Some people are so negative. If the video was beneath them, then just move on. I just started working from home and this video told me exactly how to hook up two monitors to my tower. THANK YOU!
Thank you. Can't please everyone I guess. Expectations and knowledge is different as well so no bad feelings.
Glad could help. Best of luck.
@@Edsdrafts hi Ed
What if I wanted to use an extra laptop? Could I still use this same docking station and hopefully just press a button to alternate between the two?
They are just TROLLS with no social life !
I just started watching and I’m hoping he explains it like he is talking to a 5 year old lol
Just started at Dell and I was so confused by the dock. This video made set up SO SIMPLE! Thank you!
This video helped me immensely when I got this same set up for Work At Home earlier this year. The same computer I have had at my job for 5 years finally called it quits. Thank you so much for making these tutorials.
This video was so helpful it’s unreal. I spent the last 3 hours searching for something like this. Well explained. So clear. I’ve ordered all the cables I need now. Thank you! You are literally the best
This was the best and foremost the best learning experience I had found on RUclips today. Very professional coordinated from point A to point B. I looked over for this setup. I would like to take a moment and say thank you so much. Job well done.
I know you did this video a few years ago. I just was sent 2 monitors and a docking station (Dell) and had no clue how to set it up. You simplified the procedure and very methodically showed me how to set this up. I am so grateful, thank you so much for making this tutorial.
Thank you very much for the detailed explanation. You just saved a ton of headaches and stress. I'm here helping my wife set up two monitors and 1 laptop. Thanks a million! 👌🏽👍🏽😎
So well explained. Out of all the tutorials this was one of the few I could follow. The windows +p trick fixed my problem instantly!
Awesome video! simple, easy to understand, straight to the point.
This is a beautifully produced, very easy to follow tutorial. I am very appreciative.
I had to go thru 3 videos to find this one. Everything was so easy to understand and you had exactly what I have so that made it perfect. Thank you
Bless you. I’m exhausted and just moved to a new house and was trying to figure this out on my own and had way over complicated it. This was so helpful and straightforward.
Thank you! This video was so simple and helpful! I spent an hour trying to figure out what wires went where haha this video helped me set it up instantly (:
Hi. You are welcome, thanks for the kind words.
Thank you very much for the directions. This video was made for me, I am not computer savvy but this was explained in a way that I could understand.
I am connecting to Mac machine and it is not allowing me to extend the two monitors
Super easy to follow, many thanks for streamlining my setup 😊
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! It was worth to wait until the end because that was the part I was looking for. 🥰🥰🥰
I got the solution I was looking for!! Thank you SOOOOOO much!! Keep up the good work, you are appreciated.
Thank you Liz, glad could help.
OmG this is what I was looking for! Well explained! Thanks so much!
Very helpful, descriptive and loved the visual. Thanks for making this video. Helped a lot.
OMG listen you save my nerves !!! Omg I’m so thankful for you !! Suppppper helpful, definitely sharing with my group tomorrow!!! ❤️
Simple and easy to understand ! Job well done !
This is the EXACT WFH set up i was sent. Thank you!!😊
Thank you so much! Been at it all weekend and finally got it set up
Really useful I have been working the whole year with the laptop open, because did not know how to display the second screen only xD Thank you!!
You are welcome. Once you have laptop on charger default settings are to stay on and display on external monitor if one is connected. Without power it goes to sleep by default.
This was the only video that helped me. Thank you!!!
Last part of the video really help. Could not figure out how to set up my screen the way I wanted!
Thank you! The Windows +P fixed my displays to what I needed.
This videos help to setup the workstation for my hubby~~~thanks!
Thank you very much! Appreciate your step by step instructions!
You are welcome Colleen, glad you found the video useful.

Thanks 😊 I was struggling. First time working from home and needed help. Stayed on hold 30 minutes
Hi. Glad I could help. I can imagine, hence the video.
This is my exact setup at work, nice!
Just what I needed, thumbs up !
Thank you so much. Your video was a great help for me today.
This video is EXACTLY what I needed! This is my first time setting a home office. One question, what do I need to do to be able to close the laptop & keep the screens active?
Hi. Once the laptop is charging you can close the lid to keep image on external monitors.
Have a look at my next video, towards the end, I have some tips on screen layout etc.
Incredibly helpful video, thanks a lot!!😄
Thanks Danelle. Glad could help.
Really nice vid. Helped me a lot!
Thank you so much. This was very helpful!

Thank you! I got my monitors working 😃
Very well Explained.. Appreciate.. Thank you.
I'm contemplating buying a new Dell 3880 computer, which cables would I need to hook up 2 monitors which you demonstrated, could you reiterate in slow motion the cables name and where exactly do they hook up. Thank you very much.
This is how a video should be ! Thanks
thank you, thank you so much for this video! i needed it
Wow! Great video ❤️
Thank you sooo much !!!! This vidio is exactly what I needed ❤
Me also
Me too :)
Great video!!!! Saved my life.
I got the same type of dell dual screen PC set-up for Christmas.
Thank you so much ! Appreciate
thanksthis was so helpful!!
Hi Pratik. You are welcome, glad you found it helpful.
Thank you! Very helpful.
I am going to attempt this tomorrow… I’m in a new job, and am 68, so cables make me nervous! Thank you!
Hi. How did it go? Always involve IT where you need them as well, that's their job after all. Kudos for staying strong and working away.
This helped so much
I have these exact same monitors. Exact same setup but it’s RGB Gaming backlight, keyboard mouse and mouse pad.
Made it easy!! Thank you!!
Hello, I have a quick question. I was able to set everything up but when I push the power button, it’s doesn’t turn anything on. Any idea why this is happening?
great training video. what DP port cables did you use to connect to the docking station?? I have dual AW3418DW and only have DP & HDMI ports.
Thanks for the video. I have a Dell precision 3550 and I am trying to run 3 external monitors. Do you know if that is possible with the docking station ?
Thanks for the help!!!!
Thank you! Have the exact equipment. Great stuff 💯✨👍
Thanks for your tutorial anyway.
I needed this, thanks alot. I am not sure, but might have missed the ethernet cable.
Hi Nicole. You are most welcome. Yes, I did not cover it as unfortunately I don't use it myself but yes - ideally do use the cable connection for best quality. This is especially important and helpful for video and voice calls or any other real time interaction eg. Citrix, GoToMyPC etc.
This is perfect!
Mines a bit different great video mine just has extra steps that I'm unsure about with extra cords.
Thanks for the video. I am still a little lost because I got different cables. They gave me one cable per monitor: one cable is the DisplayPort and the other is a USB 3.0 to USB A. How the heck do I manage this? I’ve tried all combos and haven’t gotten it to work.
That is one helluva beautiful cat 😍
That he is 😌 And he knows it 😅
I also have a display cord, only one of my 2 monitors are displaying. Please help.
*How do I find if laptop can support 2x 4K dell monitor?* The laptop is “dell latitude 5430.” Will it support 2 4k dell monitor without the dock? I would rather connect 1 monitor via USB-C and 1 via hdmi.
Thank you!!!! Life saver!!
I have this exact set up at home and I’m following every tutorial but my screens keep saying no signal!! Does anyone know why this might be?!
Thank you very much! I loved your instructions. They were very detailed and explaining everything well. It really helped me set up my WFH setup. So much better. I just noticed that my color isn’t as bright on the first monitor. Is that Normal?
Hi. Try resetting both monitors to factory defaults via on monitor menu.
Always thought separate power needs to be set up for each split monitor, good to know 2 less cables to be used!
All good. Thanks!
since you have usb B port on the monitor, I would reccomend connect all your pheriferals to the monitor. The Dell Dock only has little USB B port so I would like to keep thos on the dock as free as possible
What if i don’t have a laptop, where do i connect the last cable to
Awesome review! Do you remember how these compare to the Lenovo Thinkvision P27H-10 you reviewed around 3 years ago?
Thanks. They are good but nothing exiting. 1080p 60Hz, standard really. No USB-C, not 1440p panels, colour probably a bit worse etc. But for the price - solid buy if 1080p is enough.
@@Edsdrafts nicee thanks much!
Thank you so much. Well explained, I got it and did it.
Super helpful video!! I have 1 question though… Am I able to connect 2 monitors to the doc with an hdmi splitter? Or would I need the hdmi to display port? Thank you
Hi. Definitely use DP to HDMI for one and just HDMI for another. HDMI splitters are usually just duplicating the signal.
Thank you so much for this! I was able to set up the equipment and everything was fine for a about a month then suddenly I lost my dual monitor connection. I got a new docking station thinking the other one blew out but I’m still having this same issue. Any idea what could be wrong? The docking station is not turning when I connect, not even manually, but I can still my phone from the C port.
Hi. Saw this issue on few laptops before, it can be simply damaged USB Type C port on the laptop. This unfortunately happens as this type of port is just not robust enough for daily use. You can log an RMA ticket with laptop manufacturer if you still have warranty for it. Provided there is no visible damage they should fix it.
Thank you so much!! This helped me a lot!
You are welcome, glad it did.

Hello @eds drafts....sir I have MSI gf65 laptop but I faced lots of issue to setup dual monitor....so can you help with that.....how can I do that....
One other question, do I need to purchase a Dell Docking Port to make this work? or can I just use the 3 cables that come with the 2nd monitor?
Hi. Good question. I just made a video about this. Have a quick look on my channel, I believe there is also a quick link right at the beginning of this one.
Hi,
First, thanks for the video. I have a Precision 7550 with the Dell Thunderbolt Dock - WD19TB
I saw in your video the bit locker on the monitors. On my setup it always pops up the bitlocker on the laptop screen and I am not able to use the keyboard plugged into the dock just the laptop built in keyboard. So I have to open the lid or keep it open. Do you know the solution?
Thanks
Z
Hi Zoltan. You are right, it is a pain. I did look into it previously, something to do the way Thunderbolt / USB-C works and Bitlocker security requirements. It would be a BIOS setting to change this which you have to be very careful about.
Knowing what you doing and doing this on your own device might be fine (having backed up all data) but if it is a company laptop I would recommend to stay away from any changes in BIOS. Unless your IT does it for you of course.
Hi Zoltan,
I have done some testing on WD19 dock and Dell 5410 laptop. Here's what I found.
When your external keyboard connected to dock does not work quick reboot sometimes resolves it.
However, to remedy this properly I found that BIOS option in POST Behavior -> Fastboot -> Thorough seem to help.
None of this is set in stone as model, hardware and even software revision can affect it differently. Hope it helps though.
Ed
@@Edsdrafts Thanks, I will dig into the BIOS settings. And get back if I found something useful.
Hello there, thanks for the vid.
Does this dock work with laptops/ computers on USB A 3.0? If so, what is the connection between the dock and computer?
Hi. Yes you can use USB 3.0 dock with USB A connection. Thunderbolt is simply a faster standard, higher resolution displays with higher refresh rate, more fast USB ports etc.
Thank you!
Yey we have exactly the same computer peripherals.
Where would you hook a webcam to? The hub of the laptop?
Thanks for the video. Does it have to be USB type C from the laptop for this to work.
I would like to use extended display with HDMI from laptop to two HDMi monitors and still provide 3 different displays in extended mode.
With this exact setup, yes you have to use USB-C as that is what the dock uses. This is where it gets tricky. You have to make sure that your laptop supports video over USB-C; you'll need to read the tech specs and/or documentation. Unfortunately, some laptop models/manufacturers don't make it clear all the time the device's video capabilities.
If your laptop doesn't support video over USB-C, you may need to buy USB to HDMI adapters.
