We’ve finally arrived! Zack Snyder’s Justice League has premiered on HBO max and it’s time to argue who would win between the two genocidal maniacs from Marvel and DC. In this video, I will be detailing the strength, speed, and durability of each character and doing my best to determine who would win in a fight if these two goliaths ever battled. While this should be really obvious, it’s always good to remind everyone that we’re talking about the MOVIE versions of these characters, not the comic book versions. So, this means material from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Zack Snyder’s Live Action DC Universe. For DC, I will only be considering feats from Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman, and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Additionally, I will not be considering the respective armies that these characters command - this is a Mano e Mano, 1v1, no holds barred steel cage money match for the comic book movie world title.

5000 years ago was when Diana was born, when the War of the Gods happened and Ares killed all gods. That fight against Darkseid happened 10.000 years ago.

Yeah some people are saying his first time coming to earth he hadnt yet aquired his omega affect. Reason being is because everyone knows Darkseid loves using them and spamming them and talking about them. Not once did he use them and this was before he ascended to the throne (quoted by steppen wolf). So that being said we see cyborgs future where we immediately see him use his omega beams. That means during that time leap he must have aquired the omega affect at some point during his conquests around the universe. Maybe thats how he came to power and ascended the throne in the end? Who knows, but its really hard to compare an underdeveloped character with feats from thousands of years before his current present self. If anyone knows darkseid in the comics is beyond cosmic level. He is like a 5th dimensional character that uses essentially avatars of himself in our dimension. He has matter manipulation, magic, intelectual genius, etc. This is all in the comics. Darkseid hasn’t yet been developed in these movies, so we dont really know how much of his comic counterparts abilities transfer over to the movies. I think this isnt a really good idea to compare a well developed movie character with a newly introduced movie character whose only feats come from when he was very young before his prime. Darkseids “ruler of apocalypse” version gets less screen time than lois lane in this movie.
@@Daniel-lx3nh Well, in the comics, Uxas more or less BECOMES Darkseid with the Omega effect (and also consuming many of the Old Gods). Another difference not touched on in the DCEU yet gets into Darkseid's true, multi-dimensional form - Darkseid is beyond what any one three-dimensional universe can contain in his full manifestation in the comics.
Darkseid simply wipes the floor with Thanos even with the Infinity Gauntlet if both bring their full might to bear, unless DCEU Darkseid is more conventional a foe. But it's hard to guess yet where DCEU is going, as WB doesn't even seem to have a handle on that.

The thing I'm surprised you didn't use is how Darkseid, simply applying a little pressure on to Steppenwolf's head, manages to snap the other horn off. Superman's heat vision was what basically sawed the other horn off. With minimal effort, Darkseid can break the bones of a being like Steppenwolf.

He could’ve put 20% of his power into the blast that he was going to hit Darkseid with and 100% of his power into the lightning blast that DELINKED the mother boxes. Darkseid tanked two arrows fired by Artemis too, right in the chest, before taking Zeus lightning and Ares' axe. In the previous scene, Artemis destroyed a ship with a single arrow. Damn impressive. Also, Superman and Cyborg needed the energy boost from Flash running at lightspeed to undo the Unity, and Cyborg was hacking it to supposedly make things easier. Zeus did it all by himself. I think it would be even worse for Thanos, to be honest.

But to give Cyborg the energy boost he was running in circles, at lightspeed, waiting for the right timing. Which didn't happen, since he somehow got shot while running at lightspeed by a parademon... Talk about a lucky shot. But anyway, I could be wrong.

@@andresledesma8628 The thing is: Omega beams track their intended target. It isn't Kryptonian heat vision, or any other straightforward energy blast. It tracks its targets to death. Thanos might be able to dodge the beams a few times, but eventually he'll get hit and overwhelmed by them.

Dark side can’t actually be killed. True form Darkseid is truly immortal and never actually gets involved in the conflicts himself. He literally exists in every universe and controls all of them from outside reality.

Reminder that just because one character is more powerful, it does not mean that the less powerful character is worse.
Edit: I think my comment is being misconstrued. I'm also not saying that the weaker character is better. The DCEU needs Darkseid because someone needs to be able to go toe to toe with Superman without kryptonite. It would be unrealistic to have anything else. MCU doesn't have that because it would not be a realistic power-jump for the heroes, and would seem like writer cop-out.
My point is that no matter what power scaling level a character/series is at, you can find enjoyment in them.
But also part of that enjoyment is in analyzing feats and predicting "what if" battles between disparate characters.

Actually gonna say the “everyone is literally an immortal god until the plot demands otherwise” take on writing... everything DC is very much worse.
Like actually what do any of the justice league characters aside from superman contribute to fighting big bads? Everyone in that universe is scaled up to super-lightspeed destruction that in order to have any tension or stakes every enemy is just superman but stronker until not stronker (with krypton but again if you need a maguffin way out).
The thing is, Thanos needed the Infinity Stones to become a god. But Darkseid already is one...
Thor is also a god - god of thunder and Thanos could beat him up even without the infinity stones. And Thanos was able to withstand attacks from Odin who in Marvel universe is the most powerful God, even more powerful than Zeus.

It's good to note that Darkseid in the Darkseid war is much younger being Uxas who is MUCH weaker than when he's grown up.

In the words of Stan Lee himself: the winner is whoever the writer wants it to be! We of course can look at all of these feats and say what we think but at the end of the day it’s the creators who decide the victor. If they want Spider-man to find a way to defeat Thanos they can do that. If they want Thor to beat Darkseid they will buff him up to the Old King/Thorforce Rune King Thor and have him win. It is what it is. Personally, my favourite heroes and antagonists are those written well.

Remember at the end of ZSJL, he is coming to earth with a big armada, so it doesn't take place that much into the future, the Knightmare future is probably many, many years after the invasion because it seems that Batman's team has been hiding from Darkseid for a long time, they are wearing worn outfits and they changed a lot. Slade's mohawk and Joker's new look must have taken a long time.

darkseid stronger in comics and movie. took multiple gods to stop him before he got the omega force. took multiple heroes working together to separate the motherboxes. only took Zeus by himself to do the same. shows the level of power of the gods he was fighting. comic wise infinite frontier showed what his true form can do.

For me uxas' feats was better, he did all that when he's not at his peak yet. It took three gods to beat him so it's not considered a senseless lost. Whilst prime thanos survived a prime thor's attacks and survived. Not fair.

The fact that Thanos (literally just an alien person) is being compared to Darseid (a god of darkness and unstoppable power) at all is a sign of just how incredible Thanos is.

I'm not 100% sure on what the actual case is but it's true that Darkseid is multidimensional but the avatar thing was only specific to 1 or a few stories and that those avatars were sort of as powerful as true Darkseid. So apart from those stories whenever we encounter Darkseid in the comics, it's true Darkseid.
This reminds me of the episodes of deathbattle where the answer becomes obvious very early in the analysis
I have always been a fan of dc and marvel, not did I care about the publishers but the comics itself, I really love to see a cross over between dc and marvel characters so the villains aswell

You missed the part where we saw Darkesid/Uxas tank a hit from a green lantern beam in the flashback, and 2 arrows from an "Old God" which as seen by how it destroyed a ship later in the flashback is no small deal.
How can Steppenwolf be a planet buster level if WonderWoman is nowhere near that, but she can decapitate him?
Because she hit his flesh instead of his armour, The Sword of Athena is magical in nature, probably also the reason Ares’s axe was able to penetrate Uxas (Darksied) so easily.
Steppenwolf nor Superman nor Darkseid nor Doomsday are planet busters.

Thanos had 4 movies to flesh out his motive and reasoning for his villainy darkeseid has had 1. You can’t compare them based off of the films. But based off canon it’d be Darkseid
Thanos only had one movie to flesh out his motives though. Maybe 2 if you include endgame as a separate movie. All he did was sit on a chair and watch until he decided to do it himself.

Jim Starlin actually took Thanos' inspiration from Jack Kirby's Darkseid and I can say this is the most successful inspiration of a character ever taken.
Both are great characters created by Comic book legends.

My issue with the first stat about the movie Steppenwolf is that isn't a case of ''the director said so'' which doesn't support the feats the characters display in the movie. Superman cuts through Steppenwolf's horn, which would suggest he's putting out more energy than it's required to burst a planet/moon which would probably melt everything around them.
Technically Thanks can’t kill Darkseid with the snap, because that’s not actually Darkseid. Darkseid’s true form is in fourth world, and the Darkseid you see are avatars.

With the time stone, Thanos can slow down time or speed it up or even travel to the past and kill a baby Darkseid. Not to mention with the reality stone he can simply turn his opponents into a rubbery goo. And with the mind Stone he can control anybody and make them do what he wants. This is the reason in Avengers he is shown to get the mind stone near the very end, cause if he had won it in the beginning itself, then there would be no plot as he could simply control the anybody's mind and make them give up the other stones.
Just the fact of seeing these two badasses on a live action film is phenomenal.

Darkseid is more like Dormamu than like Thanos. Dormamu conquers worlds and brings them into the Dark Dimension, similar to what Darkseid does.

Both villains are powerful. Both villains have a goal. Both villains are respected in their own right. Both villains want to dominate the universe. One villain succeeded thus far which is Thanos as he accomplished his mission and when it was all over he rested. We have yet to see what darkseid can accomplish and I’m sure we won’t be disappointed when we do. I love MARVEL and DC. I respect both comic book giants. Both have awesome heroes and villains.
