This is the best version of jean she's powerful without the Phoenix force unlike 90s jean always passing out.
Yeah but the created on that show was saying to us, that she couldn't Focus enough when she in stress or in battle. But yeah their did make jean in that series to useless that why see there in the first place
Jean was always supposed to be a damsel in distress. Once she acquired Phoenix she stop relying on others to save her.

@@TheGenoxis No she wasn't. Not even during the silver age. Even though Marvel tended to portray women as weaker in the 60's, Jean rarely needed to be saved. In fact, in the very first X-Men issue, she was adamant on showing she could handle herself. If anyone had to be saved frequently, it was Nightcrawler. Because he was the team's comic relief and writers often used him to crack jokes or some German exclamations during dangerous situations.
But Jean? Not a chance. Her X-Men: Evolution incarnation is actually very accurate to the comics.

For those who say this Jean’s Telekinesis is weak, technically she started as a telepath and learned telekinesis afterwards. Which is pretty impressive.
her telepathy was shutdown by Charles when she almost died when she telepathically linked herself to her dying friend Annie.. she was a little girl that time.. she learned to use telepathy gradually

her telepathic manifestation PREVENTED someone's soul from moving on to the after life which picked an interest from the Phoenix force because she was able to influence life and death situation via her Telepathy alone
Actually she exhibited empathic ability through her telepathy, she felt her friends death and was being pulled through until the phoenix intervened. Charles locked that side of her away and trained her to use and hone her telekinesis before she was ever able to have access to her Telepathy.
one of the things I love about this series is that they don't have the energy to put up with the love triangle between Jean,Scott and Logan. So they made Jean and Scott as teenagers meanwhile Logan is that hardcore uncle.

they did a good job of making her powerful without being overpowered. she was definitely one of, if not the strongest of the students, but it was still obvious that she was learning and that she was putting in a lot of effort into becoming stronger with each season
I'd also agree. But I'd still hate when their make a powerful character started out so weak to begin with in the first place. Knowing in each version of jean in ever different timeline and reality of her. It stated jean grey as a child she can get contact with cosmic Entity's. Because of her psychic powers is virtually in measurable that even Professor X was so afraid that she could destroy the earth but his greatest fear that she can do even more then that. But writer's seem to forget or dont really go deeper into her history anymore. Because they seem running out of good idea's about her. Because even without the Phoenix force within her she can still become physic with pure energy. I'd forgot what comics book their let he be pure energy form? Anyway she is one of the most powerful OP Characters in Marvel Multiverse period .
Right?? Jean has an incredible amount of raw power, even if her control of it can sometimes be a little rough around the edges. In fact, as a child I was always under the impression she was holding back a lot of it.

Definitely, but there were times were Rogue and Scarlet Witch used her powers against her which bothers me since she is an omega level mutant and still gets beat sometimes.
@@limogch4586 Omega level doesn't mean unbeatable. They are still humans after all. Scarlet witch also is named as omega I think or Magneto who was at the official list of omega levels but even so they have a breaking point too. Or at least they used to till recently that they make them all the more overpowering and they tend to lose the sense of mutants to me anymore

This Jean was the best because even though she started weaker, she wasn’t useless and knew how to use her powers even with the limitations. Also eventually she became extremely powerful to the point where she could control helicopters and battle Xavier. And above all, she had a personality.
The sound effect for her powers are everything.

Reasons why this Jean is the best version of her
1. She acts like a normal person
2. She isn't played as a emotional center
3. She isn't clumsy when using her powers
4. Her relationship with Cyclops isn't played for emotional effect
5. She isn't a damsel in distress
6. She isn't used a conflict resolution
And she doesn't toy with Scott and Logan

This was honestly the best and most original X-men adaptation. Loved that they were all students and it really made it easier to relate to the characters on a personal level. Also had tons of character development for all the characters. 10/10

This version of jean does way more justice to her abilities, strength, and character than the 90s show.
Facts
Did anyone else catch the Phoenix Avatar in her hair at 13:31? Compared to the 90s Jean Grey this one can actually hold her own in battle. Also loved how she flew alot in this series because if 90s Jean Grey telekinetically lifted herself she'd immediately have to go lay down 🤣🤣🤣.
Not to mention that annoying yellow/blue light that has to emit from the heads of telekinetics/telepaths just to show their psychicness that covers almost the whole frames from the scenes.
Something tells me that the Phoenix shape her hair makes me think that she'd be Dark Phoenix in the fifth season...

Bruh, rewatching all these scenes and seeing all the subtle Phoenix imagery that they put around Jean?? I can't believe I didn't notice before. Maybe I'm grasping at straws, but both the explosion at 7:00 and her hair at 13:32 look just like the Phoenix raptor. And then of course at 19:38. We know they were gonna introduce the Phoenix if they'd gotten a Season 5, but it's now painfully obvious that they were building up to it and I'm mad we never got to experience it w/ this version of Jean that was already strong on her own.

Your so late, this was confirmed. The next season was to be focused on the Dark Phoenix Saga but there was not enough funding to continue the series. I was mad af!
when can we as a society accept that x-men evolution is better than the 90’s animated series.
Jean Grey is certainly better in this series but overall, the 90s series is much better because it was far more loyal to the comics.
If we just mix the best points of the 90s series and Evolution we'd have the perfect X-Men adaptation.

I think this is the best way they have ever portrayed Jean Gray on scene to me. I mean the 90’s Version is a classic but the also did her dirty but this version truly flush’s her out character and power wise. I hope the mcu take this route but going all Phoenix again so it can be done right.

Gotta say is very disappointing that they didn't introduce her rival Emma Frost to the show.
Frank Paur (one of the showrunners) said they had plans to introduce emma frost in season 5.

Well, at the time this show started (2000) she and Emma weren't rivals yet. That's why they decided to try and make Jean and Rogue rivals instead.

Reformed that she couldn't take control over her powers but it a.k.a her powers is taken control of her. So I'd like this show. Letting us know even their know how powerful she can be. Can we take the time to appreciate an X Men adaptation that has Jean as a prominent and competent member of the Team and yet somehow didn't feel the need to introduce the Pheonix Force? Seriously its like the one thing writers always do when she becomes the focus.
The Phoenix was foreshadowed, but the show got canceled.
Thanks i've been waiting so long for a video about evolution jean. She was perfect, best version of her in any cartoons. Proving she can be powerful af even without the Phoenix
Not only that, but she's also a great character in this show. She is the reason why the other X-Men are confident about blending in with humans because despite her potentially dangerous powers, she still manages to be a successful academic, an athlete and with a social life, basically everything Kurt, Kitty, Bobby, Amara, Sam etc want to have and that's why they look up to her as if she were their cool older sister.
I heard that had the show not been cancelled, Jean would've been killed off at the end of the Dark Phoenix Saga (which was going to take place in season 5). It would've been interesting to see how the X-Men would've reacted to their role model dying.
Best Jean Grey version. I don't get it why Jean in the 90s cartoons can't fly when she can lift things through her mind. As a 90s kid I grew up mistakenly thought Jean was a weak mutant when in fact she's one of the strongest. I love her Storm and Rogue (90s version)

This is more complicated. One it is older and I hate to say it, is not popular enough. Fans of X-Men the animated series show are always dumping on it. As well there may be rights issue as Warner Bros was the original distributor of the show. And Marvel has been neglecting the X-Men for a while so I doubt they would do this.

this compilation showed how her telekinesis grew exponentially. Like for the first half she is struggling in lifting drawers and keepng Scott and Kurt afloat, then on the second half, she's lifting boulders, cars, choppers, etc.

I want to re-watch X-men Evolution now. I haven’t seen it since it originally aired. I don’t remember Jean being this good. Definitely better than the Wolverine and the X-men version. And the X-men anime. Even better than the movies versions.

@@MrDibara I also learned that Emma Frost *(and by proxy The Hellfire Club)* would've been introduced as well. And considering the fact that the characters are in High School at this point, I know the love corner between those three would have been *messy, messy*. This show had so much potential.

color thingies would definitely makes magic wielding powers seem more appealing like wanda, but to Psychics it definitely won't be. These ripple effects they use here in XE Evo when she uses her powers as shield or making psychic blast or when using her telepathy is just so right.
I prefer no effect in her telekinesis tbh, it seens more cleaner this way but I like the effect in her telekinetic force field.
I love how you can see you powers getting stronger over time and the writers didn’t go into all the Phoenix stuff like every other adaptation
It's sad that they only showed how Jean transformed into a Phoenix at 20:00 but no continuation of the story

@DANI S I know i've rewatched the show many times, i loved it ever since i was a kid, i believe i was 7 when i saw it and i'm 23 now! i love everything about it, the characters, the design, the writing.... such a shame and Jean was definitely the highlight of the show, i liked Kitty and Kurt too.

I will always wonder what their Phoenix saga would have looked like if they were given a 5th season.
I think this version would've just had Dark Phoenix be Jean's own inner darkness, not some space entity possessing her. They did a good job showing her flaws here like her anger and occasional pettiness.
This is by far the ultimate version of jean and all xmen

This is my favourite version of Jean Grey along with the Ultimate Jean Grey. But this is undoubtably my favourite animation of her and my favourite X Men evolution character.

I've always wanted to see that telekinesis effect when she uses her powers. Like the ripple effect, since Scarlet Witch in the mcu uses the same powers and uses the red glowy thing and for sure Susan Storm will join mcu too and will be using the blue version, I hope they use this sound effect and ripple effect to make her unique. In the mcu. ❤️
Purple (borderline pink) has almost always Jean’s color when it comes to using her powers so hopefully they somewhat incorporate that in the MCU

Jung Soojung well you do have to remember that the mainstream audience and see it as no difference. This is made for to please the public and not niche comic book fans. You I’ve always liked it too, I just doubt they’ll give it to jean. The average person would just see her as a copy of wanda
SSJ Raikage yeah but it’s the duty of marvel to make her a separate character from Wanda. Similarities aren’t that bad especially since there are alr existing characters that are similar in a lot of aspects (antman & wasp, Iron Man, War Machine, and Pepper in Endgame, and soon Jane Foster & Thor)
Jean’s already an established character in mainstream media due to the interpretation of
fox (and was in the cbm scene way before wanda) so establishing her as a separate
character from Wanda won’t be as hard.
