Did you guys do "Clear as the Driven Snow" at this one?
My favorite road song on my favorite road album...since 1973!
Thank you for releasing this! It's beautiful.
Thank you dudes so very much ❤️👍🏻☮️😎👍🏻❤️
First time I saw your show was 4/5/74 in San Antonio and the warm up was REO Speedwagon, with Michael Murphy on lead vocals. It was incredible and my 18th birthday. Many birthdays have passed and I've seen you several more times, but you always remember your first.
@@rob-v1y was it on the captain and me?
I always cry when I hear this song
Does this song totally capture the mystic of New Orleans???♥️♥️♥️
It was one thing to enjoy the Doobie Brothers in the 70’s when we were young....but now what a completely different perspective of appreciation as a 60 year old fan!!!!
...awwwww,, HELLLLZZZZ yeah:)!!
Absolutely, raised in S Cal early/mid 70's, these guys were huge. Just turned 62 and still a fan and these guys still sound great and memories just start flooding back.
@@robertglancy4474 Born and raised and 64. It was a great time. I wish I could say I Just Might Pass This Way Again....So Cal will never be like that again. I LOVE this song. Beautiful guitars and vocals.
I couldn't have said it better! Love these guys! Hope to see them again soon! Here in Oklahoma!✌
Becomes eternal. Or, as Sinatra might have said, "It's got the legs."
50 years later and more beatiful than ever...
No dancing triangle, no disrespectful lyrics...... Just pure love and melodies from the doobs
I’m in my 70’s and they still are favorites.
John can play anything with strings! One of the best.
Amen to that.
Never get tired of listening to this one! Has anyone out there beside me noticed just how hauntingly beautiful and etheral so much of the Doobies music is? It just seems to get more and more so each time you listen. Also so much of their less know songs are actually there best? I would enjoy hearing from you if you agree. thanks!
So many to name.
“South City Midnight Lady”
Yes!! I know exactly what you mean!! This version speaks to my soul!!🌹
@@katherinemcdonald587 Good morning, thank you for your reply. Always good to know there are others who love there music as much as I do!
The look of pure joy on the guy's face at 2:16........that's what music is supposed to do.
As soon as I saw his face I 🏃♀️ to the comments to see if anyone else enjoyed that as much as I did! I love his pure joy on his face listening to the most beautiful song ever composed! Ugh so enchanting!
I think this is the best song ever composed by the Doobie Brothers, without disregarding any of the others. What makes this live version even more enjoyable, is the joy with which Pat Simmons sings the song he wrote. Further more, this song is even more delightful with the sax solo than with the original flute version.
Thank you, Doobie Brothers for this peace of art!
Toss up between this and SSML
Loved the Doobie Brothers since I first started listening to their albums in the early 1970s. Of all the songs on the album, Toulouse Street, it was the song of the same title that stayed in mind and heart, and yet, there was so little made of it. I always considered it one of the DB's most gorgeous pieces. Haunting, inward looking, lyrical, flowing. Pat Simmon's fingerstyle work is impeccable. I'm glad Toulouse Street is finally getting its due. The Doobies are one of the great musical treasuries of our times, a true gift and a genuine joy.
This is real music
Just great music , been a fan for 50,years , bought the captain and me , Toulouse street, at 16 ,yes old , just love there music,🎹🎺🎸🎷🎶🎵🎹🎵🎶🎵🎸🎸
John McFee just amazes me with his skills. !
Well, they've been doing this forever, the sound in concert is better, and now they're all sober. They're better than ever.
Gorgeous ballad magically played by a band legend!
Who's on Sax ? Amazing, completes Toulouse Street fits like a hand in a glove. Love it, one of my Doobie Bro. favs, if not the best, after South City Midnight Lady.
I agree!!❤
Can't believe it. All my life. Spent a lot of it in the Dungeon on Toulouse. I was six yo, when this song came out, and I'm just finding out it's about Toulouse. Damn...
I'm always at awe at the variety, versatlity and range of elements weaved through out the Doobs music. I've heard all the songs on all the albums and never get tired of them over 50 years. What a success store. You should have been in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame many years ago. There is really not a better rock group. This song is just another example. Such a pretty acoustical piece. Thank you so much for the many years and please don't ever retire.
Hey guys. A lot of Doobies have fallen away. But you guys kept the spirit. You are all wonderful musicians, all the way along this ride. Thanks brothers!!
Patrick, your songs from back then had this mystery and melancholy that was spellbinding. Thank you. You guys were in town here in San Diego about six years ago at Humphrey’s, and I guess you came to set up a day early. My band was playing in the backstage lounge. and when we did Mojo Hand I did my remote guitar solo in the audience, then came back on stage and my bandmates said “hey way to go playing for the Doobie Brothers”, and I said “What? Where?”
So, you guys were dancing and having a good time and I didn’t have a clue it was you.
What a fantastic group of accomplished musicians. Your music is just incredible and timeless. Thank you.
Love it. Doobs fan since 73!
The Doobie Brothers are a rock band for those of us OGs who still ride out (Scout, not a 74, but if you want to run it, let's go) whether or not anyone is left with whom we wish to settle a score. I'll be 69 this year and that's no joke. But if she puts the top down on the convertible at the light, there's a decent chance that same thing would happen now that would have then. Just takes longer, only happens once and isn't as dramatic.
But Patrick's opening "Toulouse Street" riff, or lick, or arpeggio, whatever that enchanting fretwork is called, doesn't sound at first like the foundation for an eternal piece of Western music. But, by everything that's Holy, Mr. Simmons has here created a masterpiece. I play this cut at least semi-monthly. It was daily for 3-4 months last summer.
This sax playing is one of the subset performances on the instrument in which I hear questions and suggestions being spoken and in a language I cannot understand. But I can hear the interrogative and feel the directionless urge. If the sax weren't so ethereally evocative, the cellist would stand out even more than this playing already does. I'm a (poor) drummer with perfect rhythm (according to a pro player/teacher) and if there is a drummer on this cut, I can't hear him. Which means THAT playing is essentially perfect, as well, like everything else in this performance.
The enormity of the effect of an intuitive arrangement of a good song is not always obvious. Two examples of serially stellar ability to arrange songs so that they fly INTO your head and bounce around for a while ... and then never leave. Tom Petty and Patrick Simmons.
If you haven't, at some point in your life, walked around humming "Another Lonely Park, Another Sunday," or "Toulouse Street" after hearing it in a shop or coming out of a radio playing near a window, I don't wanna know ya. Because those are love songs, vibrations of healing, laid on top of the work of the Poet possessed of an intuitive grasp of the human condition.
Anyone who can make me, at turns, rip/stomp my throttle until I can feel the world going by at a proper getting-tf-out-of-my-way pace, or alternately weep like a baby at a hard life Truth revealed so sweetly I can feel my late father's hand on my shoulder in the moment, has a Muse of barely imaginable power and beauty. "Music" is sometimes too broad a brush for talent like this.
Life-sustaining Art is what it is.
Definitely my favorite Doobie Brothers song
Aawe.. I looove the Doobies. Their music was/is such a huge part of my life. We all are older now, but the music is keeping us young. I love you Doobie bros! 🥰
Wow. What a professional performance.
Im a big doobie bro fan seen em7 times since 74
Just saw these guys at The Cynthia Woods in Spring Texas. What a SHOW. Thought about becoming a groupie and I'm a 70 yr old 🎸
Songs from these 2 albums bring back soooo many memories. Memories of my youth....being in college and really not a care in the world.
Pretty Sweet to Have Billy Payne (Little Feat) playing with you guys. :)
Wow...amazing live performance of such a great song. These guys are true musicians and creative artists, and this song performed live, is just as beautiful now, as it was all those years ago...They don't make em like this anymore!
One of my favorite songs from them. Brings back alot of good memories!
I think I have seen the Doobie Brothers 5 times so far, I hope they come to my town again soon, I am having withdrawal symptoms!!!
Truly a gift for old and young. I was 16 when Black Water was released and now at 63 these musicians still put a quality sound that very few of today's music makers can even come close to.I grew up during the very best time for music . Led me to become a musician.Thank you for all that you gave us then and now, thank you.
Became a fan of the Doobies when the released The Captain and me but unfortunately didnt get to see them until 2019 and they did not disappoint.
I'm over here in England and I was a fan in my teens and remember buying Toulouse Street when I was 16 in 73 and then the wonderful The Captain and me came out shortly after.
Great times for music and I have them all on vinyl of course😁👍
Just another example of this incredible group’s diversity, harmony and style of classic rock un equaled by anyone.
Congratulations on the Hall of Fame , ( long overdue ) induction guys ! 🤙🏻😎
One of my favorite band...Greetings from Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬🇵🇬🇵🇬
awesome that marc quinones is singing! hope he sings more in future projects and concerts.
I was just back in my seat in the third row on a warm summer night.... eyes closed, senses filled....I LOVE THIS BAND... I have my money in my hand... waiting for the next tour💙😎🙋🏻♀️
How good is this performance? Wow!
One of my fave songs from one of my favorite bands! Seeing you Doobies, this Sunday!
Greetings from a fan from the Netherlands!!
If The Doobies are my first post-covid concert, that'd be just alright with me!
This is what I love about the Doobies. They pull out album cuts all the time and even make them better! What a great song.
The music leads to heaven but the lyrics lead to house of the rising sun.
Gorgeous, velvety sax!
Doobie DEEP CUTS ARE THE BEST
I Cheat the Hangman and Ukiah.
WXJK Farmville Va . Available on onlineradiobox. Deep tracks.
Choosing a favorite Doobie's song may be a matter of mood or your season. Toulouse Street always has been my stop, listen and feel song. So Bravo to the band that creates music to evoke emotion and remain fresh for generations
John McFee is one hell of a musician!
If it has a string he can play it!
One of the highest order.
Wow, this is terrific!!!
When I was young, I thought these guys were great. Now, they are better than great. Keep it up guys. You Rock.💯💯💯
no light.... to show us.... the one s we are ... any light we find us as... who let s us be that light...... we were born to be.......
Beautiful with the Cello and the sax!
I never understood why this, one of the most beautiful songs ever, AND was the title track of their sophomore album was never on any of their best of/greatest hits anthologies aside from the 4 💿 cd box 📦 set. Patrick should've put his foot down and insisted it be included. Amazing 👏 to see this new live version!
Fantastic Doobie Brothers!
I LOVE this version!
Oh no one like The Doobie Bros...remember you and Santa Cruz Mountains, highway 280 and the bay area. Thank you,I love all of you
This is probably one of my favorite Doobie Brothers songs. I listen to the album often and wish that I can mix the old with the new... the sax alone moves my heart to new places.
Always love it when they play the deep tracks from the 70s.
THE DOOBIE BROTHERS FANTASTIC.
Doobie's were always one of my favorite bands. Saw them in concert at the Forum in Los Angeles in the 70's. Fantastic group! Still listen to their music today.
Great to see Tom and Patrick singing this live
Masterpiece
One of my favorite bands !!!I've always Loved this song with its haunting lyrics & beautiful melodies even after all this time together! Such talented musicians and am amazed at how many instruments John McFee plays through all these years!!

Hands down the most beautiful song about nola.
Just saw you guys live. Omg what an experience. Phenomenal
What a gift. Thank you Doobies, thanks for the magic.
Beautiful haunting tune!
Yeah, One of the greatest Doobies songs of all time. Most versatile band EVER. Likin Bill Payne on Keyboards (Little Feat). Mc Fee is so versatile. Simmons is my guitar inspiration from decades to now. Doobies!.
This is so beautiful.
素晴らしいね💯泣ける曲😭😭
Simply refreshing on a cold winter night

No words to describe how much I personally enjoy the music of the Doobie Brothers. 2nd concert of my life in 1978. The first was KISS. Well, I’ve seen the DB every chance I get and love their meet and greet sessions. They are true Americans that lay down their soulful, beautiful and rocking ass songs in our hearts and God knows I’m grateful for my hearing!
