  • In 2019, we entered into an unknown territory of Madhesh Province in Nepal. 18 kms from Janakpur, Dhanushadham is a popular destination for the Dhanush Temple. We came across a community of Musahar population in Dhanushadham during our visit. Upon conducting a needs assessment, we decided to begin our intervention with the same community.
For 5 years, we worked with 115 women and adolescent girls from the Musahar communities of Dhanushadham municipality across 9 different localities. Basic and Advanced Level Training on Tailoring and Mithila Art was provided to a total of 5 batches of project participants willing to learn and earn for living. In the meantime, indigenous knowledge and skills of the community members was also explored as a result of which we were able to incorporate Embroidery and Crochet work.
In support of Danfe Works Enterprises Nepal, our sustainability partner, we were able to provide a marketplace for the skills and products showcased and produced by the community.
We proudly present to you a collaboration between Danfe Works and SAATH in connecting community-based skills to a marketplace that has no bounds.
The video was made possible by the support of ‪@ongdfnel7129‬ and we are grateful to ‪@stockphotographynepal‬ for the collaboration.
