I hope to god this movie gets a sequel.
I really hope for more non-human main characters in future D&D products, the prosthetics and practical designs of characters are great and need to make a comeback ^_^
This is one of the best films that have been released recently, not counting *Puss in boots 2* It's a pity that it didn't pay off at the box office, but I really believe in the guys. The universe is huge and with such an approach as they have, everything will definitely work out
It wasn't even playing in most theaters afaik ... how is it supposed to make box office ?
This movie really impressed me. Especially the wildshape "one take" action sequence near the middle of the film.
John Francis Daley is the shit. Who knew that lil boy from Freak and Geeks would go on to be a badass blockbuster DND director!?!?!?
I have never played D&D. I watched Honor Among Thieves knowing little abiut the game and can't wait to play it now. I have the Player's Handbook and am pestering a friend to DM for me. Have been obsessed with D&D content on youtube. I wish I had given it a chance sooner
Welcome to the hobby! It's a wonderful game and hope you have a great time
@@zainbusse3725 Hey, thanks a lot! :)
I hope in the next sequel that elves and drow elves are slowly introduced and are put as cameos. Or slowly introduced Mystra's chosens.
When I heard the FCG comments I turned to my friend, who was also a CR fan and I said in the theater, "Hey CR reference!", he turned to me and said, "Nah, coincidence." I feel so vindicated now lol.
I think it represented the D&D world quite well. I loved how much it depends on the law ❤
I'm not usually into movies like that, but honestly it was really enjoyable.
Excellent effort!
Based on my experience with prior D&D films, I was deeply sceptical. But the film turned out to be a hoot! If you are a proper D&D geek, like yours truly, or even if you just know the setting from games like Baldur’s Gate or Neverwinter Nights, you are well entertained. I watched it with my family, and it was clear that their experience wasn’t quite the same as mine, so I guess it does help that you know something of the universe. It’s too bad that it didn’t do better - I hope it will become a cult classic 😊
I love the idea of book 1 just being a good story, book 2 being expanding and exploring the world, book 3, the end game big battle. That feels like it wouldn't drag in the middle for a trilogy.
Really loved this movie
We loved the movie. We are very much looking for the BluRay so we can stop scenes and see all the stuff we missed.
Beholder!!! Please make it Xanathar!
I found the overweight dragon massively hilarious, I definitely failed my save vs 'Hideous Laughter'.
His name is Themberchaud, and he is one of the regular NPCs that belong to the Forgotten Realms setting. Give him a google, I believe he’s got quite a backstory 😊
I've heard mixed reactions. Was Time Stop 'an aoe' in a previous editions before 5e?
Yup - it was in AD&D. But not since 5th ed.
3.5e as well
I was so upset to see John Francis Daley's characyer as Sweets die on Bones because he was going to be a director...I now fully understand it was his calling 🤩
I was fine with most of the movie, but Chris Pine's character was not a very good bard. Was anybody else bothered by him using his Lute as a melee weapon or just me? I didn't mind the druid using a sling shot. Having the characters from the cartoon appear was pretty awesome. I was hoping to see Hank the Ranger get a shot off and see what his bow's energy bolts would look like. It would be a cool in a sequel to have Venger and Tiamat. The chonky dragon was a great adversary in this movie. What a unique way of doing a dragon battle.
That is Lord Thembershaud to you lol he is a big part of the campaign my group was playing when the trailer dropped and I lost it.
Never played D&D..
I am a serious moviegoer...
Have seen the movie a few times in the cinema...
Everyone in the audience had a great time... It was simply a fun adventure movie , with a nice touch of emotion..

... though like it or not, the “ emasculating ‘ entertainment article was not any help at all in getting people into the cinema to see this...😕

Only issue was the boring, everyone wearing rags and the world being a big pile of dirt, plot trope inconsistency first half of the movie
to sit through that just to experience a couple handfuls of cool moments which are randomly introduced...
LIke the last Guardians movie - it was just a meme joke mosaic (and they gave each one too much air time) ... instead of a solid plot movie like 1&2 .
It really kills the whole thing when it is formulaic.
One thing about D&D nerds is they have read the best fiction writers. They won't support anything less.
But studios won't gamble on anything but the boring approach.
... AND here we are watching or listening to people play D&D at a table because it is infinitely more fun than formula everything ... oh and not having to pay for pop culture references so you can actually think without censorship is wonderful as well.
How's Willy Wonka? Is there irony in the topic "honor among thieves"...
I preferred the original D&D movie. Cause the original felt like how me and my friends play D&D. It also felt like how a party might stumble onto a plot and have to deal with the situation. This was an okay movie but having the characters doing things they shouldn’t have been able to do according to the rules detracted from my enjoyment.
Finally the accurate and mindful marketing... that isn't Frankfurt marxism pretending to be diversity when actually campy divisiveness
Should have been this way since the beginning.
I'm apprehensive... It's not the first time they tried this. Lovely movie, but, the "Produsers!" might be just that... Not caring at all about the story.
Hopefully the next sequel doesn't become more WOKE!!! Don't be like bud light and disney. Sheeesh!!! Companies now a days still don't learn.
