Just like everyone else's comments, this saved me! After hundreds of swear words, I'm glad I found your video, because I think yours is the only one that shows how to remove this type of stopper. 🙏. Thank you!
Wow, I also have the old style without a screw! You saved the day or should I say year; because I attempted this over a year ago. Thanks to you and your helper.
You SAVED me here buddy. I want to add for anyone who had to go through this absolute mess: My unit was lower for some reason than your video and For the first part, I used the wrench part of a combination wrench since it would fit, 9/16 size. Note I couldn't twist that knob off on my own likely due to grit/rust and used my craftsman Robo Wrench which is great for jobs I fear breaking something like that knob. It did come off then I used a 7/15th on the second bolt which I had less of a struggle on than the folks in the video thanks to there not being a stopper to get under. All in all, I want to give a shout out to Watco for killing an hour or two of my life and building what is an extremely stupid design. They have the audacity to write "patented" on the flat part...
Hallelujah! I watched so many videos before I found yours, and nothing was working! But I did what you said and you were right! The drain is now unclogged and I thank you for your help!
Hello from 4 years later! Same situation. Bought a house, drain plug didn't work. Could not find resources on how to get the drain plug out and this is the only video that actually shows off this kind of ridiculous design.
You are a lifesaver! Our upstairs bathroom has been clogged for a long time and nobody knew how to fix it (the downstairs shower has a completely different stopper, no clue why) and we've been having to use our roommates bathroom. Now we can finally use our own shower! Thank you!
@@paulleininger4823 Yes, He does! I couldn't get the drain plug out, so I got out the long needle nose pliers and was able to pull a lot of gunk out. I didn't try the wrench, ran out of patience.
Thanks! I knew that flat edge needed a wrench on it but was struggling to figure out how it worked since the cap was very tight. New to us house, two disposable razor covers and a bunch of nasty hair under it.

Thank you very much!! Five years after you posted this video and still no other videos explaining this type of stopper. Saved me big time!!
You are welcome! Glad it helped you!
I could not remember how I removed it a couple of years ago. Thank You!
That's one of the reasons we made a video! 😂
Specialty pliers, Blue Bird 25, fit this application perfectly. I inherited my 65 year old pair from my late father. I thank him often for these.
Great tip!😀

I really love this video. It helped me a lot. I also like very much that you prayed for help in figuring it out.
I too looked at many useless videos until I saw the Watco logo and added it to my search. Thank you so much for sharing the correct method!!!

Great to hear -- that's why I made the video I couldn't figure out how to do it.

THANK YOU. An answer to our drain prayers. So grateful you posted this. (This is my first ever RUclips comment, that is how grateful I am.)

That’s the one we have too. Such a pain
"Actually we prayed." I loved that. I do the same thing when something doesn't work. I'd hate being a plumber! They deserve to get paid $90 an hour.
Yeah you are right. I pray for all my projects, God knows how to do everything! I hope it helped.
