How Much Money do I REALLY Need to Start as a Beginning Trader?

What is the minimum that you need to invest in the stock market? What is the minimum that you need to trade? I get this question all the time from so many people who are hungry for success, but they don't necessarily have a lot of money. The good news is, you are in luck. What I teach is ideal for people with small accounts.
In fact, I actually go back and trade with a small account of $12,000 every single year. That's what I started with. I know that's more than most people have. That's as low as I can go.
If you only have $100, I would say save up. Walk your neighbor's dog, deliver some papers, borrow some money from some friends or family. You need at least $500 to open up an account with E-Trade, and in order to short sell, to bet on lower stock prices, which is very good when you're betting against scams, which is one of my strategies, you need a minimum of 2,000.
Anywhere between 500 and 2,000 gets you in the game. Ideally, you do start small. Even if you have like 50,000 or 100,000, I would encourage you to start smaller so that you can practice. The money that you make or lose in the first three or six or even nine months of your stock trading or stock investing career won't matter in the long run. It's about learning the right habits, learning the right process, learning how to lose small. If you have, you know, $500, and you're a true stock market beginner, like, you need to learn how to lose like $20 or $10 on a trade rather than, like, getting all in your ego like some people do.
Even if you do have a little money but you're still not comfortable trading, you can paper trade. Use stockstotrade.com. It's a website. You can basically use fantasy cash, so you're not risking your hard-earned cash, and that way, you're practicing trading, you're practicing investing while learning.
Big things have small beginnings. So don't feel bad. There's gonna be a lot of negativity. Your friends, your family, everyone's gonna say don't throw your money in the stock market. There's a lot of people who are bitter, and they're bitter because they don't have knowledge. They don't have training. I wanna try to help them, and I wanna try to help you. Show them this video. Show them all my videos. This is why I love teaching. I'm getting good information out there, because I never had a teacher. I'm entirely self-taught, and that was good and bad. It was good because I learned the hard way, so the lessons really stuck, but it was bad because it took a lot longer than it should.
So, my goal is to be the mentor to you that I never had, and if you have a few hundred dollars, if you have a few thousand dollars, get ready to watch a lot of my videos, because I teach everything. So, stay up at night, you know, study on weekends. You're gonna have to study at times that you won't necessarily want to. Get ready to study harder than you ever thought possible, if you wanna become my next millionaire student. Otherwise, if you wanna remain poor or broke or ignorant, then don't study.*

Just been trying to get thru this hurdle but I found if I don't buildequity in myself no one will help you change your future but you. I've opened all the necessary to start to trade, I've been watching a couple video too and the only thing i don't understand is all the big stuff like grafic drawing to understand the market or where to find the" tick" to start to invest.. Until this month I thought about those times where I didn't want to study, but should. But now it's more like I'm hurrying through my 9-5 job to get home early to start cueing up more training. Just realizing what an invariable treasure trove of knowledge I have access to, and it's all I can think about now. Hell yeah.

The single most challenging thing about becoming a profitable trader has to be one's ability to combat FOMO and trade strictly with a gameplan and not break rules. You can be really strong in the knowledge department in a year but if you cant consistently follow your gameplan and only stick to your main patterns youre never going to be profitable for more than 3 months.

The minimum IMO would be $2000 otherwise commission will kill you. Study for months first then start to paper trade in your broker until youre profitable first! Keep in mind itll take you months to 2 years for it to click if you REALLY study your butt off. Then start taking small positions with real money. Good luck!!!

This video actually helps alot with my motivation for understanding the stock market. I dont have alot of money but im starting to study alot about the stock market. knowing that the first year of trading a trader doesn't profit that much helps calm me.
Time to start saving money, be patient, study study study, and prepare prepare prepare . Wanting to get into penny stocks and it’s great to have access massive amounts of free research (can’t thank you enough Tim) made me realize how poorly my money is used. Huge wake up call cause I can’t afford to be buying his books,dvds,signing up on profitly, stockstotrade or signing up with a broker. you get the picture. I don’t make a lot of capital to start out in this game. I respect him a lot for giving out this useful free information to prepare me for what’s coming and so I don’t get overwhelmed all at once. anyone who watches all of your videos knows that the amount is around $3k-5K. but what you are talking about is learning with just $500 to get your winning rate up to about 50-60% then going roughly 40% in on a trade with a $3k account but with a mental stop lost at a low price. so if it goes against you. you only lose a small amount. you must learn the rules and learn how to follow the rules. that is the reason why tim say learn with $500. because at that level your losses are manageable.

Anybody could start trading with $12,000. Ross Cameron started with $582 even though he had 6 to 1 leverage which is nothing given the starting point, but in only two years that small account is at about $600,000 or something, let's see if this clown can do that!
@@xAntoinexVideos think about what you just said. Using 6 to 1 leverage and surviving is luck because any trade could have blew him up. Jesse Livermore comes to mind.

Just go online and do a search for stock traders who used Leverage and look at the devastation it causes. To think otherwise would insinuate that a person can control what happens in the market. On Any Given trade something can go wrong. It could be manipulation, world events, etc.

Tim, for E-Trade, not even worth trying with cash under $1,000 as of a couple weeks ago. E-Trade just updated their app and cuts you off from live streaming data with under $1,000 in the account. So I can't dip buy and morning panic right 😬😬😬🤬!!

I did a few trades on E*Trade Pro and immediately decided to go elsewhere. The order placement interface is terrible for speed trading. You can barely do anything with the hotkeys. But I love the charting and overall interface so I'm keeping 1k in there just for that LOL
ThinkOrSwim is a quality platform compared to E*Trade and has better order placement interface options. I hate the charting and overall interface compared to E*Trade though. I hear TD Ameritrade has better executions than E*Trade as well, which is important for momentum plays. ThinkOrSwim/TD is great just because you get so much for free without account minimums. It also comes with free paper trading and you can even "replay" historical trading days from the past and literally paper trade the exact price action that occured any time in the past, atleast that Ameritrade saved data for (not sure how many years back they saved it). They really care about helping traders with their software a lot more than E*Trade in my opinion. Too bad ToS makes my eyes bleed.
I was going to go with them after TradeStation software (potentially even better than DAS Trader for order control) ran like shit on my system and they weren't helping me with that, but once I realized there was a good offshore choice (CMEG) instead of evil SureTrader, I decided that's the way to go. Unlike SureTrader CMEG has a good reputation. There are serious advantages for small accounts offshore. You can have margin without PDT below 25k equity, so I can recycle my equity multiple times per day as long as I'm not losing. And it has DAS Trader, arguably one of the best platforms for serious daytraders. But it's $150 a month for DAS. After all the hassle I've had dealing with shitty platforms and being limited to 1 equity cycle per 2 days which forces you to try to wait to snipe only the best of the best setups (even though the shittier ones are still predictable, just lower % gains), I decided fuck it, I'm willing to spend 2 workdays of income per month to be able to short sell and do tons of trades per day and do it on my dream software.
Margin accounts are amazing because you can keep trading unlimited amounts of times as long as you're not losing money. As soon as you exit your position your buying power that you used is restored. This is ideal for me, since my chosen style of trading is quick scalps. I'm not trying to spend hours, days, weeks looking for the magic setup. I see predictable minute to minute price action many times per day. Sure, maybe you can't get more than 5-10%, and there's not enough volume to support more than a $300-2000 profit per trade without slippage (hot stock for the day, but not always massive volume at any given moment), but why would I care if I'm only playing with $1,000 to $3,000 baby positions?

When you say Tim G started with 1500 "of his own money" that's misleading. Truly how he grew his account to millions was using 8,000. It doesn't matter that he got it from his parents, that's what he used. I'm sure you would agree, no reason to hype, you da bomb.
On the contrary he used $8k from his parents just to open the accounts, he never used it for his trades...and now those same brokers have lower minimums so the $ he used to borrow to open an account is irrelevant...its fun when you dig into the facts and there's NOTHING misleading whatsoever
