    I bought these books when they released in the 80s (I was a teenager when the first book released) and pretty much grew up with the series buying each book the week or so when it released. I did stop reading them around the Paths of darkness series though as I do not read like I used to. It always dissapointed me that the folks at D&D later misrepresented his swords in pictures as they are not Scimitars. Yes at the VERY end of the blade there is a slight curve but these swords are not true scimitars. Of course if you go and buy a representation of his swords, to for instance hang on your wall, you will not find true scimitars just these blades which more resembles sabers. True, these are not the blades he brought up from Menzo as those were destroyed by the light. Salvatore always described these two new swords as Scimitars. In my head and from my memory, especially in the Dark Elf triliogy, his swords were written as curved. The original covers of Streams of Silver and Halflings gem his sword more closely resemble true Scimitars. Anyway mini rant over. Awesome video man I enjoyed remembering some of the lore from my favorite books as a kid.

    Twinkle was damaged, but was repaired by Cattie-Brie in the forge of Gauntlegrym by merging it with the drow sword known as Vidrinath, which was a blade wielded by Tiago Baenre and far superior to Twinkle. After the treatment of the Great Forge, it became a new weapon all together, but Drizzt seems to refer to it as Vidrinath now.

An actual Scimitar has the back curved as well. Even in the books they describe the blades as curved. Not like a cutlass from a pirate, but definately has a curve in the back and the blade. There are several novels in which it even describes the wounds done by the blades, which aids in the description.....

    I've read all the books. Definitely worth your time.
    Drittzt definitely evolved as a character. He went from blatant Mary Sue Super Amazing All Rolls Are A Nat 20!!! fanwank character to an actual person in a story.
    It took a while but Salvator got there.

    I don't think he is using twinkle anymore.

      Yeah he is. It’s gone through an evolution but he is still using it all the way up to the latest book, Lolth’s Warrior.

    What do you think their 5e stats would look like?

    • @TheDrowHistorian
      @TheDrowHistorian  2 месяца назад +2

      They would both need to be homebrewed to some extent.
      Icingdeath would probably like a +3 Frostbrand mixed with Armor of Resistance (Fire)
      And in this iteration of Twinkle, it would likely be a +3 Weapon of Warning with a bonus +1 to AC and maybe have a once per day light cantrip.
      I've never made or used these in D&D, but this is my best guess.

      @avrilfan0521 2 месяца назад

      Well according to Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance
      Icingdeath = +3 Frost Burst Scimitar
      Twinkle = +5 Deffending Scimitar
