If anyone wants to know some background to this game, I think I know it. I believe the reason that his wife could find him is because this train goes to something like the land of the dead. In short his wife is dead and he managed to escape back to our world thanks to the advise of a god.
I picked that up. There were hints that we died at some point in the game but it is definitely the end for me that confirmed it where the wife says "you're here too early".
That is exactly what I was thinking happened.
I think it's a reference to how in some stories you end up on a train when you die. And that station is the final stop. The end of life. The afterlife. Neither good nor bad. It's just there.
Imagine a horror game in real life and random noises suddenly came out of your mouth like a speaker this is what I picture it would look like
