I was thinking how you would refine the inside of the ring. Sanding the inside of the ring using the sand paper taped around the neck of the vase is ingenious!
Another absolutely beautiful piece and welcome video of the artist’s insanely meticulous technique! I love to watch! I have shared his RUclips site to all my friends as well as the video and photos of the amazing pencil vase I GAVE MYSELF FOR MY BIRTHDAY!
Hi Oliver, you never cease to amaze me. I have never seen this done by a turner before. I think you’re amazing, the best woodworking turner on RUclips. Xxx
I watch other wood workers on RUclips that talk during their videos, which I like...sometimes. so I like that your videos is you woodworking without talking because I turn the volume down all the way to watch your videos because watching u wood work is really relaxing and soothing to me and helps me drift off to sleep. I have a really hard time falling asleep but your videos are so relaxing and you look so zen and calm and happy when you work. your pieces are always amazing and you're so talented
So, someone picked up some wood log in a forest; it was of course cylindrical. Someone else put a lot of efforts to give it a square section. ... And that's what Olivier used as a starting point to generate a cylindrical shape. Logical.
Many trees in the forest aren't truly cylindrical or easy to transport or handle in their natural forms. Milled wood is much more convenient and consistent, not to mention, easier to store.
Wonderful. I just purchased one of these at a local thrift store for 75 cents! I had no idea what it was ( the glass for the vase wasn’t inside) I LOVE it!!!
Small magnets inserted within the ring, and ring magnets within the neck of the vase, would levitate the ring, either in a stable, or a more flexible fashion, depending on strength and placement.
You are a phenomenal talent!!!! Everything you make is so detailed and executed to perfection! Wow! Another awesome video and prestigious creation! 👍🏻♥️👏🏻
Another awesome video Olivier! I'm always captivated watching you in your precise work. And thank you for no music! If I want music, I watch music RUclips video. Stay safe, Vickie
Please Help and Advise. The tool you used to cut the ring was that a store bought tool,if so, “where did you get it. OR did you make it, please show how and the materials used. PS your skill is amazing.
This is fantastique ! You are so good at woodturning ! Question : what is this gouge that you are using to shape the ring? is it a gouge that you modified yourself ? JL
Should have stained the ring with a darker stain - then it would have looked as if it was made from a different wood, and people would wonder how you got it on there.
Sanding the inside of a captive ring has always been a pain in the ass. Your solution is so ridiculously simple it's absolutely brilliant! Thanks.
I've never even used a wood lathe but when I saw that I just blurted out "smart ass"

This project brings back memories of my Grandpa teaching to to turn wood and he also taught me how to do a captive ring
Mazal tov
you had way more faith in that small bit of blue painters tape than I have had in anything my entire life.
la chaine la plus hypnotisante !
Oliver,
I thoroughly enjoy your technique, turning tips I pick up, and mostly I admire your incredible artistry!
That was brilliant! Sandpaper taped to the primary vase, so simple but so brilliant. Very well done, thanks for posting! Take care, stay healthy!
Imagine making the mouth of the vase small at the final trimming so the ring can just slide out
No That can Not out side
Then he’d have to change the title to a fugitive ring

İzlerken çok mutlu oluyorum. Sanki terapi gibi.🥰🇹🇷👍
Your beautiful vase is made even more glamorous by the juxtaposition of the terrible grout job whoever built your basement did. Perfect backdrop. xD

Who thinks it would have been better to do the ring reveal later on
Гениально!

Imagine the ring breaking during you final polish pass.
Talk like that gets you sent to the principal’s office! 🤭 but, Murphy is alive and well....
Виртуоз! 👍

Ciao Olivier un lavoro molto bello e ben fatto. Vorrei sapere di che misura è quella sgorbia con cui hai creato l'anello. Grazie e buon tempo
