Truly an under appreciated song 🎧
It may be unappreciated, but they Do Be Brothers.
This transition phase to the Michael McDonald R&B style was an amazing success for the Doobies. Amazing how seamlessly they could venture from rock to country/rock to R&B. The Doobies are one of rocks most talented and flexible bands and in this case , Pat Simmons demonstrate his prowess on that guitar solo near the end of the song. Wow. And they’re still at it with Tom J back, as good as ever!
love the DOOBIE BROTHERS ONE OF THE GREATEST BANDS OF ALLTIME.
Jeff "missle man, Skunk" Baxter looks bored to tears. One of my favorite Doobies. Patrick Simmons is WAY under appreciated. I think he was the driving force behind the band. Way to go guys!!
Ha! All True!😊
Tom Johnston maybe as the original lead singer was maybe one of the most unheralded soul singers of that generation. Agree though - loved ‘em all!!
Heard this song in concert last night for the 50 anniversary tour in Phoenix Az. It sounded on point! The Doobies were firing on all cylinders!
I'm jealous. Love me some Doobies
Heard it too, last night...Alpharetta (Atlanta) GA. Off the chain!! ❤
You can definitely hear the steely dan influence
Patrick Simmons. What a talent!
I always loved this song. The guitar and vocals are so damn cool.
Slightly different from the album version yet it seems to be a studio recording. Nice! Pat is a great guitarist. He could do both finger picking, rhythm playing and scorching, yet melodic lead work. Incredible!
Everyone in the band is a monster
🙏👍
Sounds like they use the bulk of the original studio recording including backup vocals and went with live lead vocals and lead guitar.
Yep, Kkind of a let down.... Nice to see them in their hey day tho
A great live performance by the Doobie brothers performing one of their most groovy and soulful hits. Pat simmons i thought always did a great job with the vocals on this song and also on the guitar. Also love Mike macdonald's vocals in the background towards the end of the song!!!
Patrick is so underrated. My favorite singer of the Doobies. This is my favorite guitar solo too from the band.
I couldn’t agree more! My favorite Doobie Brother for sure! ❤
Skunk Baxter
This album will be 40 years old in December. Timeless.
🙈do I laugh or cry?
This is why doobies are timeless.. good music always is timeless!!💗
TIMELESS
Those guitar solos make me want to get up and run around, love that sound!!!!
That’s great! The solos make me want to go on a three day camping trip.
🤣👍👍👍
Same Here
@@otisroseboro5613 hey thanks for the comment had to go back and listen.. just happen to have a guitar in my hands, so fun.
I love The Doobie Brothers!!! Thanks for the beautiful music. :-)
How about a little Tournee in Europe?
This song actually sounds more like old school doobies, mainly cause of the guitar riff.
What an amazing live version
🗣️🎵When I was so low
You were there to lift me up
Well, there's one thing that I know for sure
You're gonna win life's lovin' cup
Darlin', you're always there at my rescue
Dependin' on you
Darlin', you're always there by my side
You're always there by my side
Darlin', you're always there at my rescue
Dependin' on you
And when I get too high
You are there to cool me down
So fine, someone to turn to
Keepin' my feet on the ground
Dependin' on you
Darlin', you're always there at my rescue
Dependin' on you
Darlin', you're always there by my side
You're always there by my side
Darlin', you're always there at my rescue
I just keep dependin' on you
Someone to turn to
Keepin' my feet on the ground
So fine...
Darlin', you're always there at my rescue
Dependin' on you
Darlin', you're always there by my side
You're always there by my side.🎵
Keith looks pretty wasted here, I know from the Behind The Music they said he developed a major heroin habit in the late 70s, his eyes are barely open.
Jeff skunk Baxter nailed it
Beautiful hair
Love this song
Patrick Simmons was a big big key to the DB'S!
*is
At 2:38, that is a beautiful sight.
Brotherly love.
Such a good feel happy song.
So Skunk Baxter seems to be just sort of chilling in this video.
Yeah, the seated guitarist vibe never really did catch on!
Sulking/Skunking 😆🤣🤣.JK...gr8 guitarist
I always thought he played the second solo in that song but apparently he wasn't. Great song anyway and Pat Simmons is a very fine guitarist too.
For Fucks Sake This is the Tops, Really just jaw droppinly great. 👍👍😁👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
jeff skunk baxter just chillin in a chair.he's ,,now some aerospace engineer or something....
Wow! & I always thought Baxter did these solos!👆👍🙏. Gr8 Pat🤗
So did I
Solid Doobie Brothers song. Haven't heard it in years.
FREAKIN AMAZING!!!!!!!
Awesome!
Great performance by the Doobie brothers to one of their most soulful and funkiest songs!!!
This live version is so close to the original album version, it's a tight group.
They looked bored... miss ya Keith!
I'm Skunk Baxter and I'm taking a seat!
I Give This Song 👍👍👍👍💯
This is such a good track! Is it me or does this remind me of Steely Dan in parts, like the horns and piano?
1:43-2:29 is pure DAN.
@@jimlyons809 perhaps just a touch. Then again, band members Michael Mc Donald and Skunk Baxter were both Steely Dan alumni.
Not just you! If Fagen was lead vocal it would sound exactly like a Dan song.
you can identify the era even w/o the sound on simply by those occasional white "vcr track" lines on the screen and michel's BLACK beard.
Hell yeah!!!! Outstanding. Saw the Band in the early 1970's.
Love that song. Ol Skunk sittin in his chair rockin out...
Pat Simmons rips on this one! 1 of my favorite songs.
Love this song can't wait to see them in Hawaii nei 🤙🤙
Great Song ,,,,,,,,,, loved it for years
THIS SONG HAS MEMORIES FOR MANY OF US. MY BEAUTIFUL GIRL FRIEND IN MY 1977
SILVER 1975 NEW PONTIAC GRAND PRIX SUNROOF CRUISING CHICAGO AT NITE WITH THE ROOF OPEN. WE MARRIED IN 1979 AND WERE TOGETHER FOR 31 YEARS.
Funking Brilliant.
Rocking in 2021
2023
Dependin on the Doobies to Give Us 50 more Rockin Years!! CONGRATS PS...🤘💗
Why so little shots of Tiran Porter?
*Hidden Racism*
Fantastic band even without TOM J. For awhile
How fabulous to get good close ups of Keith on backing vocals. Taken way too early ❤ x
And Skunk does basically nothing?
Great show in Inglewood a few weeks ago!! I was very impressed with the Los Angeles places I visited!
Such good music what the hell happened to the world.
Pleasant thoughts of ystr yr Grad.nite 78
Great song but I miss the original singer and Guitarist Tom Johnson.
Very underrated song one of their best. Pat Simmons is such a great musician
Love it!
So no Tom and you have Skink sitting-in… amazing stuff
So resonate...I wish it was returned tho. One sided relationships suck.
Doobie brothers defined mellow und cool
Love this song! Just tackled the solos,.....very tricky.
Amazing sound they all make together
I remember this song vividly. You can see how calm and disciplined the weed gave these guys during performance. In high school 1978 !!!
In me!
OH MY GOD!! NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE!!
A true classic in every time life 🎸🎺🎹
MAGIC as always
Love this song and most of the Doobies tracks....Miss the main man Mr. Johnston. I feel sad that there was a time when he was not part of the group. Glad so glad they all put their differences aside and reclaimed their space in music.
It wasn’t differences, Tom Johnston had a bleeding ulcer, and had to leave the band for health reasons. When they reformed in the late 80’s, he was healed and back as the lead singer.
@@rickrolf6126 He did come back after the health issues, and left again in 1977. It was creative differences that time; he felt like he'd lost his place in the band.
Is that the guy that played guitar on Donna Summer's " Hot Stuff"? The one with the long hair?
The one sitting on the speaker cabinet, "Skunk" Baxter.
золотой состав))
I was in the Bookstore in Malibu ... I discovered the new memoir!!
Peaked at #25 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Don't remember hearing this single upon release. I can recall 10 Doobies singles from hearing them on the radio. 6 with Johnston and 4 with McDonald. Never heard this played in NYC radio listening radius. The song is too wishy washy, actually. They were getting toooo soft with McDonald.
A Doobie Brothers song that not only you enjoy listening to, but you want to DANCE to as well!
I used to hear this song when I was in Navy boot camp.
This is a certified JAM 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Congrats Guys! RRHOF

Why is Skunk sitting down?
Thanks
💚💚💚💚

Skunk has bad bunions.
I never liked when artists would do live promos. Promos should represent the actual recording and be lip synced. Live performances are for concert videos.
Some of the band isn't feeling this tune...lol
Are they high on PCP
Keith is almost nodding off on the drums, he had a horrible Heroin habit at this time
Darling you're always there at the rescue!
Many English people would get even that wrong 😂😂
Brilliant rhythm section groove. So sexy. Try keeping your feet still, let alone "on the ground"!
