Personally I believe people are afraid of a tiny turbocharged 1.3 no matter how nice everything else is including the price. Considering others offering NA 2.0s that make better HP and 30 MPGs. Almost Chevrolet. Almost.
GM is well known to have problems with the “Turbo” portion of the engine before reaching 100K miles. They are making these vehicles with smaller engines getting less horsepower. In my opinion they are moving in the wrong direction. A majority of buyers I would bet want more horsepower and could care less about better gas milage. I love the new design but won't ever buy a vehicle with less than a 4 cylinder
@ronjohnson3129 yep they are pushing for better fuel economy...that and going electric. I've had 4 cylinder vehicles for quite a while getting close to 200 HP and getting pretty decent fuel economy. 3 cylinders just aren't for me...for the one's that like them then more power to them
Where do you think the Trailblazer fits into all of this? I feel like the line between the Trax and Trailblazer has kinda been blurred since both could qualify as a subcompact SUV now. How do you discern one from the other?
Honestly I think the Trailblazer is just better in general. The only thing the Trax has over the Trailblazer is price and is a tad bigger. Otherwise the Trailblazer has an optional bigger engine and more horsepower and optional AWD plus better interior.
Somebody forgot to add more cylinders and centiliters, oh well, anyway, next year this engine probably goes to Silverado with twin turbo's and two compressors😂
This vehicle is such a departure from the previous Trax because it's known as the Chevrolet Seeker in other markets. Chevy simply slapped the Trax nameplate on this for the north American market.
That's the most disappointed _On-Throttle_ face I've seen in a while at 14:13 162 torque is okay for getting a vehicle that size with one driver up to speed but load it up with 3 passengers and some gear for a camping trip (if you dare to take a non-AWD vehicle camping) and you will notice the 137 horsepower feels more like 99 HP. C'mon Chevy, just give us one more cylinder and an AWD option.
Went to a dealer and did a road test. Liked it a lot but the engine in my 2012 Rio still can beat that of the Trax. My old baby has a 138 HP -123 torque and it's far from lazy. Also tried the Kicks and surprisingly the small 4 cyl 122 HP is more peppy than thre Trax's engine. Scratching my head!!!
Luv viewing your reviews. In this review however, it appears you road tested a diff Trax trim (in Neon Yellow) than the dark color (grey or black) LT Trax you were profiling??
But not quality or reliability, if you actually did research you would know these are in the shop more than road , especially for the transmission and turbos , u must enjoy low qualityness 😂
@telliesmith9825 knowing the track record of Chevy's 3 cylinders turbo it'll be needing a turbo before 100k and if u did research on the previous year they're know for transmission failure, u don't really think chevy makes quality anymore ? 🤣
I don't know about these turbo charged cars. I have a 22 Trax with the newer 1.4 turbo engine with 155 hp and 170 torque. It's a slug. How do I know this new engine isn't going to be a slug?
I'm the type of driver that keeps his new vehicles up to 15- 20 years, and I like to put about 250k - 300k miles on it before trading it in. My current GM product I purchased new. It is 15 years old and 230k miles. I've changed the oil every 3500 and flush the tranny every 50k, which both are still in good shape, but I've replaced the rest of the car. My friends with Hondas and Toyotas with similar age and miles haven't had to replace a 1/3 of what I've replaced. My point is it's a smart buy, now. 😁
you know i wasnt sold on it till the fried chicken and rootbeer space, the twinky storage, the popstart storage, and the calzone storage PS get this man some food i think he might be hungry if his units of measurement are food :)
I like this car enough to basically watch you re-review it again, but your references to Pop Tarts and such make it all good. I think GM has made one mistake this time which is not launching a Buick 'clone' of this car, offering a much higher trim level like they did with the original Trax and the original Buick Encore. I know some believe the Envista is that but that car doesn't have this Chevy's feel of smart fun design.
Except there is a Buick clone. It's called the Envista, the front end looks like a Lamborghini Urus, and it is indeed offered in the high-end Avenir trim. Edit: Oops, didn't see your bit about the Envista. Honestly, styling is subjective, but that's as close to a Buick Trax as we're gonna get.
yep my girlfriend's engine went out in her Trailblazer. Thankfully it was still under warranty. We quickly traded it in. Will never go back to a 3 cylinder engine again
@Bowhunters I’ve heard they have airbag and drive train problems. Honestly if it has even slightly above average reliability I might have to seriously consider it as an option. Rav4, crv and the Camry have been my main 3 options but I’ve kinda dropped the rav4 off the list due to the wait time and the price mark ups being so ridiculous. So rn crv and the Camry have been the main options. Maybe this one could be an interesting 3rd option.

The Trailblazer is available with AWD and an optional larger engine among other things not available on the Trax.
Honestly I think the Trailblazer is just better in general. The only thing the Trax has over the Trailblazer is price and is a tad bigger. Otherwise the Trailblazer has an optional bigger engine and more horsepower and optional AWD plus better interior.
Looks amazing. But how does it handle in snow and is it noisy when driving?
Somebody forgot to add more cylinders and centiliters, oh well, anyway, next year this engine probably goes to Silverado with twin turbo's and two compressors😂
Great SUV for the price but those taillights could have been a better design with LED’s!
Put a Malibu 1.5T engine into this car will be great
Or just put a big V8 twin turbo this car would fly
@@bigdavedayday1581 🙄
The powertrain and no awd is such a bummer to me.
It's to satisfy the car rental companies in warmer climates.
You gotta give that antenna a 'double zonk'! lol
i Triple that motion!.... (the dealer can exchange it for us)
I have this car and I LOVE IT
Let's be honest even the highest trim starts under 25K. Since that is the case nothing on this vehicle should be zonked...
We signed paper work yesterday we are buying a chevrolet trax lt is meltatic blue just waiting for it to arrive at the dealership
Joe i really enjoy all of your video this is Mike From Sunny California. Also Teddy Ruxpin's friend name is Grubby
This vehicle is such a departure from the previous Trax because it's known as the Chevrolet Seeker in other markets. Chevy simply slapped the Trax nameplate on this for the north American market.
and........
That's the most disappointed _On-Throttle_ face I've seen in a while at 14:13
162 torque is okay for getting a vehicle that size with one driver up to speed but load it up with 3 passengers and some gear for a camping trip (if you dare to take a non-AWD vehicle camping) and you will notice the 137 horsepower feels more like 99 HP.
C'mon Chevy, just give us one more cylinder and an AWD option.
Long time ago I was driving Chevy Corsica 3.1L V6, very peppy because oversized engine compared to size of the car.
@@racineurr.8924 yea cause it's nothing but low quality that won't even make it to 100k , junkass Daewood lol
Hi Joe! I missed u! Ur the best!
Love the beefy sidewalls.
Luv viewing your reviews. In this review however, it appears you road tested a diff Trax trim (in Neon Yellow) than the dark color (grey or black) LT Trax you were profiling??
It’s the same vehicle just a different color
Oh. Ok. Thx for the quick reply.
Again, really enjoy watching your car reviews. Take care! 😊
I'm pretty sure he test drove a yellow Activ trim. Same specs though performance wise
For the money it's not to bad 😊
.....not TOO bad.
I love this SUV
You can't go wrong with it stylish affordable got the tech and from the reviews I have seen got a little handling baked into it 👍🏽👍🏽
But not quality or reliability, if you actually did research you would know these are in the shop more than road , especially for the transmission and turbos , u must enjoy low qualityness 😂
@@cormaro13 it just getting to lots wth you talking about 🤦
@telliesmith9825 knowing the track record of Chevy's 3 cylinders turbo it'll be needing a turbo before 100k and if u did research on the previous year they're know for transmission failure, u don't really think chevy makes quality anymore ? 🤣
I think is good enough for the money!!
I don't know about these turbo charged cars. I have a 22 Trax with the newer 1.4 turbo engine with 155 hp and 170 torque. It's a slug. How do I know this new engine isn't going to be a slug?
The 1.2 liter new turbo engine.
It went down .1 so still a slug 😂
Did this trim have remote start? sorry if i missed that part
1RS for 23k is the best choice for a best look or 2RS🤩😍looking forward on getting used even lower then 20k or even salvage for 10k or less
Can buy it cheap all day doesn't change the low quality build quality 😂
@@cormaro13Looks pretty dang good for the price. What else are you buying for 22-25k lol ?
@@calebniederhofer6529 a Mazda , something actually worth the price and proven to last over 100k mileage and you get more features for price
I like this but I hope interest rates go down. I hate 7%
Thanks for sharing that insight.
I have a 2018 Trax I love it
Good job Chevy
you know i wasnt sold on it till the fried chicken and rootbeer space, the twinky storage, the popstart storage, and the calzone storage
PS get this man some food i think he might be hungry if his units of measurement are food :)
Ended up putting a deposit on one after this video. Should be here late July
You must enjoy low qualityness 😂
Looks great
I like this car enough to basically watch you re-review it again, but your references to Pop Tarts and such make it all good.
How do you say their mistake was not offering a Buick clone right before mentioning this vehicle’s Buick “clone” by name? Are you on drugs?
@@G-Rated Read my full comment. You'll have to pull your head out of your ass to pull that off I'm afraid.
Not bad looking for an SUV, but might want to bring some ores to row to help propel that slow box! Ouch!
Yep, looks good but I would be scared of a 3 cylinder long term
yep my girlfriend's engine went out in her Trailblazer. Thankfully it was still under warranty. We quickly traded it in. Will never go back to a 3 cylinder engine again
Anyone have any info on the reliability of this suv? (Of previous years I mean) seems like I should’ve heard more about this suv given the price.
You can't have this information on a NEW product, going off of the previous generation doesn't help.
@@lilred1107 I mean. If you know anything about cars you absolutely can. In fact it’s the smartest thing you can do. If a car/ truck brand has a history of being bad 9/10 the next year will be the same or similar.
@Trev 916 That's where you miss the masses, people largely are not looking at an overall picture for a brand, they are going off of personal experiences or hearsay.
Consumer Reports show above-average reliability for Chevrolet Trailblazer with the same engine, at least so far.
With the PSA derived 1.2:turbo wet belt engine, this Trax will end up costing owners much more
I'm trying to decide between this and the Kona, and I think this might pull me over simply because the price point, and I think I can do without AWD.
Anything is better than the previous Trax
consumers--"we want affordable cars."
chevy--"here's an affordable car."
consumers--"needs AWD and upgraded engine option. also, a panoramic sunroof would be nice."
chevy--"here's our new $36,000 Trax"
consumers--"why don't they make affordable cars?"
That describes every human pretty much lol.
@@yahir03c cool story bro.

At the end of the day you really cannot please everybody
This really isn't better than the previous model in so many ways Hard plastic everywhere no matter what trim, no $5 armrest in the back,
The Activ or RS trim being about $5-6k more than the base trim one would think that GM could come up with some soft plastic an armrest, a Bose system , AWD , a punchier engine- at least GM is still giving a real Trans. not that CVT CRAP
Yea a transmission that needs to be changed constantly 😂😂 go with mazda if u want a real transmission
Congrats on the 990k so far!
Worth about &15000
This one can go for as low as $17,995 newspaper ad sale price for the Trax LS by year 2026-2027.
This makes a lot of nonsense. 15000? You can’t buy a cool low for less than 25k. This is an exceptional price.
Hi what crossover is the better buy and better suv I like the size .Thanks
Nice video and info
Chevy went from killing it off to a killer redesign.
But not reliability, cause that left years and years ago 😂

Great review Thanks
Nice work
GM thought they did great but people are hating on the Trax even though it’s better (to me) price/looks wise
Wow your videos the best
You have one of the best vids on the market helped me get one ,the only mistake was the weight of vehicle 3100 pounds only thanks for everything
I can’t believe this is the base model
LS is base ! !
i have the chevy trax LT 2019 i am gonna upgrade once done paying off
Let's hope it's to a better brand , there so much better interior and reliable brands out there
We were in need of another car because we got a family of 6. We got an equinox less than 2 months ago. And the transmission is about to crap out. The dealer had to fix the ac and workers really didnt want it
Correction: 3292 lbs. not 4000. An extremely rational product. I knew it couldn't have originated from inside the USA; way too sensible. A GM Korea product. Should sell well. I think it is a better value than most of the competition.
