Thanks so much for making this video, I appreciate the detail that you made in making it, releasing those springs blind would have been a complete nightmare, however with the close camera work I have been able to remove the steering wheel off my Passat in around 20 minutes! You are a legend!!!!

I have done it in my Mk7 for giving it an Alcantara trim. Was easy to do and was done in 5 minutes. The springs are pretty easy to loosen
For safety you should have removed the battery and allowed the car to settle for 2 minutes. Having the battery connected could have caused the accidental trigger of the air bag.

Vieš mi prosím ťa poradiť načo je ten modrý káblik okrem čierneho a zeleného v žltom spínacom konektore. V niektorých airbagoch nie je. Chcem meniť volant v sedmičkovom golfe r.v.2016 - 1,2 tsi . Chcem tam dať volant z gti. Má aj radenie na volante. Dúfam že to nebude vadiť. Oba sú multifunkčné.

Why don't u deactivate the battery first? Does it make a difference?
And this is why I just ordered a steering lock. Old fashioned, but Volkswagen parts were easy to place, and thus easy to remove.

@@rickyschodl7763 I have keyless entry and it automatically unlocks my steering wheel. I don't trust that whole keyless thing. It's a nice comfort, but it's easy to hack.
I gave up trying to get my wheel off because of those springs...second (or A) camera just might do it.

There is no need to. It has a low pressure EGR placed behind the particulate filter. Golf 6 and all the older models got a high pressure EGR that collected all the soot

Hello! please tell me the procedure for replacing the buttons on the steering wheel. I have a broken button for switching media tracks and the same narrow button for switching cruise control. How can I change them? need to remove the airbag? Does it change with the module or can only two hemp be changed? Saw buttons are sold individually by aliexpress

I Have a MK7 with dsg gearbox without gear pads and steering wheel controls. Do you know if I can buy a steering wheel with all that features and install it in my vehicle?

What happens if you don't disconnect the battery? The airbag might go off? Also, if you do disconnect the battery, how would you move the steering wheel?

@@alban9465 Where did I say it is because of the lock? You have a car of about 1.3 tons with pretty wide tires (which is standard by now) and a steering wheel, that is rather small. It is very hard to turn the wheel without the electric support. But of course you didn't think of that. So shut up and think before you talk.

is this same steering wheel on a Passat B8 (2/2016)? I have a some problem with "noise" from steering wheel, sometimes its take a resonate sounds from steering wheel. like a something rests metal on metal or maybe plastic on metal. I dont know. but especialy it hear when I drive on a low torque/ speed.... And its most hear direct under the plastic cover with VW logo...
Mine is the exact same, looks likely to be something loose at the rear of the airbag. I haven't seen a video for the current B8 Passat anywhere. I want to get this done as it is so annoying !!

@@willemvangils2471 It was an airbag spring. As I bought my car used from a company I have 3 years of warranty, they checked that and verified it could affect airbag correct functioning, so they are replacing the airbag under warranty
But they said that a specialized workshop could repair it, but I don't have any idea what the repair cost would be
