I've done a covering similar with tape before. Problem is that over time, as your body weight forces anything on a slope downward, the tape will migrate away from its original spot and you end up with a gummy residue collecting in certain areas. It is great for a bit, then it slowly gets harder and harder to tolerate and heat will exacerbate the issue. Just an fyi... all looks amazing!
Bro, fucking genius! Even if it's not an original idea, I love it. I am building a GT MKIV RCR replica, and I totally need to modify these stock seats. I am also a landscaper that using foam for everything, sidewalk support, rockwall gaps. Can't believe I didn't think of this! Many blessings mate!!!!
Love the seat. You can reupholster for a couple quid any time it strikes your fancy 😂. I’m curious to know how long it will hold up, as some foams are much more elastic and resilient than others.

Very cool project. Love your energy and attention to detail. I need to make seats for my '70 C10 pickup and I love the iconic style of the '60s GT40 with the parachute cloth and brass grommets. Your video demonstrates a clear path forward with the smart design of your seat pan and foam. Did you use pop rivets or aircraft rivets? Can you share the drawings for your seat pan? Thanks in advance.
As usual what a lovely outcome. My only concern is that in a rear end collision it looks like the seat belt fastener will impale you in the back of the head. Any thought for some kind of protective pad?

Only time will tell. But like you say for a few pound and a couple hours I can change up the covering easily

I wish I'd added additional buckle eyelets when building the car. I may look into come form of pad though...
