Oh my Gina! My Mom made these often growing up. But my memory always returns to my brother’s house in Connecticut in the 1970’s. He was newly married, serving in the Navy. They were poor newly weds, really poor. Lol. On my visit to them all they served was chicken livers, rice, and gravy made from a gravy packet. At the time I did not think too much of it (I was you g and naive too). It would be a few years later that I would learn of their financial struggle at that time. They were so determined to make it on their own and would not ask anyone for assistance. They could only afford a big bag of rice, gravy packets, and the livers were a small splurge in honor of my visit. Oh those were the days! I will try these soon. Thanks for the walk down memory lane! Rest well tonight!

Invited by a neighbor for dinner, my mom complimented her livers, and neighbor apologizes they’re not as good coz she didn’t have a cast iron skillet, which she said, the only way to activate the iron in liver is in cast iron.....😬😬😝
I love chicken livers! I always seasoned my flour really well and put it in a gallon zip lock or paper bag and put my livers in that and shook it up. My hands got less messy that way lol.

Oh Gina, this is exactly how I do chicken livers seasonings and all, also dredging the livers in flour and making the gravy in the same pan to lock in the flavors! I also add sweet peppers with the tomatoes (all cut smaller), for added color and flavor . I too grew up on chicken livers so I learned this recipe from my Mom and have used it in my own kitchen for years. Great recipe...you are making me so hungry girl!!!'

Gina, I LOVE chicken livers. I've not had them in a while, so I may just have some tomorrow! My son doesn't like them so I'll have to fry him some legs. I love my livers covered in black pepper. I grew up with mama fixing them and have always loved them. I love beef liver and onions too. When I was little, one of my sisters was anemic. Our doctor told mama to have her eat liver once a week to build her blood up. So we had either chicken or beef liver once a week.
I've been recently diagnosed with anemia. So I have to increase my iron , I don't eat beef so I found chicken liver which I've never eaten. So I had to check Gina's recipes. I just made this today and instead of tomatoes I used Rotel dice tomatoes w/Chile's and added yellow bell pepper. The flavors in this recipe are 💣. I just have to get use to eating liver😪😪 For me liver is definitely and acquired taste.

here in Seattle, there is a small place in pike place market run by a guy named Sam that, among other things, fries chicken livers. they are absolutely sublime. he also does gizzards and hearts. you can get a bag of chicken innards in a bag, and stroll around the market eating them like popcorn.

I decide to try your recipe exactly the way you said. While I was seasoning it my mouth was watering in a bad wayI really wanted to puked but I suck on a minty candy to help my nauseating. I made it and it was the most delicious tastiest meal ever. It was so good with that white rice and I added scotch bonnet peppers because I love spicy food. I was like Oh mama . This is the best meal ever. I didn’t realize what I was missing. I made it about three times already . Thank you so much Gina for this recipe and for encouraging us to try stuff. Just found your channel and learned how to cook gizzards. I will try the livers too. I love flavoring my water with ginger too! I peel it - put it in the blender with water and freeze in ice cube trays. Then just pop one in my drink. I also do this with mint - so refreshing in the summer. Will keep you posted on my results with the recipes. A little nervous but will try.

I separately cooked some chicken gizzards in my crock pot and will chop them up and add them and also some water chestnuts which I chopped up for some crunch. I love the chewy and crunchy textures mixed with the chicken liver. a true party in your mouth...ooooooeeee 😋

I live in upper Michigan and it's 73 right now we had a storm will through the area last night nothing bug and alit if rain we had so much snow that it's been dry so we need rainabd lirs of it I have lilacs and they haven't started to bloom yet so I think we are about 2 to 3 weeks behind everyone else at this point it's just memorial day Monday so it's early aluttle yet so time will tell glad you enjoyed your birthday looked like u had a good time hope you gotrelaxed for awhile before the week starts again
