Thanks for the test, Not sure how valid the test is; VW ID7 is a 77kwh battery, i mean it's expected to charge faster. I liked that you have Tesla model S here and you can see, their curves aren't so different from each other.
Amazing performance from the ID7 - but are we at a point where it really does not matter that much anymore? Back to how I love the design and feel while driving?
ID7 with larger battery should be compared. Seems that VW could manage the charging curve to better. Ist this the way: bigger batteries with ~100kWh and 20 min charging times to 70%?
Why not compare with Kia EV6 or Ioniq 5? Charging with these "old cars" is still a great experience and would be a good baseline comparison for fast charging cars.
3:42 - What? How do you get that the ID7 is in “first” place?? Polestar 4 has an almost 20 % lager battery, and at this stage polestar has charged almost 74 kWh and the ID7 65 kWh in the same time?
Yeah, I dont get this either as the math doesn't add up... The ID7 starts with a battery capacity of 7.7 kWh and at 3:42 time stamp, the ID7 has increased its capacity/charged to 65.2 kWh, which if you deduct the 7.7 kWh it started with, it would mean that until this mark the ID7 has charged 65.2 - 7.7 = 57.5 kWh, while the P4 during this time has charged 74.1 kWh. Even if that number 74.1 kWh is gross and you were to deduct an efficincy loss of 10% (probably less than that), the P4 still has charged 0.9 * 74.1 = 66.7 kWh, which is still 66.7 - 57.5 kWh = 9.2 kWh more than the ID7. I don't see how the ID7 "won", when it didn't even come close...
All this will not be that relevant in another 3 or 4 years. The time in minutes will probably display something like 8 minutes for 80% charge. Also, that 80% charge will be after the driver has been travelling for a good 700 to 800km. It is coming. I cannot wait. I can see it being the standard test for EV,s too. They are improving batteries every 6 months to 12 months so between now and say 2027 that is 3 to 5 times better technology. Bring it on.
Hi Bjorn you can’t compare in % charging between a battery with 82 kwh and 100 kwh. You recommeded once to compare with miles charged per time unit!!! The 100 kwh batteries are charged at 90% mores miles/kwh than ID7 at 100% Please don’t compare like this. Expect more of you as an expert!
Spec the ID7 up properly and there’s not much in it price wise (for the single motor). I dunno - these two are on my shortlist. Just not sure. ‘Sensible’ vs interesting. 😂
Great video Björn, really interesting. Thanks 👌🏻👍🏻☺️

the ID.7 is the winner in my opinion
Not bad, need to manage the BMS better to not have that dip. Maybe another thing to do software update on lol

Ich liebe Deutschland auch, but the p4 is still my favourite
Will you soon also do a test of Polestar 3 ?
In 42 minutes 18 kwh units charged. Not bad!

Doesent polestar 4 need 500amp +to get max chargingspeed?
That's the Polestar 3. Different platforms and battery packs.
The lucid air pure would charge even slower than all of them.... On 800V architecture 😢
The ID.7 89kW charges even quicker than the 83kW model....
*kWh
You mean the 91 gross and 86 kWh net battery?

Compairing P4 with ID7 is like compairing a Volvo with a Porche...

@@philw4625 Spec? You can spec a volvo like a Porsche but it's still a Volvo 😂
ID7 felt like a VW passat when I drove it. P4 feels lika a Mercedes S class.
Volvo IS DED, geely from.now on
@@rmkkkk and you are....
That Polestar 4 is such a missed opportunity
