We tag along trackside with Spoon USA as they tackle 25 Hours of Thunderhill Raceway in Northern California!
For 2023, Spoon Type-One brought out the all-new FL5 Civic Type R & put it to the ultimate test. The team boasts a star-studded list of race drivers, including the returning Dai Yoshihara, Tarzan Yamada & none other than the Drift King himself: Keiichi Tsuchiya🏎️💨
It’s a rollercoaster of events as Mr. Tatsuru Ichishima & the Spoon team tackle hurdles day & night, overcoming challenges while pushing for the finish line. Definitely a fair share of mishaps but as anyone in motorsport would know, it’s all part of the game.
Major shouts outs to all the folks at Spoon Sports USA for their hard work, as well as NASA of Northern California for hosting such a fantastic event! Still in disbelief that we were there to witness it all, there really is never a dull moment in racing🏁🏁

Yeah it was definitely an event to see, they race there every year though. Hopefully they bring back that same driver line up but we’ll see🙏

it pleases me far more than it should that Thunderhill has a kei truck in their fleet xD
shame there isn't more attention on the 25hr of Thunderhill, it deserves it. hope their marketing campaign works out!
The Kei trucks were a pleasant surprise! I saw a older staff member leaning on one and then I told him those were called Kei trucks, he had no idea hahah! He just kept saying “yeah these are funny looking things aren’t they?”😂😂

That's really cool! Been a couple years I am looking for those blue lug nuts that stays on the wheels like the one we see here on the spoon fl5. Anyone can give me the brand or name ?
I’m not sure what they are called, I didn’t even see any on their website but they had a whole bag of them. Maybe there’s a Motorsports supplier that makes them, I’d be curious too.
So, it would be nice to know what we’re all the standings? And what place did that white FL5 score? Were they ahead of spoon?

I don’t see anything posted yet but the white FK8 from Honda Racing was ahead, I think it won actually.

What was the cause of the tire damage? Any issues from suspension?
Not sure if it’s issues from the suspension or just from being driven to the extreme. With DK behind the wheel, I would bet that the tires take a beating lol
Spoon had a crash or something? What was the black tape at the front bumper for?
Might have been a little contact somewhere but wasn’t anything major. Such is racing though💪

Why was there full blown race cars and some other low end cars ?
There were a few different classes of cars running the same course for that event

That’s the event announcer, I think he just broke the record for longest duration of announcing. He was up there for the ENTIRE 25 hours and then some🤯

Some critics over fl5 than fk8 though
FL5 is still the new kid in town, it’ll have to put in some work but should be interesting to see what gets developed for it👍
