I think the 60mm is the shining star in this set. It has a really nice blend of image quality and anamorphic characteristics. The 100 looks nice but loses a bit of that anamorphic feel I think. The 40 seems a bit like a drop in quality. That barrel distortion is pretty intense
The close focus is a game changer for sure. I do like the Kowas better, but for the price the xelmus can’t be beat. If I got a set, I probably just wouldn’t get the 40mm, haha. I’d love to see what you’ve shot with the Kowas and your c500 Mkii.
Hi found your channel by chance and it's a complete gem! I am making the hop over to arri from red as well. Can you make a video regarding arri workflows? Thanks!
Hello! Thanks for your kind words. It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything, maybe something about Arri workflow would be a good idea. Although, unless your shooting arriraw, the workflow is pretty straightforward cause it’s just prores.
Man that 40mm is slightly disappointing... but I’d really love to see how their lens against a much cheaper options provided by A Chinese company, Vazen anamorphic lenses (their full frame ones). Pretty good to see if many “attainable” options for anamorphic shooters now for sure!
Agreed. To be fair however, I’ve recently been corrected that the 40mm actually isn’t listed as Full Frame compatible. I really thought it was, but it even says so on their website. Given that, the vignetting and distortion is totally reasonable. Next time I shoot with these lenses maybe I’ll drop the LF into super 35 mode if I want to use the 40mm, haha.
@@furymotionpictureco.7952 Dont worry, I also had the impression that all of their line up covers Full Frame. So when they announced the 40mm, it caught my attention for coming up with some really really 'affordable' to anything of its range. I suppose the 50mm is plentiful wide for FF that's for sure. I guess this explains the weird blurry edge/distortion at the edge for the 40mm since it looks good for s35 mode. But somewhat it doesn't justify the price being the same with the FF lenses. We'll see more reels out there soon! :D Nice work btw!
Only *discovered* these lenses a couple days ago. Love their look. Love the shots from your film too.. good work .. 👍🏿
Please upload in 4k (or upscale to 4k) - RUclips is killing your beautiful videos with their horrible 1080 compression!

Yeah, I think you might be right. I had a similar thought when I was putting the B roll together.
I love the Kowa’s on full frame. I use them with my c500 Mark ii. These look like a nice option as well and that close focus seems really nice too

Great video man!

If you had to pick 4 lenses for two cameras, which ones would you go for?
Isn't the Alexa LF sensor slightly bigger than Full Frame (in the 24x36 sense of the term) ?
Love those
why he doesn shown the front element of the lens. This is Gimmik no and anamptfic lens
The focus and iris stops are noisy as hell.
The 40mm T2.8 vignetting is bad.
And like other sources, the bokeh is too sharp.
The bokeh is not soft like cooke and v lite.
Yup
your volume level is very low :D please raise it up next video.
