get her 15 minutes of fame. Because back in those days you literally got 15 minutes of fame versus today you have so many platforms to keep it alive
Most people, myself included HATED the filter they used in this movie... It make most lighting as if someone put vaseline on the camera and it's like oversaturated in color... It's bizzare because for the trailer they used the scenes without the filters... I just hope they release a version without the filter. Some of the deleted scene and alternate ones need to be added too... especially because without them you couldnt see the remake aspect of this film.
The thing i like about Jill is that she is the only Ghostface to achieve her goal, even in death. She was a narcissist. She wanted fame and would stop at nothing to get it. She wouldn't wait for Charlie to upload his murders so what Jill would do is upload hers to the dark web which will inspire further Ghostface attacks across the globe. Jill had it all figured out. She just used Charlie to pin the blame on like Trevor (although Trevor was innocent). Perhaps her actions could be what inspired the Reddit Thread that lead to the group that Richie and Amber from Scream 5 were members of...
Actually, no. Because it's canon that Sidney judicially forced the Stab franchise not to use Jill as a character, so for the masses, Charlie was the only killer in that scenario. And the Stab films dramatizations of the real events are what make the killers famous in the Scream world, so... Sidney robbed Jill of the (after death) fame she was looking for.
Great thing about these movies is that once you know who ghostface is that upon rewatching you can search for subtle clues you might not have noticed before
Courtney Cox looks her best in the series in this movie to me. Afterwards, it goes down hill because she got surgery instead of letting herself age gracefully.
Jill is one of my favorite ghost faces (u can’t beat the og’s Stu and Billy my top 2:D the way she made herself victim and she went far enough to stabbing and throwing herself is something I wasn’t expecting! She tricked me pretty well tbh T_T i also love the fact that the ghost faces aren’t supernatural beings or people with powers like immortality or stuff like that, it is just normal people killing like the psycho’s they are shown to be in the films! They are like us and I find that SOO MUCH BETTER! Films don’t create psycho’s they make them more creative!
idk if this is a controversial opinion, but this is the second best movie in the whole series imo. nothing can top the original, but this managed to capture a similar vibe as the first one with a motive that was, as you said, ahead of its time. jill might be one of my favorite ghostface killers -- emma roberts seems to be typecast as the mega bitch a lot, but it's a role she plays extremely well every time. it's just a shame that 2011 couldn't yet see the genius of this remake. also Sydney's "don't fuck with the original" line has to be one of her most iconic of the whole series.
Two things i wanna say about this movie: 1) I think it so interesting at the time of the release of this movie it didnt peform well at the box office (I think due to the amount time between S3 and S4) but over the recent years it's has been praised highly 2) After S3 that has been a complaint from audience about the strength of killers capabilities to do what they do Would love to hear your Scream movie rankings from favorite to least favorite. 34:57 I appreciate what Dewey does in terms of his loyalty to Gale and Sidney, I just don’t get the Dewey Stans. Like, this dude gets his ass kicked in every movie, he doesn’t have the movie knowledge like some, & never solves for the killer. I Stan Kirby so much harder in just this film than Dewey in four.

Yeah 2011 was early cellphone social media era. They had a good intuition about the future and the technology. Emma is too small for the strenght needed for sure lol ... but when you realy want something (fame) ... maybe ;)
I absolutely love Scream 4, however there are a lot of deleted scenes and things that didn't make the final cut that I think would have made the storyline (especially with how these killings are supposed to resemble the original ones) and movie better overall. I kind of wish I didn't know about those because now every time I watch the movie, I think about them. That being said, Scream 4 was in my top two of the franchise for the longest time. With the release of 5 and 6, my rankings have changed but 4 is still near the top.
The extended cut is better... those extra scenes even out the more crazy scenes, more of the new characters and also has a very gritty crimescene scene. It definately was ahead of it's time.
The believability of the Ghostface reveals always stretch it. But they don’t care and continue to get 6ft huge guys to be in the mask until the 4 ft 11 girl reveals herself 😂😂🤷🏾♂️👍🏾

scream 4 was my favorite scream movie for all the right reason and fun fact about scream 4 is that the original ending of the movie was Jill she was supposed to get away from it for everything she just do and then the movie end with Jill gets all the pictures on her and we get a flash and after that all happen we get a alternate ending where after Jill to to the hospital the next thing you know there was a officer says we got a another one that is alive over here it a woman that was the cliffhanger we didn't know for sure that if it was Sidney or Kirby because Wes did says that Kirby was still moving around and then the camera cut and he want to bring back Kirby for scream 5 but we didn't know if she was still alive or not but then the original script for scream 5 was after Sidney get out of the hospital she didn't even remember the event that happens in 4 and she became a professor at this school that Jill going to but then Jill get a phone call from a another ghostface killer and he is try to blackmail Jill if she doesn't tell the truth of what really happened ghostface will send the video of Jill kill everybody in 4 and that she flame everyone and Jill wouldn't let that happen and try to not let a another ghostface killer come and try to ruined her reputation as a star so she go back to be a ghostface killer and kill all of her new school friend and then try to kill Sidney if the other killer told her what happens but she found out anyway but instead of Sidney kill her and the other ghostface killer kill her and it was his master plan just so he can kill Sidney but we didn't know who the killer was and we didn't know who they were going to put as the killer but then they decided to stick with the original ending in scream 4 and they are were to follow it up with scream 5 where in the original script was Jill survived for what Sidney done to her in 4 and she was in prison and she got the help she need and Sidney got her out of prison but then a another ghostface killer come and try to kill Jill and Sidney because Jill use to be a ghostface killer or they were going to do the other way where while Jill she was in prison and she was about to get back to her normal self she saw that and here on the news that there was a another ghostface attack going to Sidney and when she found that out she start to get her memory back from what happened to her when Sidney did to her at the hospital and that when she turn back evil and get her revenge and go back to be a killer again that was supposed to happen in 5 but Wes died and then after radio silence took over the whole idea was scrapped and also clariss make sure you look at some of the Easter egg in scream 5 because they are a lot of reference to the new legacy character that are related to the original cast in the first scream movie and one you look at the character who is watching a video of stab there are two imported Easter egg in the very top and bottom of the recommend of watch the video so pause the movie when you first watch it and look at the Easter egg of the video he is watching don't forget it

This is my favorite Scream, really for the nostalgia and it being my generation, really. I was so excited when I got through all the "old" Scream movies to get to the modern one that I knew I'd be able to relate to more, and it did not disappoint! I was quite shocked at the killer reveal, even though I had already seen American Horror Story and should have guessed.
Fun fact they created Kirby because she had all of tatums lines from the first film in the first scream rose McGowans character was the film buff and she had that cut from the script so Williamson created Kirby for this one

If you're a fan of Robert Rodriguez, and haven't seen it already, I highly recommend checking out _From Dusk Till Dawn_ (1996). I won't say anything about the plot, so as not to spoil it, but it was directed by Rodriguez, written by Quentin Tarantino, stars some big name actors, and is entertaining from start to finish.

Scream 4 feels like the odd one out to me. The first 3 were one after another, then this was ten years later, and then ten years after that were 5 and 6.

Dewey is the sheriff now, and Gale is still part of the press. There's a conflict of interest, he cannot share information from an official investigation with her. And she should not be withholding information just to get him back on "Team Gale." Again, Dewey is the sheriff. He has different responsibilities now.

I love watching reactions to movies I enjoyed on release even if at the time people shit on it. If you haven't watched it yet there is an alternate opening with Marnie and Julie that is joked about in the cinematic opening. Unfortunately, the film grain was added, and I hope in the 4k release it gets removed. Another fun fact was there was a different ending that didn't include the hospital where jill lived and Sydney was in a coma. The next movies were going to follow Jill as she is stalked.
Another great Emma Roberts "internet fame" movie that is REALLY good is 2016's Nerve. I won't say anything about it, cause I don't want to spoil anything not in the trailer, but you might check it out some time.
Fun fact : This movie is the first and only one where they didnt use a retractable blade... In this movie the killer has only a handle and the blade was added digitally... That's why it looked overly shiny and like not great...

One aspect on the motive is that it was to get her 15 minutes of fame. Because back in those days you literally got 15 minutes of fame versus today you have so many platforms to keep it alive
Most people, myself included HATED the filter they used in this movie... It make most lighting as if someone put vaseline on the camera and it's like oversaturated in color... It's bizzare because for the trailer they used the scenes without the filters... I just hope they release a version without the filter. Some of the deleted scene and alternate ones need to be added too... especially because without them you couldnt see the remake aspect of this film.
This was the first scream movie I've ever watched I was 10 when I just watched this I LOVED IT

The grainy look was intentional. Wes Craven wanted the film to reminisce the grainy look of Scream 1 since Scream 4 is a remake of the original.

The thing i like about Jill is that she is the only Ghostface to achieve her goal, even in death.
She was a narcissist. She wanted fame and would stop at nothing to get it. She wouldn't wait for Charlie to upload his murders so what Jill would do is upload hers to the dark web which will inspire further Ghostface attacks across the globe. Jill had it all figured out. She just used Charlie to pin the blame on like Trevor (although Trevor was innocent).
Perhaps her actions could be what inspired the Reddit Thread that lead to the group that Richie and Amber from Scream 5 were members of...
Actually, no. Because it's canon that Sidney judicially forced the Stab franchise not to use Jill as a character, so for the masses, Charlie was the only killer in that scenario. And the Stab films dramatizations of the real events are what make the killers famous in the Scream world, so... Sidney robbed Jill of the (after death) fame she was looking for.

Great thing about these movies is that once you know who ghostface is that upon rewatching you can search for subtle clues you might not have noticed before
Courtney Cox looks her best in the series in this movie to me. Afterwards, it goes down hill because she got surgery instead of letting herself age gracefully.
Jill is one of my favorite ghost faces (u can’t beat the og’s Stu and Billy my top 2:D the way she made herself victim and she went far enough to stabbing and throwing herself is something I wasn’t expecting! She tricked me pretty well tbh T_T i also love the fact that the ghost faces aren’t supernatural beings or people with powers like immortality or stuff like that, it is just normal people killing like the psycho’s they are shown to be in the films! They are like us and I find that SOO MUCH BETTER! Films don’t create psycho’s they make them more creative!
idk if this is a controversial opinion, but this is the second best movie in the whole series imo. nothing can top the original, but this managed to capture a similar vibe as the first one with a motive that was, as you said, ahead of its time. jill might be one of my favorite ghostface killers -- emma roberts seems to be typecast as the mega bitch a lot, but it's a role she plays extremely well every time. it's just a shame that 2011 couldn't yet see the genius of this remake. also Sydney's "don't fuck with the original" line has to be one of her most iconic of the whole series.
Two things i wanna say about this movie:
1) I think it so interesting at the time of the release of this movie it didnt peform well at the box office (I think due to the amount time between S3 and S4) but over the recent years it's has been praised highly
2) After S3 that has been a complaint from audience about the strength of killers capabilities to do what they do

Yeah 2011 was early cellphone social media era. They had a good intuition about the future and the technology. Emma is too small for the strenght needed for sure lol ... but when you realy want something (fame) ... maybe ;)
I absolutely love Scream 4, however there are a lot of deleted scenes and things that didn't make the final cut that I think would have made the storyline (especially with how these killings are supposed to resemble the original ones) and movie better overall. I kind of wish I didn't know about those because now every time I watch the movie, I think about them.
That being said, Scream 4 was in my top two of the franchise for the longest time. With the release of 5 and 6, my rankings have changed but 4 is still near the top.

The extended cut is better... those extra scenes even out the more crazy scenes, more of the new characters and also has a very gritty crimescene scene.
It definately was ahead of it's time.
The believability of the Ghostface reveals always stretch it. But they don’t care and continue to get 6ft huge guys to be in the mask until the 4 ft 11 girl reveals herself 😂😂🤷🏾♂️👍🏾
