Thank you for giving me the answers to the best pub quiz that never was! I have a fantastic suggestion for a video, I just don't know what series it really belongs in: The Chaparral 2J "Fan Car". The FIA rules didn't have a limit on the number of engines a car could have, or what those engines powered. In the late 60s, teams were finally keying into the importance of down-force, with goofy, dated wings appearing above the cars. Legend Jim Hall realized (possibly from a drawing sent to him from a young boy) that no regulations prevented his team from mounting a second petrol engine in the car, which would drive 2 massive fans that would literally suck the car to the ground. To create the seal required for suction, they also designed movable side skirting which would later be revisited as the cornerstone of the 'Ground Effect Era' in the next decade. As a downside, it sucked up anything not bolted to the circuit, and could barely complete a competitive practice lap. When it did run, it won, BIG TIME. It was clear as day that if the reliability was sorted, there was no other car that could remotely compete. Predictably, with pressure from McLaren, the rules were amended at the end of the season to specifically prevent this brash chicanery and the 2J was banned from the sport. That just screams SB Nation. Did I mention it was an American team? The Fan Car concept would make a return later in the decade with BrabhamF1 running a fan concept that they eventually abandoned, while under the direction of rules breaker turned rules maker, Bernie Ecclestone! The stories of the Fan Car concepts are full of cowboy innovators, rule breakers, go-hard millionaires and brass balled drivers in one of motor racing's deadliest periods. With the f1 rule changes coming into effect in 2021, sporting a marked move away from Wings and Spoiler force and towards ultra low pressure 'Ground Effect', it would be a pretty timely video with plenty of opportunity to talk about the 2J's lasting legacy on the sport of motor racing! hips.hearstapps.com/roa.h-cdn.co/assets/17/03/1600x1149/gallery-1484851560-dsc-3916.jpg?resize=2048:*

Him to do his job instead of being childish and petty? I don't know, but it seems like a plausible guess.
The Irishpanic 🤡🤡🤡
@@MWalkah I didn't watch the movie but if it was a comedy then he definitely should have worn the Yankees hat. The guy is from Boston. He probably still has boys in his old neighborhood who wouldn't let him hear the end of it if he had worn the hat. U never know what the deal really is
Professionalism?
I'm sorry but if I'm already rich af then there would be nothing u could do to get me to wear a cowboys hat. Nothing
So..like.....like...like.....so....like.... great use of the same words guys.
If his home town is in Missouri, why would he be a NY fan anyway? He would have grown up rooting for the KC or STL
elBorrachoGuapo facts lol bandwagon
It fits with the character to be a bandwagon yankees fan
I actually thought the same thing actually, but the character is supposed to be laying low in NY. I guess also at Cardinals hat wouldn’t help that being red, because costumes designers wouldn’t like red for that scene
Pretty sure Jack Nicholson would threaten to walk off the set of The Departed if he saw the crew wearing Red Sox or Celtics apparel.
@Ryan Mucha But some of them were shot in Boston
Feels like a goddamn Seinfeld episode; actually now that I think about it the reverse _was_ a Seinfeld episode - Elaine getting booted out of Yankee Stadium because she refused to take off her Baltimore Orioles hat. But I could still see an episode where, like, Jerry doesn't get a gig or George doesn't get a job because he refuses to wear a Red Sox hat or something.
Nice reference. Great episode, especially the end.
I haven’t seen the show, but irl Jerry Seinfeld is famously a huge Mets fan so I’m not sure that would be the situation. Maybe a Phillies or Braves hat instead?
Thank you for giving me the answers to the best pub quiz that never was!
I have a fantastic suggestion for a video, I just don't know what series it really belongs in:
The Chaparral 2J "Fan Car".

I wanted Joe to wear a Saints hat... I ended up disappointed.
As a Falcons fan I'm glad he didn't.
@@davidpotter213 same lol
I love that we got to hear this story about the orange shirt again in the Falcons piece.
I would never ever wear a Patriots or Cowboy hat or gear. I respect Ben.
giants fan?
@@1990Thunderbolt Jets. So much hate for Pats. Cowboys is just general hate from the 90's.
@@GizmoMaltese understandable lmfao
I'd never wear a Fulham or QPR kit to be honest.
@@GizmoMaltese the jets hahaha ain't won since joe lol but i respect it wouldn't catch me in any other teams gear
In the 2005 french canadian movie "The Rocket" about Maurice Richard, Patrice Robitaille who plays Emile Butch Bouchard refuse to wear the Montreal Canadiens jersey directly on his skin. He's a guy from Quebec City and somehow still a fan of deceased Quebec City Nordiques, so every time he had to play scenes with the Canadiens jersey on, he wore a Nordic jersey underneath.
Can you please do a rewinder on the 2014 world cup match between Germany and Brazil
As a German, I support this notion
The 1st second has come around, and they already have 2 goals
Yeah no
@@cliff5066 And given both that a) Germany went on to win the Cup a few days later and b) Miroslav Klose scored the first goal which saw him become the greatest World Cup goal scorer in history makes it sweeter. The only sour note being that Ozil missed a chance to make it 8-0 in the dying seconds.
I doubt he'll see this but tell Joe I see him with those beautiful Air Max 1's!
Also shoutout to SB Nation for another great video.
I'm a Jets fan, and there's no amount of money you could pay me to make me wear ANYTHING Patriots
As a Steelers fan you wouldn’t catch me dead in any type of Ravens apparel
As a Yankees fan as long as I can remember, if I was famous I'd be so into the idea of wearing a Red Sox hat for people to see the lols. For free. Angry sports rivalry is stupid
When I was a kid, having your team's Starter jacket and every year, I always had a friendly bet where you would wear the other team's jearsy and hat....with your Starter jacket. It was pretty great being a 49ers fan then.
At least he's faithful to one thing in his life.
Im from Scotland and i love the mets..
Yknow LFGM
Seeing how Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo got a beef history right after they got a fight, I think that you guys should do a Kobe and Shaq beef history after what Kobe said to the media lately.
If I moved to New York, I would cheer for the Mets, Islanders, Jets, and Nets just because I'm the type of person who goes against the main crowd.
Good thing The Nets are way better then the Knicks.
Mets and Jets yes. Rangers and Knicks tho.
Nets have 3 superstars and are better than the knicks even non New Yorkers cheering for them😂😂
"he read the daredevil script" SAVAGE
2:03 you can see he is secretly a Redsox fan by the hat he is wearing.
Obviously, the character would wear a Cardinals hat and not a Yankees hat.
He got paid millions AND STILL didn't wear the hat
He was basically trying to protect his image, even with the amount of money he recieved, Red Sox fans would absolutely destroyed him if he wore a Yankees hat
To be fair, Afleck's character moved to New York from Missouri. If anything, it would make more sense to wear a SL Cardinals hat.
I've never disagreed with SB to this degree. I side with Affleck. He was taking a stand. It is wonderfully romantic to not betray your team even for the sake of a movie. And, in cinema history, this is but a minor quibble between a star and a director.
It's sad how people think sports is real life and invest so much time in money just to support a bunch of millionaires playing a game to make a bunch of billionaires more rich
How the fk can you let that effect anything in real life. Absolutely sad existence
@@deusvult6920 Why did you leave your comment as a reply to mine? The two have nothing to do with each other.
@@EnoVarma oh gosh it's got the dumb. It can't see how talking about people not wanting "to betray their team" is "wonderfully romantic" is the very meaning of what I'm saying
@@deusvult6920 Maybe, but I think this has more to do with your communication lacking. And anyway, my point laid elsewhere.
@@EnoVarma na you're just big dum
If the guy is from Boston and he is deep into that irish culture thing, then i understand him. Me, as an argentine, i have the view that irish people are very passionate about their teams as we are.
Jack Nicholson did the same thing by refusing to wear a RedSox hat
I believe he refused to wear a Boston Celtics hat for The Departed, him being a huge LA Lakers fan. The compromise was a Boston Red Sox hat.
I totally understand this fight, you wouldn't catch me dead in a dodger's hat.
Lmao come on that's hilarious. And a dude from NYC wearing a Red Sox cap is honestly more interesting character-wise
I mean, if I had the money to never need to work another day in my life if I meter my savings you wouldn't be able to convince me to do anything for money. I think that's a much more accurate description of the thought process one of the most successful actors of the modern era than, "I, a guy who still needs to work for a living, will unsurprisingly do something for money."
It's a heated rivalry, it shows he's not just a plastic fan and doesn't just like "Boston" things to get people from the city to like his movies more. He has his convictions and he's sticking to them, I can respect that.
Did Mike Imhoff decide to grow his mountain man beard to fit in at his job at Yellowstone?
"He read the script for Daredevil"
Excellent burn.
...But shouldn't Affleck's character wear a Cardinals hat?
"I'm a Missourian."
Oh God I got chills when he put on that Boston hat
I wouldn't wear one either. Wow this guy sold out his team for 8 bucks, nice.
Bombour he’s a fan OF the team, not a player ON the team - too many people forget this crucial detail
“We won!” 🤦♂️
You either stand for something or nothing, more players care about the money then the logo, that's why players hardly stick with the same franchise their whole careers when fans stay lifelong fans.
Normally I love this channel but the comment about no one liking Affleck as Batman is way off base. Sure most people hated the movies he was in, but his performance was never the issue. A lot of people would say that he was the best part of BvS
“I would hate to wear a Red Sox hat but I would do it for like eight dollars”.
Um so you don’t really hate it :)
Any real sports fan doesn't wear their rival's gear, regardless of money they can receive
One that was not the proper Boston accent, 2 batfleck was one of the better Batmans? Batmen?
Beef History- Stan Kronke vs Vince McMahon
Much respect to Affleck. I would have barfed all over my date had I ever seen him in a Y cap.
"I'm kinda mean" You already said that with your first hat in the video
If i ever move to New York i'll become a Mets fan along with the sox
Lol
This is basically the scene of Matt Damon (wearing a Red Sox hat) and George Clooney (wearing a Yankees hat) fighting on the train from Oceans 12.
what did you guys do with the real Seth?
Billy Crystal wore a Mets cap for nearly the entire duration of the movie “City Slickers” and Ben Affleck can’t even wear a Yankee cap for 5 seconds.
He’s supposed to be from Missouri. Sooooo maybe a Royals or Cardinals hat?
Dude will the Capri pants and near/sockless look = holy crap ain't nobody gonna accuse you of toxic masculinity
I hate the Red Sox, but I can respect Ben on this. I'm not wearing a rivals hat, T-shirt or anything.
He’s not wearing the Yankees hat for money. He’s doing the movie for money. He will get paid whether he wears it or not. They arent gonna get another actor. He knows that and he’s making sure he doenst have to wear a Yankees hat
I'm with Ben on that one. Our gen take our sport rivalries serious. No way in hell could you get a longhorn hat on me.
Yup,. My team may suck right now but I will never wear a Yankees or Red Sox hat, let alone, touch it.
