@@VITOSGARAGE replaced injection nozzles with monarch nozzles, replaced the rack dapper bolt with the upgraded gold one. Did a compression test and all the cylinders were within tolerance according to the manual.
You also need to make sure the injectors are spraying wel and releasing at the right pressure. Valve adjustment is another thing to consider, diesel purge and filters.
I ended up replacing the whole injection pump, plus all the injectors. It helps most of the issue. Still has mild shake but I’ll work it out with the pin
Very nice W116 reminds me of my 1980 300SD I had the same color combo Black/Black. I miss it a lot… :(
I hope you can fix the shaking idle. My 79 300SD has the same issue an I have not been able to fix it. It is annoying when sitting at a stop light.

I had the same problem and used diesel purge, it got a little better then I let it sit for a few months and now it's gone.

It’s called Fluid Film. I use that + wheel bearing grease👍
It seems to leave a brown residue… Does that stay visible ?
