  • Turn the volume up loud as the sound quality is poor.
    My imobiliser had been playing up for a few months. I wanted to uninstall it but could not find any information or wiring diagrams to help me do this.
    My hand was forced when I changed the battery and the imobiliser failed altogether making my lighting system permanently live!!
    Excuse the quality I had no intention of putting this on here but when I realised I had to remove it I thought it would be helpful as I had been unable to find anything on the removal of it. Thank you for watching and I hope it helps.

    Having spent all afternoon looking for a wiring diagram to bridge my failed meta on my Fazer I tried you tube and came straight to your brilliant video. I'm off work Thursday and following your video will now remove the meta rather than spend £100 on a replacement plug in unit. Mark I commend your bravery and quality of your video instructions. Thanks Mark.

    I actually managed to sort it with the help of your video and a diagram from the alarm manufacturer, it was easier to bridge the wires and keep the loom in place in my case.
    Getting your knee down is easy, all you need is nice weather, practice and too get your arse off the seat. Once you get that initial knee on the ground moment your confidence and ability rapidly starts to increase.

    I have to say I have never touched a wiring loom before, and after watching your video you gave me the knowledge of how to remove this god awful alarm system from my ZX6R. Thank you very much for the upload, it really was a brilliant source of how to remove this system! When taking mine out, nothing was even soldered together! One to two twists and then taped in, no wonder it fails after so long!

      david c Glad it helped. There are some real sharks out there, twisted and taped in connections....reminds me of those scotchlocks which were also awful.

    Thanks for posting this video. My bike was a bit different to yours, but the principal was the same, and you helped to confirm what I already thought about the split wires that needed soldering back together. A bit of a faff to do, but a lot better than spending £90!!

    Awesome video. Just removed an Abletronics Absolute Protec that let the smoke out.
    Followed your method and now the old RSV Mille is up and running again. It’s an easy job that only took a few hours.
    Thanks!

    Mark
    Perfect video. I had similar issue with Solalarm imobiliser that I got fitted in UK 10 years ago on my GSXR, I moved to Australia and took my bike with me. Same thing happened, battery went flat, and despite changing the battery in remote and going through all the set up sequences that I could find on the web on forums (none worked). I also could not get wiring diagram or user manual anywhere on the web and looks like Solalarm has went out of business as couldn't find any support sites for them. I had similar issue when I my bike arrived in Australia 6 months after me, went out on a ride and the immobiliser remote fell off on route, and off course it automatically armed itself when I was at my destination. I had to leave it for a week before I got spare remote but couldn't get any info even then. Its a very daunting job when you look at the quantity of wires but a lot were earths, going to indicators, or tamper switches etc . Once you get them out of the way and cleaned up the rest is pretty easy once you have seen the video. I was dreading this job given lack of info available: no wiring or installation diagrams, no support from manufacturer, and no info on taking out my particular immobiliser on my model of bike etc. So I put it off for few days. Luckily I found this video and although it was a different bike and different imobilliser it made perfect sense and it only took about 2 hours with tea breaks and to go back to review video few times.
    Thanks again.

      Sean Padgett These immobilisers are a nightmare when they go wrong aren`t they. Glad the video helped a bit. When I told my insurance that it no longer had an immobiliser fitted it made no difference to the premium anyway!? On the subject of OZ we are just in the process of booking flights to Melbourne to see relatives at Xmas...can`t wait for some decent weather ...flippin English summers!

    This is a great video! not enough videos on RUclips for tricky jobs like this. had my bike booked in for an MoT Saturday and in the morning the chap came to pick it up and it wouldn't start. Tried everything to get it going even using the override code so safe to say the alarm seems to have had it. Useless META alarms! So they are going to remove the alarm on Monday hopefully. Had I come across this video a few days ago I would of attempted to remove it myself. The only difference on mine is that the led is mounted next to the speedo rather than at the back of the bike.

    Thank you for this, it confirmed what I thought I'd worked out from tracing the wires on my Blackbird - red/yellow (on mine) is from starter switch, and a black/white which is the earth for the ECU, both interrupted by the alarm.

      Hi Paul, thanks for your comment. I`m glad it helped confirm your thoughts. A blackbird is a nice bit of kit that I could only dream of.

    Glad to hear it helped. I know before I did it that I was concerned that it would be difficult as I could not find any info. Not that bad once you get going but like you say is a bit of a faff.

    Excellent video mate, thanks. Just how I removed the alarm from my RF900. I'm trying to explain (via e-mail) to a mate how to do this to his Bandit. He's non electrical but this will re-assure him it's not rocket science and as long as you're methodical it's not a huge job.

    I think im getting to a issue with my immobilizer with a 2010 S1000RR BMW. The time it takes when I turn the ignition on to see the dash light up is sometimes 30 seconds to possibly longer as I have to turn the key off then back on to see if that works. So is there a way to bypass this or just find a new part and install?

    Meta alarms always give problems, Got to remove mine from my R6 tomorrow, it's the v1 version not even the v2

    • @m2mark1
      @m2mark1  4 года назад

      Yes they do give problems, but then again these alarms are old now. A friend of mine had the same issue and i understand you can now buy a new replacement plug in unit with 2 fobs from the dealers for around £100.

    It's getting done at moment £60,was gonna give it a go myself after watching your video,but i tend to end up a bit like Frank Spencer,dont make any difference on insurance premium either.

    Hi mark. Your l.e.d wires numbered as 1 and 2. I dont suppose you know what connections on the alarm plug. I as this as my meta alarm never had the l.e.d wired in. It just used the factory dash l.e.d and now im trying to code a remote using the sequence I dont think the led flashes at the same rate to work correctly

    Eeerrrmmmm Let me just think about that for a minute.....NO! I am with you on feeling like taking a hammer to it. Great feeling when you dont have to cross your fingers and hope it will wake up from sleep mode, or go somewhere and hope you can start it again to get back.

    Hi guys. I would like to make a very important comment to all you guys with META alarms. I have a 2003 R1 with a META alarm.
    Heres the deal: Mine stopped responding to the key fob. Turns out the battery in the unit was failing. The way to fix it is this:
    First bridge the two wires in the white plug ( this is the starter unit). Next bridge wires 2 and 4, counting from the right, and use the LOWER sockets, not the upper ones. Use stiff wire so it doesnt come out. Put in your ignition key and give it a try. BINGO. No more META alarm happy days, I can throw this piece of junk in the garbage with the key fobs too. =)

    • @m2mark1
      @m2mark1  7 лет назад

      Nice one. People had been asking if you could bridge the wires but as I didn`t keep a note of what wires went where after removing it so I couldn`t tell them.

    • @stefankrykant7444

      It took 5 minutes of trial and error, I already knew roughly which ones from internet forums and the wiring diagram.
