I’ve learned a lot about central vacuums over the years of watching your channel and it helped me pick out the right system for my parents as a Christmas gift

My grandfather installed his Kenmore Central Vacuum in the spring of 77, as he was building the house. Still works to this day!

Very fascinating as always! You could've bumped the Panasonic literature in the video as well since they took over from Whirlpool and were the last models they've ever produced before they fully discontinued them:) Interestingly enough, the Galaxie GA-100 uses the same cyclonic system as the Kenmores today if someone ever wanted a direct replacement unit. I've been to a giant home before with two of those Galaxies, one in the garage and one in the basement.

Oh yes! Man, I miss Sears. I love Kenmore cleaners.
I’m curious, what was the difference between the model 200 and 300 as well as the model 500 and 600? What was the 400 like?
Secondly, the unit that you unboxed, is that the unit that replaced the 500/600? Or was that offered alongside them later on?
I have never seen any of the older models around here except the one that you unboxed.
There are LOTS of the later ones built by Eureka and CanaVac around though. The newer ones were also actually quite common in new constructions.

I have actually seen a Kenmore or two that was installed at new construction. The guy built his house himself back in the day, and installed the system as he did. And as I actually started writing, I realize I have some cousins down in Tennessee that did the same, but they did it later with an 80s system using standard tubing and toilet doors. Both of these were houses that were completely owner built though.

And I know of a third that was done similarly, Colin's grandpa!

I believe username cyberlight22's grandparents had their Kenmore system new when the house was built. According to what I was told.

@@panasonicvac4036 A friend of mine out in eastern Nebraska, his grandparents still have the gold Kenmore unit and system they installed back in the 70s when they built as well.

@@panasonicvac4036 Sears's systems definitely aren't what we'd want today, but for their time, they were readily available, had a decent unit (not the best but not a bad one by the standards of the day. And just like with their canisters, they were good about pushing the PowerMate with it, which definitely made for a better system, so quite a lot of them were sold.

Is that gold unit similar to the one you have I believe?

I recall in your previous video where you mentioned Sears and Hayden began cooperating with attachment sets and fittings in the late 1980's or so. Were any of the Kenmore systems sold with the Hayden style electric inlet valves?

Not that I have ever seen, at least not in the USA. In Canada, Kenmore systems continue to be available. They were made by Elux/Eureka, then Canavac more recently.
