    Thank you for this amazing video.
    Question:
    When you changed the dimensions in meshmixer with size then why did you change the dimensions again with scale after..Changing dimension once and then you should start printing?
    Should not that work?

    Nice video.
    Do you do anything special when shrinking a large stl or obj, to make sure connections and/or walls don’t just disappear from being too thin?

      Not during the scaling part, those setting can be adjusted in cura.

    When you were prepping the chest piece and you sliced off one arm, couldn't you have just turned the model 45 degrees putting the arms in opposite corners and tried to fit it that way without cutting it? Just wondering. Thanks.

    • @SANTUBE
      @SANTUBE  4 года назад

      I wanted the arm to be its own piece but you are right I could have done it that way.

      @@SANTUBE Thanks for the response. I was really asking to get the tech info so I would know if it were possible to do that. I'm seriously considering getting a printer. I recently discovered HEROFORGE.COM and designed and ordered my first mini. It arrived last night and although I maxed out its size for the PREMIUM PLASTIC material, it was still smaller than I'd hoped. I was expecting her to be 3" at the top of the head, but she was under 2". If I got a printer, I could purchase the designs instead cheaply, then print them myself. So thank you not only for the response, but also for the video which let me know that you can increase the size of printed products.

    If our model is already in pieces, how do we scale each piece correctly? Thank you in advance!

    Not an expert on this:- some bigger parts may be positioned and fitted diagonally on the bed

    • @SANTUBE
      @SANTUBE  5 лет назад +2

      That is true but again you don't want to cut a model to the full size of your printer. I have done that in the past.

      @@SANTUBE im new to 3d printing, and im currently trying to learn meshmixer and cura. I have a stl model that I would like to scale up and divide it into sections like you did in this video. Do you have a website or service that can do this for me, until I master these software's?

  • @chrisfc923
    @chrisfc923 4 года назад +2

    awesome video. question though. when i imported the cut stl files to cura the scale was the same as the changed dimensions i did on meshmixer. I'm confused as to why cura would scale it down when you import it from meshmixer?

    If I purchase and
    download a STL File of 32mm
    (which is 1.26 inches)
    can I upscale that
    to a Larger Size of 10 inches?
    Or does it stay the same size when purchased ?

      It should, but you have to turn it into g-code.

    How heavy is your model? I'm thinking about creating a 10 ft+ model using the process you have shown but do you think at that height it would easily snap or break outside in windy conditions?

    Im printing a madcat which is in several pieces. Its not 1 solid model. I want to enlarge it from 100 to 500 %. How do I use uniform scaling for that? Thanks

    • @SANTUBE
      @SANTUBE  3 года назад

      sorry for late reply. Make sure uniform scaling is on and what ever your x or y or z is times it by 5 and all the other numbers should change as well.
