we all know if we turn it on the 1st time, the machine try to connect to internet to authenticate the drive with the machine. the question is, if you remove the disc drive, play with digital only so the machine knows that no drive is connected, and put the drive back in. does it need to do the authentication again?
I watched this video and you need to register the disc drive to the machine but you have to turn off the console first and connect the disc drive to the console and turn it on. Seems you're gonna have to turn on the internet as well. I don't own a slim but hope this helps.

There are 2 small triangle stands that I missed to mentioned here. You can put it in between the side panel gap. But I think it's not really good..
