Correct, the Dark Paladin in the US/EU releases drives an ASL Garaiya instead. Also, there were rims in the Japanese release that were removed too (Racing Sparco and Speedline Corse), every opponent with those rims used Advan AVS rims instead.
I find it ironic how this game has drift in its title but doesn't acutally feature any drift gameplay 😂 still, a game that's all about touge is right up my ally

How does the handling compare to txr3?
it's MUCH better in my opinion. TXR3 felt a bit too loose to me. TXRD2, especially with a wheel, feels almost like a simulator, it's really good.
