@@posionapple4836She wasn't assaulted, it was "consensual" with a boy her age, but I'll admit she's too young to give consent, so was he. Double statutory rape. This isn't the thing though, it's that no matter what once that child was born, he was a person by law and abandoning your baby in a trashcan is negligent (attempted) homicide. This is a really serious crime. Addison spoke to them sternly, but also made it clear that they had the right of consent to their physical bodies. Imagine being such an unsupportive/strict mother that your child feels throwing their baby in the trash is a better option than telling you they're pregnant because they're scared of your reaction.
Literally. Hiding a pregnancy with whatever means necessary, giving birth in a bathroom stall without assistance, and walking away moments later still physically wounded from the process, pretending you didn’t just leave a baby to rot in a trash can. That was a more appealing option to this girl than being honest with her parents. I know it’s fiction but this happens in reality too, and in the show, I kinda hope that girl AND her baby were pulled from those parent’s custody.
Probably not as a supportive and strict mother, the girl literally did the worst thing for her age, literally every fucking mom would be mad, I hope your never a parent soon because you’d suck ass at it.
This is why you have to show your kids that you’re a safe person to talk to. And that they won’t get into trouble for telling you about a dangerous thing.
You also have to actually BE a safe person to your child. The sad part about this story is the amount of levels that would prevent this, starting with "hey, there's a boy I like". A lot of parents are only interested in being top and the one and only lobster against their children, and this is the result of that.
Uhhhhh no. Even if you can't talk to your parents about it, I don't know a SINGLE 14 year old who would throw their LIVE BABY in the trash because they were scared what their parents would think. That is straight up psychopathic behavior.
@@adararelgnel2695 I'm gonna be honest - I understood the comment as a general "kids don't feel safe" and not as a "this tv series clip is real life". There are multiple problems pestering youths that could be avoided just by feeling and being safe to share. It's not just reproductive health, it's also dr_gs, sui_ide, self ha_m, eating disorders, bullying, keeping boundaries, reporting DV and other situations to authorities. The general lack of safety (real and imagined) is really concerning, especially with youths, that don't have the resources (including access or knowledge to and of it). I'm old(er), I remember during the revenge p_rn 'trend' thinking "how TF someone asks for n_des and kids (late teens) just do as told?". As we grow older we are more aware of how defenseless kids are. My comment was not meant as a 'this happens', but a 'kids need to feel safe at home, because they aren't empowered to achieve beneficial outcomes'. This not being an everyday occurrence isn't because of personal morality, but a lack of necessity to do so. There are still baby boxes in first world countries where frightened mothers may safely leave their newborns anonymously. This (topic in video) is still an issue.
@@adararelgnel2695 there have been an awful lot of young girls who have gotten pregnant and then disposed of the infants in dangerous ways (ie the trash) in the news. a big reason for it is fear of getting in trouble. that's an obvious one. they're still kids and all they're thinking about is 'i don't want to get in trouble' as opposed to 'what am i supposed to do to help this baby?' because kids think like kids. if they don't trust their parents, they're going to make some very poor choices because they'll be making them on their own. kids don't make good adult decisions. that's not to say they don't bear responsibility for their actions -- they know the difference between right and wrong. but fear is a hell of a motivator.
My mother married at 14 to get off the farm. I was born in her 15th year. Being a farm girl, she was quite disciplined and resourceful. She went back to school, completing high school, and studied accounting in college. She stopped college two classes shy of her degree as she retired from 46 years in a city government position. We literally grew up and old together. An upside of having a young mother is having her with me into my 70s. She died several years ago. I miss her so much.
Your mom sounds like she was an amazing person. So sorry for your loss. Perhaps if you write a book remembering all the good times it would prove to be therapeutic for you while at the same time it would help others.
My mom had my brother on her 16th bday. Got pregnant to leave her abusive home. She had me 3 wks past her 18th bday and my younger sister a week past her 23rd. My mom is 77 and dying of COPD. She could totally be a sibling to me. Her eldest sister was 21 years older than she. Life is weird. 🤷♀️
I once read something I want to stick to should I ever have children: „Be the kind of parent that your kids will call FIRST when they mess up, not the kind of parent they‘ll be terrified to tell they messed up.“
Thats how my parents are kind of, like depending on how I fucked up which I rarely do these days since I'm old enough to know better at 32 😂, I will always confide in my parents as they raised me right, to always do the right thing. And if I ever have kids of my own or adopt I will be like that for them too.
Yeah, thats hard to do. I'm not sure I know how, and if I would know, I'm not sure how I would raise a kid to be self-relient at the same time with knowing they can rely on me. Like, at some point they have to know that in the end they're on their own and be ready to it by the time they're adults, right?
i love how she hugged her after. the girl was so in the wrong but that doesn’t mean you yell or hurt them. also it’s such a relief when you finally hear the truth
The parents and their judgemental tone are to blame. No child should be petrified to tell their parents the truth about a problem no matter how severe!

Actually, it depends. In some states and in canada you are legally allowed medical secrecy and to do decisions without a guardian approval. Which honestly may have saved my life. Parents are the worst in some cases and will make you sick because of their emotions
Actually if in the case that just were sex without pregnancy yes she has to say it, but when you get pregnant basically you get emancipated and get your own decision like give the baby to adoption or stay with your baby and also baby’s father same case cause it supposed to get a job with no restrictions about working schedule as a teenager
Actually, after a certain age (in the US it's 14 federally but some states have lower ages) you get executive medical decision making when it comes to reproductive health and can request that your parents not be informed about your medical status. Girls who are pregnant or have had a baby can legally require information to be withheld from their parents without a court order requesting said information.

When the Docs found out they went to treat the baby but unfortunately it died of suffocation from being stuffed in the trash can, the baby's body had a blueish color. When the Doctors broke the news to the young girl and her mother, who was present, the young girl showed more fear towards her mother finding out then she did any concern for the baby. There was actually a case where a girl named Rose was pregnant at 16 and still managed to hide it until she went to the hospital. She went to the hospital because her back was really sore but asked to go to the bathroom halfway through. She then gave birth in the bathroom, put her newborn in a trash bag and threw him in the bin. The doctors found the baby 20 mins or so later but the baby had already passed away. She is in jail now but I’m not sure what degree of murder it was. The sad thing is that her mom made jokes about her daughter being pregnant after the baby was found and didn’t even get mad at her daughter.
It's so important to teach your kids the importance of safe sex. Of course abstinence is the only sure way to avoid pregnancy and STDs, but teens are hormonal and some are bound to act on it. Not to mention SA is unfortunately common; not all pregnancies and stds happen because they had consensual sex. It's also important to teach them what to do in the case of pregnancy and contracting an std (i.e. get parental help and see a doctor)
@@user-tj8lz3rt8o Yeah, listen, teens are going to do what they are going to do whether you want them to or not. The most important thing is to give them the information and tools to do so safely, if they choose to do so. Free will is a thing, and you can only control so much as a parent. The harder you try and control them, the harder they rebel and push back against you.
My mom had a situation when a family brought their daughter to her ER for 'abdominal pain'. While examining her she realized she was in labor. She called our OB department to bring down the tocometer and ultrasound and then told the parents what was going on. They denied, the father was screaming at my mother all kinds of nasty names and things. So the OB nurse then was hooking her up and she looked at him dead in the eye and said "hear that, that is your daughter's heartbeat. Hear this, that is the baby's heartbeat". He started yelling again and his wife just stood there a second before telling him to go to the waiting room and sit down. The young lady had a healthy child (don't remember what it was). My mom was never flinched or got upset but had a very professional attitude and demeanor the whole time focusing on the young lady and the other patient inside her.
@@Nicole73076No. Apparently the pregnant girl's parents was clueless that their daughter was pregnant and the pregnant girl's dad was so angry he was shouting at the Nurse about the situation. Although there was so much chaos in the room the nurse which is this persons Mom was very professional and kept calm
She's rich, white and in America. She's not going to jail. She'll go to therapy. Had she been poor, black or brown, all these, she didn't know what she was doing, folks, would definitely be screaming, put her in prison.
My grandmother lived with my aunt and cousin when I was young. My cousin was 16 when she got pregnant. She didn’t tell anyone, but it was my grandmother who figured it out first because she was the one to do laundry, realized there was no “ time of the month “ accidents, and also noticed the feminine hygiene products were not being used. My aunt was clueless.
The type of parent I always wanted to be, was one my kids felt comfortable enough to talk to about anything. My bonus daughter who is 16, I have been her other mom since she was a baby, feels more comfortable talking to me than her own mom. I told her I would rather know and be able to give her advice on how to protect herself and for me to protect her as well. Rather than something bad happen to her.
This happens! It’s so sad. Thankfully more states are implementing safe haven baby boxes so you can leave a baby safely at a fire station with no repercussions from the law it has already saved many babies lives! ❤
I thought that was nationwide by now. It certainly should be! All of the pro-lifers should support this AND put their money where their mouths are, especially since overturning Roe vs. Wade.
@@charminglady2011a lot of the baby boxes have social media pages so a lot of teens will see/hear about them online. even if one from another state pops up it can inspire them to look it up online to find one in their state
This episode is based on a real case. The teenage girl did dump her baby in the trash and he died while her mom kept denying she was ever pregnant. The girl was terrified of her mom. The thing is she should have gotten an abortion in the first place or given the child up for adoption. The thing is it's mainly the parents' fault for not being the type their kids could talk to.
@@taiyabazaheer9492 That talk should start sooner than later. Some parents are out of touch and have never done so. They raise their children based on naive assumptions by projecting their unrealistic views that they grew up with, onto them. To grow up feeling undervalued is too heavy a weight of shame to bear.
Unfortunately, this is based off the ealiers stories of this happening. Hundreds of babies have been found over the years, one was even at her prom. That is why they had to make the safe haven laws just trying to save innocent babies from that fate. The most recent one was even worse because if she had walk out of that bathroom and handed the baby to any staff in the hospital she could have walked away scott free and nothing would have happened to her. Poor baby.
This happened in my country near where I lived, the mother went to the hospital because she was bleeding out after labor at home, she gave the Dr very vague and inconsistent history regarding her bleeding and the only when Dr did a scan and found out her uterus was abnormally larger than normal, called the cops and a baby was found in the trash near the forest covered in ants. Fortunately the baby was saved and is health.
I know someone who along time ago got pregnant at 14. Whenever her single mother found out she contacted the 18 year old who was the father. His parents stepped in agreed that abortion was best and that girl was forced into aborting her baby. 40+ years later that girl still lives with the guilt. At 14 she wasn’t given a choice
At 14 your parents make that choice. That's how it works and why you don't do adult things until you're old enough to decide for yourself. I know someone who had to terminate at 17. She got pregnant on purpose to test the parents and learned a hard lesson in the process.
@@Anon_159 my point? Minors don't have a choice, period. Parents make the decisions. That is, unless they are emancipated minors, which is another case.
@chiarac3833 I am EXTREMELY pro-choice, but that’s what it has to be, a CHOICE. And btw, you are 100% legally WRONG. It is not up to the parents weather their teenage child has an abortion. When it comes to their pregnancy, minors actually become _medically_ emancipated. No one can legally force her into any medical decision regarding her pregnancy- she is treated as an adult without any say from the parents. When they are forced into an abortion etc it is not because their parents have the RIGHT to make them, it is because if they are dependent on their parents they are often coerced. But no, legally all decisions regarding a pregnancy are up to the mother alone, regardless of age.

Too many parents dont understand that if they arent willing to teach your kid, sex ed, or about the real world, someone who doesnt have their best interests in mind will teach them gladly
My mother delivered a baby of a girl who was 4 days into being 13. She delivered ot on the bathroom floor of the girl's apartment. The parents did not know she was pregnant. When she went to the hospital, they put her in the children's ward because she was under 14. She had gone to that hospital the night before with "terrible menstrual cramps," so said the doctor who dealt with her. They gave her extra strength Tylenol and sent her home. He must have been very surprised at the five pound menstrual cramp that showed up the next day.
I always wonder when there is a teen pregnancy why is it always the girl's fault? All that speech could be applied to the teen "father", but they always manage to flee.
Because women control access to sex. She has to consent or it's a crime. The burden of responsibility is on her because the consequences are hers to bear. He writes a check every month but the life and body altering changes affect her directly.
Literally searched for this comment. Because why the heck is a child going to Juvie for not being a good mother. Instead blame the parents, not the child.
Well she abandoned her newborn. She left it in a thrash can in a restroom at school. It almost died. So in my eyes she did more than “being a bad mom”.
@meellie umm, she is a child. How the heck is she supposed to know what to do with a newborn? Especially if no one has taught her? And why would anyone have? She is a child, she is not able to concent and should not be having children.

To be more afraid of the parent’s disappointment and punishment than the consequences of their own actions is terrifying. Kids need to trust their parents and feel supported- not afraid 💔
The weight of the decision on these little girls, because parents REFUSE to give sex education. They just restrict their daughters, and let their sons loose.
Most times, the girls ARE given enough education to know that you don't drop your knickers for a boy you aren't married to. That's pretty much the basic bottom line. If you open your legs you deserve what's coming to you.
Rather than focusing whether parents should know their your daughter was hiding a pregnancy. I think the bigger concern is the daughter was so terrified to tell her parents, she was willing to throw a baby away.
I was told by my parents that if i ever got pregnant as a minor, i would be kicked out and either my baby would go with me or they would keep it. Not even "if you get r*ped then-" no just plain you are kicked out. And concidering they are major pro-life, id have no option if i was r*ped. And i was. And i missed my period for 3 months and was terrified. Never told my parents and luckily(ha) it was only due to the stress of the situation and instability of my hormones. @namenotfound2456 you're not educated on abortion. However as a pro-lifer I don't believe in kicking out the kid and believe in helping your child when necessary and being there for them in a time like this. Kicking them out is heartless and brutal.
There is a 14 years old CHILD that got rap3d and had to go through pregnancy and birth by herself, but sure, let’s blame her for reacting terrified and not knowing what to do. Children are not ready to be parents, especially with no guidance. They shouldn’t be blamed or retraumatized, which is what happens when she shows her the baby
As a 14 year old she was (statutory raped) yes . But it doesn’t give you the license to kill a child she known what she was doing the second she tried killing the child . She is at fault for attempted murder
Back in the early 80's I worked in a tiny hospital in NW Arkansas. Chubby girl wearing overalls came in, went to the exam room and turned to me and said "I'm in labor. I don't want this baby and I don't want my Daddy to find out! She silently delivered her child, dressed, met up with her Dad in the waiting room and walked out! Left a newborn there in the ER! Rarely am I speechless but I was then!!
These are the disgusting types of enabling parents that should have never had kids!! But don’t let this stop you from bringing an amazing soul into this world. It’s all about how you raise the child to be the best that they can be. Open, honest, truthful, compassionate, loving, empathetic and nonjudgmental. And you’d be surprised at what they can accomplish on their own!!
I could NEVER speak to my parents about my life problems as a teenager or as an adult, but I’ve made sure my daughters can come to me to tell/ ask me ANYTHING. I will ALWAYS put them FIRST regardless of the consequences that may follow, I’ll deal with that later. Loving your kids is setting them boundaries but also leaving the door open for communication without boundaries.
@sofitocyn100 If her child is comfortable enough to talk to her about anything, she won't have to Bury anyone. But that girl that was not able to talk to her parents about things did almost Bury a child it happened in front Of your eyes and you're still delusional because you have to be right for some reason. What are you trying to be right about? Children are human beings too. u might not be human. I would 100% consider that before anything else.
Same. Being raised in a judgemental, perfectionistic environment didn't teach me to be perfect. It taught me to lie and hide my mistakes. It taught me that the love i received was completely conditional and I was alone any time I needed help. And it wasn't just how I was spoken to and treated, it was how I heard my family speak about other people in tough situations. I probably got myself in far more trouble growing up than I had to, simply because I had no one to turn to for guidance. I didn't want to lose my family. If they knew I'd messed up, I'd have no one. The thought of that was terrifying. So I'm trying a different approach with my kids. They don't get in trouble when they mess up as long as they are honest about it and do their part to make things right again. When my oldest gets in trouble at school, i usually hear about it from her before her teacher even gets a chance to tell me. We don't yell at our girls, and we don't discipline out of anger. We don't judge them, nor do we protect them from consequences. We just try to teach them. Of course, we haven't perfected our parenting style. It's definitely not sunshine and rainbows all the time. But i don't have to worry about my kids flat out lying to me about things. Although my oldest does omit details from time to time, I think that's pretty normal for her age. I'll admit, it was easier when she was younger because I convinced her I was psychic and knew everything already, so she figured there was no point in hiding anything. Thankfully, I'm a good guesser. 😅
The worst part is "theyre going to juvie" im sorry thats a kid. You know why she ended up doing that? Bc she had no support. Bc the environment she was in taught her that teenage pregnancy meant she was dirty and broken and undeserving. So in her fear and desperation, hid the evidence. It was wrong, but if her family and school wasnt so seeped in puritan bullshit, that 14 yr old likely wouldnt have had to suffer that in the first place. (I know its a show, but growing up in that environment and watching classmates be treated like the girl from Scarlet Letter while pregnant in a christian institution...yeah, that radicalized me REAL quick.)
Teenage pregnancy is dirty and stupid. Don't teach them it's alright to get pregnant as a teenager. Teenagers still live with their parents and their brains aren't fully developed, they can't handle having kids.
Really? You sound like you just wanted to do whatever you wanted to do without adhering to rule or standards. And now you want everyone to say it's ok to live you truth. Being a devote Christian is hard and the path is narrow, everyone struggles with temptation. But you gave into it instead of listening to you parents and your school.
The amount of people in these comments acting like it’s normal to be having sex at 14 is scary. Let me rephrase this for you. It’s normal for YOU! Many MANY people aren’t even thinking of sex at that age and I’m sick and tired of people trying to act like every single kid or teen is having sex, drinking, smoking, partying, etc etc! That’s normal for YOU. The majority of these kids and teens and just living basic normal lives. You will not make them feel weird for not acting like a fool. Kudos to you out there living normal and happy lives. You don’t have to be that way and there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact you are in the right!
I don’t think you realize that when people say that it’s normal for 14 year olds to have sex they mean that it’s just not something unusual. It is within the normal age bracket. The same way that it is not unusual for them to not give a damn about it. In the context of this clip it is more about the mother being adamant that 14 year olds are never sexually active which is plain untrue. While a lot of them might not be, you can not assume that a 14 year old can not be pregnant, solely because she is 14 and you think they don’t start that early. The reason why young teens having sex is discussed more often is because them having sex without adequate education and competent guardians brings a lot more complications then being inactive and playing with dolls. There’s simply less to discuss on that front. That being said, it is just as normal to not care about the whole topic at that age or to even find it appalling. And even if it were, no shame in being different lol
I was never sexually active as a teenager, yet anytime I got sick and went to the doctor the first thing doctors and nurses wanted was for me to get a pregnancy test. I was so confused and upset that instead of helping me, seeing what was wrong with me and give me medicine, they were just trying to brush me away with "she must be pregnant".
@@ThatWeirdPlaceInYT Nurse here. They didn't run a pregnancy test bc they thought you must be pregnant. They ran a pregnancy test to make sure you weren't pregnant before giving you any medications or tests that could harm a pregnancy. They have to cover their butts before doing any treatments
Woah, there's a real life story of a woman throwing her newborn into the trash as well. Here's the story: A teen was pregnant and didn't want her mom to find out, so when she was in the hospital, she was complaining about a stomach problem or something, but the doctors were telling her that she's pregnant but she kept denying it, a few minutes/hours later, she was ready to give birth, but didn't want anyone to know, so she locked herself up in the Women's Bathroom and gave birth there. Panicking, she threw her newborn in the trash without feeling an inch of guilt just so no one finds out. But it's pretty hard to cover up giving birth, due to all the blood on the floor (the janitor was the one who found her i think). Soon after someone found her, they contacted authorities and they charged her for murder because the newborn was found dead in the trash (also, she tried to cover the newborn in between the trash so that they don't find it... Cruel)
is that the one about the 19yo? where she went into the bathroom for about 45mins, gave birth, threw the baby at the bottom of the bag, covered it, left the blood all on the floor - without even trying to clean it, and walked out like nothing happened?
@@Mad-Cat-In-A-Hat and i also unintentionally read this and replied nine hours later, due to me starting to binge watch breaking bad while being high 😭
Not cruel. She was scared. And had been through a traumatic event by herself. You don’t think straight when you’ve given birth. Imagine being so scared you can’t tell your own mother.
@nottycm5010 dude... Scared or not, no human being- no, no living creature should kill their own child after birth just because the mother was scared of raising a child. I don't care if us humans can be embarrassed or scared of giving birth at a young age, frightened or not, that baby is alive and capable of feeling pain, just imagine being born and then feel suffocated in trash.
When I worked at the pediatrician’s office for a time there was a mom that came in with 3 kids and a newborn. A boy 14M a girl 12F and another girl 7F. I was asking the mother about baby’s birth, weight, vaccines etc. The 12 year old kept answering, which in itself isn’t unusual, I’ve had kids answer for their mom because mom doesn’t speak English but it turns out the 12 year old was the MOM and the boy was the (unrelated) FATHER.

Actually, after a certain age (in the US it's 14 federally but some states have lower ages) you get executive medical decision making when it comes to reproductive health and can request that your parents not be informed about your medical status. There was a case like this not too long ago. A teenage girl was in the hospital for pains in her stomach, I believe. She asked to go to the bathroom and after a couple of hours the nurses sense something odd and knocks on the door to see if she's ok. She exits as if everything is all right but later on one of the cleaning ladies went into the bathroom and discovers a baby in a plastic bad stuffed in the garbage can. The mother also showed more anger towards her daughter then she did any concern for her now dead grandbaby. I know that what the young girl did too her baby was horrific but I can't help but believe her mother played a huge part in her daughters psyche. I'm sure the father was maybe equally to blame but he was the only one who showed concern for the baby when he found out.

She was a kid, that shouldn’t have been active nor having a kid. She should have gotten some mental help/therapy since then.

So you could help your child bury a corpse?
Never seen the handler show so much compassion before. It’s endearing
Hm......
That same environment that told me teenage sex and pregnancy is a no go, is the same reason I wasn't pregnant as a teenager 🤔
Teenage pregnancy is dirty and stupid. Don't teach them it's alright to get pregnant as a teenager. Teenagers still live with their parents and their brains aren't fully developed, they can't handle having kids.

I was still playing with dolls at 14
I don’t think you realize that when people say that it’s normal for 14 year olds to have sex they mean that it’s just not something unusual.

Woah, there's a real life story of a woman throwing her newborn into the trash as well.
Here's the story:
A teen was pregnant and didn't want her mom to find out, so when she was in the hospital, she was complaining about a stomach problem or something, but the doctors were telling her that she's pregnant but she kept denying it, a few minutes/hours later, she was ready to give birth, but didn't want anyone to know, so she locked herself up in the Women's Bathroom and gave birth there.
Yep, and i unintentionally replied 45 mins later lol.
Now i have "Prom Night Dumpster Baby" playing in my head.
The girl who was pregnant should not be punished. She felt obligated to throw her baby away because of her parents.
I think that the girl should be punished for doing that to the baby.
