@@goldenmemes51 The Jews have lived in Israel since 1000 BCE. The Romans conquered in 70CE and called it Palestine based on the Philistines. Islam dates from the 6th Century! There are 32 Muslim states and one tiny Jewish State. Anyone who denies these facts denies three major religions, Judaism, Christianity ( Jesus was a Jew went to the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem) and Islam ( in the Koran it says clearly that Palestine was given to Banu Israel). British Mandated Palestine included Israel and Jordan. Jordan got 85% and Israel got 15%! When Jordan ruled the “West Bank” from 1948 to 67 why didn’t they create a Palestinian State? There wasn’t even talk about it. And finally a reward of $100,000 has been offered to anyone who can name a Muslim leader of a state called Palestine in the history of the world! Can you?

ok. so after reading some of the comments i want to clarify.
so the greater metropolitan area of Gush Dan is indeed 4.3 million people. however it includes a lot of different independent cities each with its own city administration departments.
the city of Tel Aviv-Yafo which is the most central one has only about 435 thousand people.
and yes, compered to most metropolitan areas around the world it is fairly well packed and quite dense, some 9 thousand people per square kilometer.

Israel is easy to get around in, though for the first time visitor you should have a guide. Stay away from the packaged tours as they only show the major sites and they rush you through the day. A private guide will go at your pace, take you to what you want to see, and recommend a few sites you don't know about. A private guide is more expensive, so go with friends and relatives to share the cost.
Hotels may offer a choice of a bed and breakfast rate or a room and board rate. Room and board includes dinner, but there are too many great restaurants in Israel for you to take all your meals at the hotel. Get the bed and breakfast rate.

If you are planning to visit Isreal, here are 5 tips from a local:
1:Get out of TLV! there are fantastic beaches within a 15 min drive to the north and south of the city.
2:Ditch the Clichés - visit a Kibbutz - for example, Na`an in the mid-south of the country, to get a grasp of the real local vibe.
3:Make sure to visit the Golan heights - it`s a unique place and landscape. As is the Dead Sea.
4:Tour the area of Beit- Shemesh and Beit Goverin - for some great views and interesting history.
5:DON`T take the locals too seriously. The humour in Israel is mostly based on banter, whether cynical or sarcastic, it`s part of the culture, and most people are warm-hearted, friendly and mean well.

Don't trust everything you see in the media, and don't inflict it on all Israelis (or other groups for that matter). The media loves the extremes. Until you'll see for yourself, I promise you people here come in peace and are very warm and inclusive. Not every single Israeli of course, but the absolute most of us.
