- Only in July Transcend revealed their first body camera - clip on recorder that records for up to 3 hours and is targeted towards police, security, customs etc. And now I finally got time to test it and share my thoughts on the device. Enjoy!

Hi can you plug the SD card into a chromebook and edit videos that way or do you need to connect the whole unit by usb cable? Thanks
The Boblov PD50 which is less than half the price of this one records better footage according to me. What do you think?
Is there a set up DVD with this unit. I seem to be ''missing'' some kit in the box. ( Oh yes, I bought one ) As in ...I want to set it up & format the Mini SD card. Nice vid by the way.
Thanks. Both software and manual is best to get from Transcend site. Once installed on PC just connect the unit and do the basic config.
How do you set the audio sample rate in the online manual it says there should be a option on the software for it but there isn't .
I'm trying to find this option to see if it would fix my voice being louder then the other person on the other side of the camera . I could barely hear anyone talking to me I have to crank up the volume and if I do that when ever I talk it blows up the speakers almost . I have the 10B by the way
Your suggestions for flashlight, which you will probably need at night. This might affect the inrared light. Also the suggestion for a cradle, that means they would probably have to remove the cover for USB and MicroSD, which would affect the waterproofing.
Flashlight if done properly would not cause IR to power on. As for cradle the unit would need to be redesigned. If you have a look at Motorola handheld scanners for instance - they are waterproof and charge docked. The docking solution is very robust as well.
@@Edsdrafts Hey bro nice video. Does this happen to have an option to record date and time stamp or is there another like it you know of that does around the same price range...
Lastly though I'd thought I'd seek out your expertise because I"m faced with a difficult task at the moment but I'm trying to come up wiht ideas on how to use one of these body cams on my person with it being more unoticable. Thanks again.
I believe there are options for time stamp, yes.
As for discrete recording - if your law permits there is an option but I found it hard to use unless you use the app on your phone.
Can it be charged while recording? Say I want to connect a portable battery to it in my pocket so it will last longer. My current body cam turns off when you plug it up and it's very inconvenient
Hello I have one of these and have had great luck with it. Now I'm getting a lot of bad video files that start but at sometime during playing the video stop at some point. I have tried various high quality micro sd cards , could it be a defective camera? Do you know what the warranty period for these units are? Thanks for the video
Hi. In Europe warranty is 2 years but you would need to engage the manufacturer directly. If under 1 year - check with the shop.

No it would not as it would be missing important features. Also - Transcend does very good dashcams that I have also reviewed.

What I hate is that they always put the clip of these pocket cams on the back, so you have to let it dangle around outside, instead of having it inside the pocket with just the lense sticking out. Would be great, if the clip was reversable to both sides.

when you charged the cam how do you know the battery its fully charged?
"A solid orange LED light of the warning indicator is visible while charging. The LED light will turn off when fully charged." You can find full manual on their website in multiple languages.

I bought the Angin -Teck Infra red can from Amazon. Not Happy with it!!! Has several issues. Re battery falling out. I also CAN NOT find where the Micro SD card is located. The instructions are basic & printed so small one needs a magnifying glass to read them.

Man that's really really unfortunate. I was right about to purchase it but the 3 minute segments are a HUGE negative to the point that I no longer want it. Thanks for the info. Good video.
+dustin shipskie how is that unfortunate? Every camera splits one way or the other. Most have 2-4GB limits.

As per Transcend manual itself it states "One video file is saved for every 3 minutes of recording." I don't know where are you getting your figures from.
It makes no sense to split it so often as it introduces unnecessary overhead for file size and its virtually unwatchable. Never mind stitching issues that can occur when the files are created so often.
I would stay clear of any camera that splits files in less than 1 minute segments.

You didn't say much about the sound. How is the audio? It's hard to tell with the clips. Nobody is really talking.
Audio is ok but nothing amazing. If unsure - connect good headphones to my video sample and have a good listen.
If you need decent audio for film production or something like that you might want to have external audio recorder like Tascam or Zoom that I reviewed and ideally with dedicated mic. Eg. your subject walking with camera clipped on and with audio recorder in back pocket wired to lavalier mic. Hope this helps.

+Les Williams time/date can be set by connecting to PC using DrivePro Body Toolbox software. If I am not mistaken it automatically takes the time once first time connected.
I thought so too. But it's PM when it's actually AM. Tried rebooting but the same.
Les Williams check your Windows date/time and zone settings. Try doing automatic update and check again.
Can you charge this with a USB adapter to auto cigarette lighter? Wall charger? Thanks
You can charge this device like any USB powered one - from laptop, wall charger, car to USB charger etc.
How do you know the USB adapter (via cigarette lighter) is the correct voltage / amps etc. Thanks
Bobby John voltage will be correct as all USB devices use 5V, as for Amps, usually you get up to 2A per USB depending on device. Avoid inexpensive no name ones and you will be fine.
So the voltage output on the USB on any computer is 5v? Thank again.

Hi. I believe you need to install their software on Windows PC. You can modify it there.

Sure did - connect it to your PC and you will have an option for it.

Managed to fix the time as well. it needed a upgrade

great review but please note , Transcend Body 10 makes everything look Purple and Yellow making this body camera useless for professional work
Not sure of color reproduction as I did not focus on this myself. It is more intended for security and officers. Accurate color is not really needed, even b&w would be acceptable.
Idiotically placed diode informing about recording? How do I know if I've turned on recording if I don't see the LED? I have to take the camera off to see it...the diode must be at the top!!!! Otherwise the camera is useless!!!
I'd want the videos to be one video. Not 3 minute segments of a video that's possibly an hour long. That's just WAY too much of a hassle and is not practical for professional use in any way shape or form. That would mean if it was subpoenaed I'd have to put all the files into a folder from the one incident and hope I got them all. My current body camera doesn't do that. It records it all in one video not in segments. Maybe if it would break them down into hour segments or something that would be fine but 3 minute is just ridiculous.
+dustin shipskie I see. I never saw it as an issue myself as joining them in Adobe Premiere is very easy. I'm sure there's some free software that does just that.
+Eds drafts I'd much rather it just record as one segment. It's just much easier that way for storage. Being an LEO I have to keep my videos for 7 years so if they need to be used in court they can be subpoenaed. So if all my videos are in segments like that it's just extremely inconvenient. I really appreciate the video though. Thank you

Sorry but I don't have it anymore. I believe the only option was 1 or 3 minutes and will it loop or not. These were the options.

how can they sell such crap? no stabilizer, pathetic battery..
+k. Julian I am not selling it, I am reviewing it. It is your choice at the end of the day. Stabilization is ok for camera being on the body that constantly moves all directions when walking or running. Battery is better than GoPro, that's for sure. I am not saying product is perfect but it is a good attempt.

Unfortunately it's not great. Good idea, bad implementation. I believe they have new one released since though.
Not very helpful with the set up on a desktop.
