I absolutely love my 18' 450 FX. Totally legitimate woods weapon in northern New England. I got it all guarded up and lights then a plate. I get to ride all different color bikes and engines types. I would put it next to any other color bike for a head to head battle. It's race ready... I know that's a KTM thing but THE BLUE BIKES ARE LEGIT!!!
Hey CC! I say leave it the way it is. I am excited to see what you do and the process of making it street legal! Thanks for all the information! I learn so much from your videos.
When you order the Tusk dual sport kit get a second brake pressure switch so the brake lights work on both brakes. I have done this conversion on a WR450f and a KTM 200xc two stroke, not too bad to install.
Cyclecruza, I've been watching your channel for years and this is my observation. You obsess about equipment too much. You bought a dirt bike so take it to the dirt and ride it! Have fun and build skills and mastery and forget about the mods for a while. You will have a blast. Seriously I can't go through watching you rebuild another entire bike for the road. You already have two road bikes. Can't even watch the rest of the video. I wanna see you have FUN man! Like you always talk about.
Man its going to be so nice...I agree, just get the extra set of wheels with dual-sport tires and call it a day! No fuss -no muss. Its going to be a blast on the street and in the dirt!
Problem #1......if you're going to do any pavement miles, your butt will KILL you. Sitting on the side of a 4x4 wooden beam eventually hurts. I plan to sink a few grand into my new MT-09. Haven't done that yet, just flyscreen and radiator guard.
Put offroad tires and suspensions on your CBR 1000RR and go offroad, on track or on trails... Sounds stupid ? That's my conception of sumo. Put road tires and breaks on a greatly designed offroad bike... Ridiculous.. That being said, do what you want ! Cheers
@@speedpower2740 Yes and i've to admit, it's very funny. But it's still ridiculous in my mind. We have great off road bikes, why using them on road ? Specially if you have a CBR in the garage lol ! I like to use a bike for what it is intended.
What about factory bikes like the Husaberg 650fs? And a 450 supermoto IS faster than a litre bike around a tight track. What could a road bike with dirt tires do better than a dirt bike?
When I first got my CRF 250L I thought about getting another set of rims and tires for street tires. When I started to research it, there is a lot more to it than just pulling the axle out and putting on your street tires. I'm not really a supermoto guy so It doesn't really interest me but it would be cool for your channel. There are a lot of people on here that would like to see it. I understand why people like it. It's just not my thing.
I don't think sumoing it would be a good idea. Considering how much you use your bikes ( no offence intended ) it would be stupid spending more than 1000$ to get the sumo wheels, tires, brakes, etc to then use it just 6-7 times.
I’m 15 I’m into motorcycles love em very much and you’ve got a awesome channel cycle cruzza keep up the great work! Love your videos man your channel inspires me so much to ride motorcycles! One day I’ll be riding like you!
Hi!! Nice idea to do!!! Could you tell me,what’s coming with this brand new model? I mean, coming with tools or set piston? I got chance to buy one old stock new and dealer says, just coming book and couple spoke wrenches. Thanks!
Nice one CC man. Always go with your instinct and don’t SUMO as you will get to mudder in the wood 😆 nice one for sharing the tips on how you are working on this cool new bike. One love biker family
@@mattseaman5397 ahhh I bet this bike would look nice with street tires. Thanks for answering question man. I have a bunch of them cz I'm new to bikes and not to many have been answered lol
@@sinatra617 You can learn a lot by watching such vids. And asking others, that's really cool. I ride since June, so I'm a pretty new rider too. CycleCruza gave me the Idea. 😁
Keep your sprocket for sumo on your sumo wheels, keep your larger brake on your sumo wheels and keep get good at switching brake calipers. I know it is a lot of work, but once you get it nailed down it is pretty quick and simple to switch back and forth.
Tbh if you gonna go for like dual sport rims AGAIN you should just go for the damn supermoto that was your whole point of getting the bike I'm sorry but that doesn't make sense to me Especially when u Said you wanted to get another pair of 21/18" wheels just think about it that you already have those and go for the 17"
Not true, MX track was the main reason for the bike, the other shit is extra. Also, I've always wanted to compare the wr450f with the wr250r as a dual sport, now I can with the YZ450FX, but this bike was for intended for dirt. Winter time it will be used as a dual sport. I'm not convinced to try sumo part time.
@@CycleCruza well it's still your bike isn't it but I think after teasing us with two planned supermoto builds I personally think you should commit but if those are your reasons to buy the bike fair enough And talking about the big brake kit. My opinion is that as long that you are not on the sm track it isn't absolutely necessary. Or do you feel like your wr250 brakes aren't good enough just maybe think about it that way
whats the problem with the conversion? get some forks for the sumo setup, so you just undo the forkclamps + the bigger master brake cylinder for the rear just try it with changing the settings on the shock and a different sproket on the wheel so in total the change should be 10 screws or something like that
I hope those hand guards with the turn signals are easy to remove because you might want to take them off for the MX track. Most people don't have them at the track because if your arms slip through them on a landing and you crash, you'll break your arms. Took me forever to figure why nobody has them for MX.
Awesome info! I’m looking into getting a super moto and have been told by a lot of people that a WR would be much easier to convert than a YZF. I learned something new today, thanks! I totally know what you mean by not wanting to switch back and forth from supermoto to dirt. I feel the same way about snow biking. It’s so much work to change back and forth. Definitely best to have a bike designated just for dirt, and a bike designated just for snow. I think you’d be making a reasonable choice to not go the supermoto route with this bike.
The best street legal dirt bike is the one that looks rides like a dirt bike. Its like you being a little kid on a little xr 100 pissing your neighbors off riding up and down the street with the sound baffle taken out only now its legal! Enjoy that bike man.
Going super moto is a cool idea but that engine is a closed course competition machine with very short maintenance intervals. Putting street mileage on it you'd be adjusting valves, replacing cam chains and doing top end builds regularly. I'm not sure on exact intervals but at 1000 miles a month you'd be into the valves monthly easy
UPDATE: I did supermoto this bike and the front brake is AWESOME! I love it in supermoto trim BUT I can't ride in wet stuff off-road. THIS BIKE IS A BEAST!
I totally think you made the right choice getting this bike! ...you've had great luck with your Japanese bikes, so why not stick with that! I really like the WiFi feature it has too! ...that's some high-tech shit! You're gonna love the Trail Tech unit! My Beta came with one & it's cool having a tachometer on a dirt bike! ...in addition to everything else it does! I was gonna tell you, I change the oil & filter in my Beta every 20 hours, which works out to about 1000 miles. And I've got over 90 hours on it now with no valve adjustment or piston replacement needed, so maybe talk to some people on the forums or something & get an idea of what others are doing about their service, because it sounded like the factory recommendations for that bike are too much! Peace bro!
Don’t get the Supermoto set up yet, would love to see you hit e off road action with the 450 & get some feedback on the differences against e 250😄👍🏼 , can’t wait to see you ride it
You do know that you have a mighty-mouse of a bike. Looks small but strong as hell!!! Hang on CC because you about to go for a real RIDE!!!!!💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨
Sumo that bike!!!! You won’t regret it! The sportsman idea is a good game plan.... I messed up and sold my daily DRZ SM for something “faster “ 09 KLX 450R and I tried to daily it like the DRZ. Got sick of weekly oil changes and bi weekly valve checks..... I can tell you,it was fast!
I just saw this one today, not getting notifications. But please show the build process part by part please. I love to learn about motorcycles since I am trying to get my first motorcycle. I am starting with hopefully something like a Ninja 250 or 300 or 400 max. Any advice would be appreciated! 👍👌🏍😎
CC..I would say ask yourself realistically how much % of time will you ride this bike on vs off road? If your honest with yourself you will pick the right option.
I was torn between getting a YZ 450F, a YZ 450FX ,or a WR 450F next year. I already have a street bike, so that kinda eliminates the need for a WR. The one thing that is selling the FX to me is simple, the kick stand, which can be deployed at anytime. I like the fact of not having to carry around a stupid triangle stand.
Most important is the FX has a 160 watt stator that can run all of your street legal stuff and it has 5 speed wide ratio gearbox, kickstand AND the 2019 FX has wifi, you can TUNE the power of your bike via your smartphone. You can download free maps from Yamaha, from your buddies or customize one for yourself and upload it to the bike in seconds. Btw, the FX is the same bike as the 2018-19 YZ450F. This is the sickest motorcycle I have ever owned so far, it wheelies wildly in every gear with map 1 (bike has a 2 map switch on the handlebar, one for POWER and one for Trails that is smoother)
It’s doesn’t make sense to sumo it. I would definitely say to throw some 60-40 on/off roads on it. That way if you want to do some off-road you can but you can still hit the twistys.
That's my thinking as well/ Shit I have fun in the twisties on my wr250r with DOT knobbies. I know you can go lean more with sumo wheels but we don't have proper twisties.
Hey the bike looks awesome great choice can you please record everything that you do to the bike because I'm thinking of doing the same and Supermoto Wheels sound great me and some other friends cannot wait to see you riding this bike
The blue wheals are sweet , don’t waist your money on different wheels 🤷🏼♂️ and don’t worry about the mantinence issues , that’s for riders that live at redline , enjoy it , that’s a sweat ride !!!
Supermoto wheels including front brake upgrade, is a 30 min swap. Suspension is fine but if you really want it stiffer, crank up the comp. If you've ever ridden a bike with a set of 17 sumo you'd get it.
once you've sorted the app can you show us some changes and how you can control power delivery. cheers!! sweet bike !! i'm looking at one when they are available here.
Realistically I don't think in necessary to follow the manufacturer maintenance schedule if you're not racing it. I've also heard this from many other riders. I don't know for sure but it would make sense.
If you've never ridden a supermoto before then I say get the 17" wheels, you can get a set with tires and the brake Rotor/bracket for about $1100 with tires, if you don't like them I'm sure you could sell them to someone, supermoto bikes are fun
Since you haven't got it dirty yet, you can probably take it back to the dealer, and trade it for an FJR-1300, that you should have got in the first place!
your location seems like sm wouldnt be as fun (lack of twisties)and your terrain is diff than mine yours i see grass and tons of flat lands in northern ca i have million twisties, every dirt road is dry with way too much dust easily ridable with 17 and street tires, and forrests that are always on fire, but i use sm wheels and tires and ride offroad all summer/spring/fall no worries..i also have a set of 18/21 for more rugged offroad, or if im going with a crew of all guys with 18/21s... i like the idea of dual sport tire/rims though, what color are you thinking? blue? i wonder if gold would look good. ps. the wr250 looked sick murdered out!!
YZ's like stock headers.... I agree with you, just do slipon.... they are a pain in the ass to tune when you put a Aftermarket header. I had one before my KTM350SXF. I loved the power of the YZ450 but on the MX track it was too much for me! I went down to a KTM 350 SXF
Keep it for the dirt, but still get it road legal. I was in the same predicament with my crf450x, but ultimately kept it dirt worthy and I don’t regret it. Just my .02 though.
MX track, trails and some dual sporting on street. The wr250r is not for MX. I've been wanting to compare a wr450f with a wr250r for years, so now I have the opportunity with this yz450f.
I highly highly recommend the thumper jockey Enduro 3000 headlight kit on Rocky mountain. Its two small round lights that you can hardly tell they are there until you turn them on, so bright. That what I used instead of those big bar lights. Much more sleek and sexy.
hey cyclecruza man that is going to be a sweeeeeeeeeeeet bike can't wait to see it when it's complete,,will be a ripper ,,best thing it's blue baby (thumbs up)
Cyclecruza reconsider sumo wheels for the wr. I bought my 13 250r in March and it came with 2 sets of wheels. The sumo wheel has a dedicated rotor and a bracket for the brake caliper. Its honestly like having 2 different bikes. Sumo trim is faster due to the smaller wheels gps verified. You will not regret
The first swap I did I kept the dirt suspension and felt plenty planted on the pavement. I weigh 200 lbs and felt no difference. Supermoto wheels on dirt is fun in a controlled chaos kinda way. The second swap I adjusted my front and rear suspension and it felt the same on road. TRANSITIONING from on to off road in a ride felt smoother but it's hardly noticeable for the most part
Same. But since I'm using it a lot on street I will only check the valves and change the piston once a year . I'll do oil changes every 7-10 hours to keep it clean.
How far is the closest Mx track? You should hit the track before you do the build. Once you do conversion it’s not going to be track ready. At least you’ll know the before and after.
Could you talk about CRF250 RALLY? what's your opinion? I watched the crf450r and get your point of view but very interested for crf250 rally and if can you let your opinion I'll appreciate Greeting s
Gp with the standard L. The rally is wasted potential. Weighs more than a drz400 with like 30percent less power. Large tank is nice but it's not even worth considering because of the weight alone. Now if you can find a good one used and only do street then sure its a good deal. Otherwise skip it
I say supermoto. Especially if you move to north carolina because the roads there are unbelievable. And you will be closer to some tracks for some track days. Brakes and gearing ahouldnt be a problem switching feom dirt to sumo. Just a few mins and your switched.

HOW TO MAKE ANY DIRT BIKE STREET LEGAL: ruclips.net/video/SIqULuhxoXA/видео.html
It’s a dirt bike man - save her for the rough stuff.
For real, keep it off-road. Where he lives it'll be pointless making it a supermoto.
Keep it as dirt. Get on the track
@@shockadellick you have to ride within your comfort level. To many try to ride thinking they can ride like the pros, stay within your riding abilty.
@@shockadellick ive rode mx my whole life ive seen guys that are good enough to compete but just ride for fun even at 45 yrs old
I absolutely love my 18' 450 FX.
May see you on the Cleveland streets in a couple months! Great videos!
Cheers
Have you tried sumo? The light weight makes it amazing in the twisties, and even with road tires they're surprisingly capable offroad.
@@speedpower2740 Yes and i've to admit, it's very funny. But it's still ridiculous in my mind. We have great off road bikes, why using them on road ? Specially if you have a CBR in the garage lol ! I like to use a bike for what it is intended.
numba76 lol
Look up joeymacmoto.... takes a ninja offloading lol
Just ride the fckn thing!!!!!
He needs to take it to the mx track
+Collin Mac...1st he needs to take it too a MX class
I am SO ready to see this build series
Definetly sumo. But try the bike on the track first. Prepare for the surprise of your life...and get some mx boots.
Deffo the MX boots trail boots grip too much.
@@wordreet if he is going to ride trails he should get the sidi crossfire3 srs. Get sumo soles, mx soles and enduro soles
Absolutely, in my other comment I told CC to do what he wants AND to do as I say and go sumo!
Cruza YOU SLAKIN MAN WE WANT AT LEAST 2 VIDEOS A DAY!
i say track it out for a few moths on dirt and hit some good trails then sumo it!
I’m 15 I’m into motorcycles love em very much and you’ve got a awesome channel cycle cruzza keep up the great work! Love your videos man your channel inspires me so much to ride motorcycles! One day I’ll be riding like you!
Doing the same build with my YZ250fx can’t wait to see how this bike turns out!
Hi!! Nice idea to do!!! Could you tell me,what’s coming with this brand new
model? I mean, coming with tools or set piston? I got chance to buy one old stock new and dealer says, just coming book and couple spoke wrenches.
Thanks!
Cool bike . Love your videos by the way . Please let this bike be what it was ment to be ...a dirt bike .
Nice one CC man. Always go with your instinct and don’t SUMO as you will get to mudder in the wood 😆 nice one for sharing the tips on how you are working on this cool new bike. One love biker family
One of your Yamas should become a Sumo. Why not the WR ?
What's a sumo? Sorry for the dumb question it I'm new to bikes. Is it super moto?
@@sinatra617 Super Moto. It's basically a dual sport bike with street tires.
Matt Seaman because it’s a 250...
Nice of them to offer a kit. Yamaha also went one tooth bigger on the rear sprocket over the 18 model, to give more grunt on the low end.
Keep your sprocket for sumo on your sumo wheels, keep your larger brake on your sumo wheels and keep get good at switching brake calipers. I know it is a lot of work, but once you get it nailed down it is pretty quick and simple to switch back and forth.
Tbh if you gonna go for like dual sport rims AGAIN you should just go for the damn supermoto that was your whole point of getting the bike I'm sorry but that doesn't make sense to me
Especially when u Said you wanted to get another pair of 21/18" wheels just think about it that you already have those and go for the 17"
exactly.
@@CycleCruza well it's still your bike isn't it but I think after teasing us with two planned supermoto builds I personally think you should commit but if those are your reasons to buy the bike fair enough
And talking about the big brake kit. My opinion is that as long that you are not on the sm track it isn't absolutely necessary. Or do you feel like your wr250 brakes aren't good enough just maybe think about it that way
This is too much of a beast for you at an mx track. You will try it once and never again.
@@purpleether5405 a 450 mx bike is insane. I ride a beta 390 rr and it has a ton of power but a 450 mx bike is on a whole other level.
whats the problem with the conversion?
get some forks for the sumo setup, so you just undo the forkclamps + the bigger master brake cylinder
for the rear just try it with changing the settings on the shock and a different sproket on the wheel
so in total the change should be 10 screws or something like that
WR250R in supermoto may be better option. You have race dirt bike now
Tbh the wr250r is underpowered for the street.
For this type of cases if you feel the power is not enough, you can always add some big bore kit. They have it for WR and DRZ as well
@@adelinzahariev3806 Still too slow for me atleast.
Adelin Zahariev lol 250 sm is dumb.
I hope those hand guards with the turn signals are easy to remove because you might want to take them off for the MX track. Most people don't have them at the track because if your arms slip through them on a landing and you crash, you'll break your arms. Took me forever to figure why nobody has them for MX.
FINALLY THE VIDEO I BEEN WAITING FOR
Awesome info!
I wanted to change my bike into a street bike. Thanks so much for the video!!!
Dirtlegal is worth a look.
Keep it dirt ready.
Peace bro!
Don’t get the Supermoto set up yet, would love to see you hit e off road action with the 450 & get some feedback on the differences against e 250😄👍🏼 , can’t wait to see you ride it
Western NC awaits you man !!
You do know that you have a mighty-mouse of a bike. Looks small but strong as hell!!! Hang on CC because you about to go for a real RIDE!!!!!💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨💨
Just dual sport and trail ride the bike for a while and see how it goes. That may give you all the fun you need!
It's going to get hot at slow speed through the woods. You may want to consider upgrading your cooling. Also heat shield your gas tank.
I would just use dual sport tires especially with winter approaching
Hey Cruz A TELL US ALL ABOUT HOW the bike does on the road and how it does from the street and say for 45 miles to some trails and back home.
Would it ruin the engine in cross country sumo? With the oil change intervals I would be riding and wrenching every 10 hours?
You have to change the oil at least every 500 miles. This bike would not make a good sumo for long distance travel.
I just saw this one today, not getting notifications. But please show the build process part by part please. I love to learn about motorcycles since I am trying to get my first motorcycle. I am starting with hopefully something like a Ninja 250 or 300 or 400 max. Any advice would be appreciated! 👍👌🏍😎
My favorite bike of yours so far!
CC..I would say ask yourself realistically how much % of time will you ride this bike on vs off road? If your honest with yourself you will pick the right option.
SuMo for life
I was torn between getting a YZ 450F, a YZ 450FX ,or a WR 450F next year.
You should transform the 450 into a snowbike this winter, and consider putting on a big bore kit
sounds like a good way to kill the bike..
CycleCruza no replacement for displacement my man
Hey the bike looks awesome great choice can you please record everything that you do to the bike because I'm thinking of doing the same and Supermoto Wheels sound great me and some other friends cannot wait to see you riding this bike
If you buy that LED light will you link it because i also have dirt bike and i cant find any good LEDs
Realistically I don't think in necessary to follow the manufacturer maintenance schedule if you're not racing it. I've also heard this from many other riders. I don't know for sure but it would make sense.
I would full on sumo the wr250r if not the yz450fx
I knew you’d bail on the SM, Too much of a pain to swap, gotta have a dedicated one
If you've never ridden a supermoto before then I say get the 17" wheels, you can get a set with tires and the brake Rotor/bracket for about $1100 with tires, if you don't like them I'm sure you could sell them to someone, supermoto bikes are fun
Man you already have a beast for street so keep it for mud 👊🏼
I own a 2017 yz450fx LOVE IT
Since you haven't got it dirty yet, you can probably take it back to the dealer, and trade it for an FJR-1300, that you should have got in the first place!
Nice bike can't wait to see the build
Now you have a propper bike to Supermoto! David Aprooves!!! LOL
your location seems like sm wouldnt be as fun (lack of twisties)and your terrain is diff than mine yours i see grass and tons of flat lands in northern ca i have million twisties, every dirt road is dry with way too much dust easily ridable with 17 and street tires, and forrests that are always on fire, but i use sm wheels and tires and ride offroad all summer/spring/fall no worries..i also have a set of 18/21 for more rugged offroad, or if im going with a crew of all guys with 18/21s... i like the idea of dual sport tire/rims though, what color are you thinking? blue? i wonder if gold would look good. ps. the wr250 looked sick murdered out!!
What was your deciding reason for going with FMF rather than Yoshimura? Just curious
Half the price
So sick ! That's awesome !
Who is still rockin with CycleCruza in 2018?!
Been here since his 250r
been here since his china scooter
If you don't sumo it what was the point of even buying it? You will basically have two of the almost same bikes.
Excited to see the build man!! But please don't put super moto tires on it. Put some really good offoad dual sport tires. You won't regret it man!!
hey cyclecruza
man that is going to be a sweeeeeeeeeeeet bike
can't wait to see it when it's complete,,will be a ripper ,,best thing it's blue baby (thumbs up)
This thing rips! I still love me wr250r tho, it's nice to not have to worry about doing maintenance with the wr and still have fun.
I know I have an unpopular opinion but I’ve never really been a fan of supermotors. I like my dualsports as dirt oriented as possible.
What about the suspension?
The first swap I did I kept the dirt suspension and felt plenty planted on the pavement. I weigh 200 lbs and felt no difference. Supermoto wheels on dirt is fun in a controlled chaos kinda way.
The second swap I adjusted my front and rear suspension and it felt the same on road. TRANSITIONING from on to off road in a ride felt smoother but it's hardly noticeable for the most part
Love your vids
Question:
How do the recommended service intervals compare with these two 2019s?, (F vs FX)
I watched the crf450r and get your point of view but very interested for crf250 rally and if can you let your opinion I'll appreciate
