It would good to point out what you can get for console. I started playing and invested some IRL Money "not alot" just got 3 ships, key, duty officers and inventory slots. Which can't be transferred to PC if I wanted to switch.

Atm watching nearly all videos on my laptop so my main pc can just lvl its klingon and other characters xD ty again so much for the simple yet super effective videos brother appreciate you 1love .
Part of the reason why people say it's broken is because hundreds of people are selling zen for dilithium but no one is doing the opposite. For the past three weeks I have been trying to sell dilithium to no avail. Nothing even happens.
You know, I've been playing this game since beta. I love Trek and all things Trek. I love this game so much. It's really starting to press on me the money grabbing the way it's set up. It's not very different than it's always been with ships. It's just starting to weigh on me after all the years. They expect us to pay 30 bucks for a t6 ship 3k zen and zen is 10 dollars for 1k. That's not enough though. Then we need to buy a fleet module for a bunch of ships. That's not enough though. Then we need to buy upgrade tokens to get the most out of all of those ships. We have to buy inventory space. We have to buy bank space for single characters but that's not enough. We need to buy separate account bank space. We need to buy extra character slots. We need to buy gambling keys to get the coolest ships. We have to buy a freaking unlock to be able to hold more energy credits. Oh but we also need to struggle constantly for dilithium. It's a spiral of pay pay pay. I so long for the days when we could at least subscribe monthly for some extra things but even that was taken away and now we can 0ay 200 for a lifetime subscription. It doesn't even include the expensive t6 ships and the double and triple cost 9f upgrading those ships. 500 zen a month for a lifetime sub is annoyingly small. Ok rant over. Thanks for reading my whining and letting me vent. All those complaints being stated ... I'll see you all in game! Lol

10 years ago I had 5 toons and 4 of them were just to funnel credit and dilithium to my main toon, really need to het another pc, had all epic upgraded gear on kelvin connie
Yeah it's too bad about the exchange the amount of ships from past events, packs and such is ridiculous. If the cost wasn't so much and many more ships, consoles, etc were reigned in by I guess what is now gearbox in the future it'd go a long way to cause more players to get more involved. But as Spencer stated to me, their making a huge amount of profit and people are continuing to spend the money. Maybe if that changed which it's not going to Spencer made it clear players or sto maybe then changes would come to the exchange. Which is too bad, cause so many ships will remain unattainable due to how much you have to grind to get them. I do have one question Mcstu I never can get a clear answer whether through googling it or asking other players, what the credit cap is for console, I've read two billion, but wanted to be sure hopefully no ships sell for over that amount on there. Anyway enjoy your content keep doing what you do as I've enjoyed your channel!
I honestly don't care about anything else than the events (don't get me started about Q's Winterwonderland). As a Console player the Campaigns of third party Fall often completely flat. Add to this STO has, as many other games, not enough content to play it as long as the grinds would require. But if i ever change my mind i know where to look for thx for that work. Have a nice day. :)
So basically Cryptek made getting a decent ship for free so mind numbingly long and tedious that it is easier to just give them money that they absolutely do not put back into the game -.-
I missed the chance to get the Khitomer alliance battlecruiser. It was a ship I was really looking forward to. Idk if cryptic will put a way to acquire it in the game. It’s been a while since that event has ended. But thanks for the info.
6:16 I got really confused for a second there as ied just looked at when this video came out. 12:28 ok so that’s were that ship came from, I’m levelling it for its trait on an alt but I couldn’t for life of me remember we’re ied gotten it, I was sure ied not used any zen on it.
A lot of people dont realise getting 300mil ec for a t6 is not actually thst bad. Tour the galaxy is ok but a better way to make a LOT more than 1 mil is to sell your R & D materials and components, you will be surprised when you realise how much some of them sell for. You are always picking up R& D mats and a lot of the time they are just sitting in your inventory, just sell them, you can always get more.
All complaints aside, this shows how fair of a F2P game STO actually is. Of course you have to know what you're doing, but with videos like this, it's not a real problem. Yes, the game itself could do a better job at explaining stuff. I returned after 8y and had absolutely no clue. However that's where you have to cut an old game some slack. It has over the years grown into a content monster. But there are a lot of helpful and friendly players around to get you on track.
Thanks for making this video. I appreciate what you're doing to help potential new players to stick around and enjoy the game. Totally agree about time having value. Grinding for ZEN puts people on the road to burnout.
I use to grind for Zen to get outfit packs, like I got the Jupiter Set by doing that and I got enough Zen to get the Delta Flyer. But that was way back when the prices for Zen were far more reasonable 200-220 dilithium per zen. But that was a long long time ago.
We could get there again if they got most of the dil out of the economy by giving us something actually good to buy with it. Most of the quick methods that people were using 20+ alts to farm it have already been nerfed.
I used to sell R&D items for credits to buy ships. I bought my favorite ship off the exchange and quit after the release of new T6 ships made it obsolete.
These are full of great wisdom, but Be advised that this is for PC ONLY and does not address any console editions. Is there any chance you could clarify this in your tags??
I can do 20K zen through grind a month if I push it and there isn't a massive backlog of Zen orders just rinse and repeat the Ferengi tour of duty admiralty boost on multiple toons, Running out of things to buy from the Zen store so grinding to do giveaways next xmas.
another great video explaining things to a newbie like myself me personally I'm no hurry to get the best stuff to get the top most powerful ships whatever even though I'm a newbie I'm taking my time playing the game and enjoying the storyline I know it's an older game but I still like the storyline in the options of doing other things I know for you veterans a lot of stuff has changed and that's why a lot of people have stopped playing it I guess would be my opinion like most games you know Star Wars Galaxy which I played for years when Sony first came out with it then it was dumbed down in my opinion I was a veteran and here comes the newbies and after a month's time not even everybody's running around with Lifesavers in the city no pre-death the point is I understand why the veterans quit cuz things change too much for them when you love a game and have compassion for it and all of a sudden these changes are made and it's not the same but overall just like Star Wars Galaxy I kept playing even though it changed because I played for myself just like this game here I actually enjoy it but I know it's not for everyone but your videos make it a lot easier to play this game and I appreciate that keep up the great work
I think the T6 coupons are my favourite. But I still don't know which reward I'll pick for the year long event. I'm not doing "free to play" but even then, I have a ton of ships account unlocked...I need to stop collecting so many Federation ships though lol.
If you grind Dil hardcore on 10+ toons for a few months you can amass enough to trade it on the exchange for a few thousand Zen (which currently takes a few weeks to sell), which will buy you between 3 to 4 single ships in the store or one ship bundle, depending on the discount. Only ever buy stuff on discount! Since cryptic have significantly lowered the Dil rewards for the rep system, it is possible to scrape together about 500k Dil per toon with reasonable time investment (ca. 2 months), which nets you 1000 Zen on the exchange. So you'll need to grind 3 toons daily over 2 months simultaneously for one ship on F2P. So it is easily possible to grind out a dozen Zen store ships over a year if you go all out with Dil farming alone. Provided you don't have much of a life that is. Rewards from the year long event campaign plus eventual T6 coupons and event ships can get you another 2 - 6 T6 ships a year. Giveaways can also get you multiple decent ships if you're lucky. So playing STO hardcore for a year and exploiting all possibilities should give you access to all the fancy ships you need or want for free. You only pay for it all with your lifetime. ;)
@@DarKcS2 As it currently stands, it definitely can take a few weeks to a month to sell. And the backlog is steadily growing. And the current price is pretty much fixed at 500 Dil per Zen. Also try selling larger positions, at least 500k Dil.
Love the game just think the ships are so expensive, I don't have the time or the money to buy a t6 ship or grind to get one. If they were cheaper I'd buy the ship I want and be done. Shame I didn't have this game when I was younger and had the time to grind.
Its 8 ships IF you play PC its 5-6 for Console (no giveaway codes for us) but oure Dill Excange is not ( jet) Broken ;P STU, yes I know working as intended but only on ONE side, therefore... it is broken.. ( Hyper inflated as the backlog was what 3,5 mill last time I checked ? )
It is good to check the xbox live marketplace entry/ps equivalent though, there are sometimes giveaway promotion things that'll show up there but not in any of the ingame interfaces. Just in case you didn't know. There's a free multibarrel phaser pistol from lower decks (mechanically identical to the lobi one I think) that went up recently.
@@thomasjoychild4962 True! there is. Its never a ship thou, its always a ground weapon (Bound to Character on pickup) pack + maybe slots for Bank / ACC bank / caracter
mil dps...Im happy to get 50k-95k and thats with everything epic on a T6X. how the heck do you get a mil dps? I know its done just not sure what the build is to achieve that.
Also depends on enemy density. Most missions won't give you the opportunity to deal that much damage. Usually, people hit such high numbers by playing Infected: The Conduit on Advanced or Elite, and attacking the transformers but not the generators that heal them, so they can rack up massive amounts of damage. I think mission clear time for Japori Elite is a much better gauge of your actual combat effectiveness.
I hate the kind of justification for monetization in the game by saying how easy it is to get a job and the irl money instead of playing the game, logic like that keeps these cashscams alive.
That was my point, the free grind is to much. Month of grinding compared to a few hours of work at minimum wage was just an example to illustrate that point. It was not a justification.....
1:26 I totally disagree. It cost time. The most precious of all currencies. By far the most precious because you can't regain it. And in the way the game is right now and how many dumb ways the devs employed to waste the time of the players the cost-benefit for investing your time in this game is becoming worst and worst year after year. Remember kids, if it's free it means you are the product.
Seems like a second job just to play F2P...was looking forward to playing but you just talked me out of it, just looking for a fun F2P game that I don't have to work my butt off doing it.

I started playing and invested some IRL Money "not alot" just got 3 ships, key, duty officers and inventory slots. Which can't be transferred to PC if I wanted to switch.
Waddup dude , again nice video not that im in need of this information but it helped me understand quite a few things. Atm watching nearly all videos on my laptop so my main pc can just lvl its klingon and other characters xD ty again so much for the simple yet super effective videos brother appreciate you 1love .
I've never had anyone buy my dil and I've been playing since the beginning.
Lol
Hey dude great 👍 video. FYI letting people know about the discords that giveaway ships I think would have fit.
Honorable mention to the account unlock T6 M'Chla Bird of Prey from KDF recruitment.
Yep, had it on my topes and forgot it... Good call
What is kdf recruitment?

These events currently include:
Delta Recruitment: for 2409 Starfleet, Romulan Republic and Klingon Defense Force characters.
Temporal Agent Recruitment: for TOS Starfleet characters.
Gamma Recruitment: For Dominion characters.
Klingon Recruitment: For Klingon Defense Force characters.😀😀
Two billion. Ships above that are usually traded in trade channels.
@@raijinmeister thank you for telling me ☺️
I honestly don't care about anything else than the events (don't get me started about Q's Winterwonderland). As a Console player the Campaigns of third party Fall often completely flat. Add to this STO has, as many other games, not enough content to play it as long as the grinds would require. But if i ever change my mind i know where to look for thx for that work.
Have a nice day. :)
don't you want an epohh friend!?
So basically Cryptek made getting a decent ship for free so mind numbingly long and tedious that it is easier to just give them money that they absolutely do not put back into the game -.-
I missed the chance to get the Khitomer alliance battlecruiser. It was a ship I was really looking forward to. Idk if cryptic will put a way to acquire it in the game. It’s been a while since that event has ended. But thanks for the info.
You forgot that Klingon Recruits get a T6 pretty much right off the bat.
I do find it tedious when you get something like a 40-40-40 mission so you open it and it's now a 180-120-80 mission.
waiting for 8 months now to get it exchanged for zen. still nothing. i would say its broken at that point.
@@akjackhd5804 So, why isnt my request being handeld?
6:16 I got really confused for a second there as ied just looked at when this video came out.
12:28 ok so that’s were that ship came from, I’m levelling it for its trait on an alt but I couldn’t for life of me remember we’re ied gotten it, I was sure ied not used any zen on it.
I want that ship you are flying in the video, that is epic XD
You can do anything in an upgraded T5 ship if you have a good build and, more importantly, know how to play well.
Mirror Gagarin goes pew pew pew!!!! It's a really good ship
I've spent thousands on this game the only things i will buy is the Lexington class keeping the odyssey class
These are full of great wisdom, but Be advised that this is for PC ONLY and does not address any console editions. Is there any chance you could clarify this in your tags??
you taught how to do galaxy I am now good at it I do it fro different locations to change it out I even can do it with out slipstream
Fantastic Stu thank you 🙏
So i get this right. The February Event just started? how long do i have time to get this ship then?
at the moment you have to wait ~80 days for dil to zen exchange, with 9,5 mil dil in sell
I always get back into this game JUST after they had free stuff available.
I joined the Altaholics on STO, and keep seeing pop ups for "t6 ships acquired by" and wonder what it is. Lvl 54 right now.
I can do 20K zen through grind a month if I push it and there isn't a massive backlog of Zen orders just rinse and repeat the Ferengi tour of duty admiralty boost on multiple toons, Running out of things to buy from the Zen store so grinding to do giveaways next xmas.
another great video explaining things to a newbie like myself me personally I'm no hurry to get the best stuff to get the top most powerful ships whatever even though I'm a newbie I'm taking my time playing the game and enjoying the storyline I know it's an older game but I still like the storyline in the options of doing other things I know for you veterans a lot of stuff has changed and that's why a lot of people have stopped playing it I guess would be my opinion like most games you know Star Wars Galaxy which I played for years when Sony first came out with it then it was dumbed down in my opinion I was a veteran and here comes the newbies and after a month's time not even everybody's running around with Lifesavers in the city no pre-death the point is I understand why the veterans quit cuz things change too much for them when you love a game and have compassion for it and all of a sudden these changes are made and it's not the same but overall just like Star Wars Galaxy I kept playing even though it changed because I played for myself just like this game here I actually enjoy it but I know it's not for everyone but your videos make it a lot easier to play this game and I appreciate that keep up the great work
I cant afford real world ships so this is valuable info... thanks.
Don't forget about endeavors for ec I get about 1 Mill from doing all of them give or take
So there are no quest based ships outside events, I am going to spend on the main events 50 to unlock the 2 coupons though.
would this work for the kelvin timeline enterprise as well
I think the T6 coupons are my favourite.
You only pay for it all with your lifetime. ;)
A lot of people are saying their dil never sells one exchange. Some waited 6 months.
@@DarKcS2 As it currently stands, it definitely can take a few weeks to a month to sell. And the backlog is steadily growing. And the current price is pretty much fixed at 500 Dil per Zen. Also try selling larger positions, at least 500k Dil.
I mostly am interested in the star fleet from the the voyager era. I forget that is called 😅
Love the game just think the ships are so expensive, I don't have the time or the money to buy a t6 ship or grind to get one. If they were cheaper I'd buy the ship I want and be done. Shame I didn't have this game when I was younger and had the time to grind.
I am playing the Wesley Crusher/Terran Event. Any ships on that?
lol "Winter Event" I had to turn and look at the date this was released and then just looked at it confused for a few seconds :'D
> "That's not fun for me."
My dude that grind is not fun for anyone, lol.
There has already been 3 out 5 event campaigns? wha? I only get the borg resurgence as elegible
Taking a week to exchange dil for zen is definitely broken.
Grinding Grinding and more Grinding
the problem with purchasing t6 ships on a f2p account is the ec cap of 15 million
Do I need to subscribe to do the events I'm on steam
nice
I was very confused for a sec when u said winter event are u in southern hemisphere
It's kinda funny watching my character wander around on a sunlit beach while the wind howls outside IRL :P
Can you claim these ship codes on consoles?
Is the olympic class starship free ?
Easy events and then grind the bonus for the dil
Its 8 ships IF you play PC its 5-6 for Console (no giveaway codes for us) but oure Dill Excange is not ( jet) Broken ;P
STU, yes I know working as intended but only on ONE side, therefore... it is broken..
@@gothic574 True, but we gotta grab what we can get :P
mil dps...Im happy to get 50k-95k and thats with everything epic on a T6X. how the heck do you get a mil dps? I know its done just not sure what the build is to achieve that.
More of the time 1M+ dps is done with an organized team with everyone do a specific role, tank, healer, support defuffer.........
@@MCStu ok make sense. Thank You.
Also depends on enemy density. Most missions won't give you the opportunity to deal that much damage. Usually, people hit such high numbers by playing Infected: The Conduit on Advanced or Elite, and attacking the transformers but not the generators that heal them, so they can rack up massive amounts of damage.
I think mission clear time for Japori Elite is a much better gauge of your actual combat effectiveness.
dont they have a fri ship in on of the reps?
That's a fake where you get the one that has a light bulb looking ? hull
The fake is a typo sorry
Took me a year for my last 500 exchange dil to zen
Out standing
I’m playing this game on my Xbox right now all the time how to get a free ship and upgrade
The raptor was last year 👍.
ive seen everything you need to do to get the event ships......it is not even in the same realm as simple.....
I play on PC and had DIL on the exchange for 7 months, zero buyers.
what did you have it last at, it will only sale at 500 to 1
Yikes, at that rate, it would take you almost 200 days to refine that much dilithium.
Getting my jelly fish soon…
2:56 187,5 days refining in one character. Not exactly very New player friendly.
As I said, I agree with you
1:26 I totally disagree.
My exchange amounts don't ever go through.
Fleet K6 through rep go brr
Seems like a second job just to play F2P...was looking forward to playing but you just talked me out of it, just looking for a fun F2P game that I don't have to work my butt off doing it.
Your not wrong, free to grind or pay.....
It's 264 on console
Well, here's another way: Win in one of your giveaways? :)
