I think that giving credit to someone is a great thing to do. Always. Same for managers: if someone in your team did a good job, tell others about it! It doesn't make you look bad, it makes your employee look good (and he will like you more, for that matter). This thing about not saying anything good about other people is so old, it only shows that YOU are insecure. So kudos on sharing your designer's contact, dear.
One big UGH to whoever that RUclipsr was. I've noticed that less and less are crediting being inspired by others for content. It's too bad because I believe we all go further faster and more happily when we work together and stay honest. Anyway, great and inspiring video, queen! x

Practice with a script so you feel confident . Also make sure you have facts about the quality of your work based on your quality reviews and the statistics about the payscale for your role. You are worth it! Goodluck!

Im Sorry to hear that some one used you and your kind hearted attitude to get information from you with zero gratitude. I have been a huge "envy" type person in the past, blocking people and hating women cause they are better than me in my eyes, they have more, they are more successful bla blah blah. But after reading a book called "Girl Code" It helped me look deep down and find the underlying reason why. Its so wonderful to see others preaching that same philosophy and i think the relationships are alot more important than the competitive attitude. I have a blog which has literally 4 followers and i could understand why it wasnt getting seen and it was my own fault i wasn't getting the traffic or the reach outs, because i was focusing too much on hating these woman who i actually deeply inspired and not focusing on what mattered to me and my dreams and turning that envy into positive and possibly life long friendships. Thank you for sharing this message and thank your for being the example of a kind and empowering woman!

It's definitely hard to get back into giving up so much of my time but as you said, it's the little daily decisions that make the difference... You are very humble about the sharing kind of stuff! My mother used to tell me people that are successful usually don't tell their secrets because thats how they're successful, but I see no meaning and value in not sharing something that could benefit other people because in the end we are all people, trying to achieve and get through something. I prefer to help, just because its my choice :) and it's their decision whether to help you back/appreciate you or selfishly take the credit. This is great advice. I'm working on starting my own pastry business out of my apartment right now so I can work up towards a coffee shop and bakery. I'd like to add that at every opportunity, talk to other people about what you're doing, passionately. I've had so many people support me because they see how excited I get talking about what I love. Just talking about it with others starts to make it tangible.

I totally agree! In the music business it's all about connections. But people can totally tell when you're just being buddy-buddy because you see them as an employment prospect. I had a master class with a guy who works for Disney, talking about how difficult it was for him to be heard, all because the people he was around didn't want to give up "names" for their people.

This is super pertinent to me right now. I love fashion and have wanted to work in the industry for years now. I have experience in design, styling, and as a seamstress, but I just never seemed to be able to make anything happen with it. There is so much help in the Bay , if someone looses their job they have a social group of people that help immediately. I am a single mommy NO ONE HERE has even referred me to help me find a job. I come from working with major Corporations and great positions to a place where people just don't care. I started my own you tube channel in May had a friends kid edit them he never taught me how to edit, he falls off planet, now I'm stuck. I have racked my brain trying to figure out how to edit, nothing works ( I'm 54)for the life of me I'm stuck. I miss having my voice and filming. My girl is 14 I'm the last person she wants to hang with. So my little RUclips channel at least gave me people virtual people to chat with. I'm a legal assistant in Vancouver and same thing! I get paid $12 less PER HOUR then the average assistant here!
