when do YOU use the alternating technique versus other wall techniques? stay tuned for the column technique and diagonal technique tutorials coming soon!
I mostly use it for taller walls, but for shorter ones i use the column technique as it topples easier for those kind of walls, though with some dominoes you can easily use the alternating technique for short walls
One of the first things I looked up was how to make a wall. But I've never seen it explained this thoroughly. I never realized the higher it is, the more reliable. I always thought the higher it was, the more weight you're putting on the dominoes, and thus less reliable. But that's why you pull a domino from 5 rows down from the top! I wouldn't have made that connection had I not seen all this said in one go. I've done tutorials before for various other things, I know how hard it is to have to try to think of everything, and actually SAY everything that needs to be said. You did a good job! Can't wait for the next two wall tutorials and what insight you'll bring to the table with those that I haven't heard before!
Really appreciate your feedback and glad that this tutorial helped clarify some things! :) Yeah it's interesting that the higher the wall is, the more reliable. I was worried that I would forget to say something important but I think I covered it all... if not maybe I said it in the column or diagonal tutorials xD Thanks so much!
I have made at least 1,000 walls in my life I enjoy making them I have you explain stuff better than I do, K I'm autistic I can't explain good, but I enjoy the content you make
Amazing video.. Easiest tutorial ever seen.. Today I got to know the difference between Alternating and Column Domino Wall Technique.. Thanks.. I always make alteenating cause I don't to how to make column technique.. Today I figured out the difference and will make Column Domino Wall soon.. Thanks for tutorial and *keep on building*
Friends, I am back after more than a week of inactivity on RUclips due to the passing of my maternal grandfather, but here I am to say that I loved this tutorial but there are some things that I would love to detail in this comment: - Yes, I would recommend using the vertical domino technique for the end part of the wall because the end part of the wall is more likely to collapse (instead of using a crossed horizontal domino because it may cause that part not to fall and only a domino tower would remain). - Honestly, I have been using your domino brand for a short time and really for who want their walls of small height to collapse I would recommend yes or yes the classic dominoes, a brand or a plastic block that has a slippery surface, since having a special texture on the surface of the H5’s, it can also cause that the smaller walls do not collapse, the truth and ed that what we have achieved and built with the brand we have suffered from that, but anyway many thanks for recommending the number of layers for the domino walls in the case of the H5 (although well I have only 200 dominoes so at the moment I can't do many things with the walls :P). - Possibly you can do a combination of the diagonal technique with the column technique, I think. - I recommend using the alternative technique ONLY when making a straight domino wall, as the column technique would use it for walls that are more curved. - And yes, please ALWAYS CHECK EACH LAYER OF THE WALL since it even happened to me once recently when I made a short video. - For when your wall collapses (in the case of the H5), please if you have a little more tape, stick some tape with the field starter, because if you don't, the field starter will probably go to go sideways due to the weight of the wall (well this doesn't always happen, but it only happens on the largest walls), in fact if you didn't realize it, in the video of the last contest I used that technique on the stairs. Well I loved this detailed tutorial (aside from the old intro to your tutorials back) and I can't wait for the next parts in the next few weeks! 😉👍
Yay! A new tutorial! I mostly use the column technique in my setups because 1. as you said that it is more stable and 2. It just looks better from the other wall techniques in some way to me.
Nice! I also prefer the column technique if I had to choose, unless I need a perfectly square endcap. But I think the alternating technique is actually slightly more stable because the weight can be more properly distributed on both sides.
Excellent tutorial. Loved the domino wall effect, especially in slo-mo. Domino tutorials are great, especially for beginners who are learning how to build domino tricks and structures.
Thank you! Yes, and I hope this video can even be useful for more experienced builders too. I tried to make this as detailed as possible, so hopefully people can pick up a few nuggets of new information.
I know how to build the the all 3 but I like to see how u teach how to build and get more perfect in it I love the idea series u r making so it's complete idea of all type of walls That looks so cool colours combinations and they are bright Btw , again pls tell when r the H5 Domino Creations is coming in Asia? so would be more easy for us Asian to get H5 Domino Creations ...
Great Tutorial, Lily. The tutorial was very detailed. I use the wall with alternating technique when I want to prevent the fails while I was building. Also I use this technique sometimes when I want to reveal something in the behind of the wall. You did a very nice job. Keep on building! Lily! :D |||||\
Yaay! Another H5 Domino Community tutorial! The domino wall is possibly the most *IMPORTANT* part of any domino setup. The wall helps the setup look more interesting as it adds a different elevation to the domino setup, so if anyone wants to ever make a really cool elevation without making things unnecessarily complicated, the domino wall (And any type of domino structure in general) is the way to go! I (personally) use the alternating technique very few times. It's mostly because of the type of dominoes I use (You guessed it! Awful wooden dominoes!). The weird thing about wooden dominoes is that (yes, I have to get into some technical domino dimension stuff) they have awful dimensions. They are weirdly tall, yet strangely thinner at their face. Now, Mexican Train Dominoes are having at least somewhat manageable sizes, the colorful wooden dominoes are not perfect. So..... I cannot build end caps. So if you do the logic, the alternating technique is pointless with wood dominoes. End caps should be built with the column technique with wooden dominoes to maintain at least some aesthetics (wooden colors are pretty worn off in the first place) so for me the alternating technique is MAINLY used for fun (but let me tell you, the alternating technique for wood looks bad with an end cap). I use it if I want variety, that's all! The comment got a little sidetracked with the dimension stuff, but I hope anyone reading this understands domino dimensions a bit more properly (I learned it the hard way by knocking down a wall trying to make the professional domino end cap 😔) Anyways, great tutorial Lily!
I totally understand what you are saying! I've also tried making the alternating technique with wooden dominoes or ceramic mexican train dominoes, in the past - it's very difficult due to uneven dimensions and rounded corners :/ So I agree that some wall techniques are better than others depending on the type of dominoes you use. Thanks for watching and for sharing your experience!
Thank you for making all these tutorials I have been trying to make my own domino Chanel and its been hard to get people to watch my videos but these tutorials really help 😊❤

Hi hevesh 👋... can you make a technique on a really interesting wall so you make a 90 degree turn wall but I want to place the {end cap technique} I tried once but I didn't work ... so if you can figure it out that would be a neat wall that even we can build thank you hevesh bye 👋 have a good day 😊
Lily I have questions when you were starting dominoes were you a perfectionist cause me I have a problem with this how would you teach me to be not a perfectionist anymore like if theres a background noice I don't put it in my video and if it has a fail I want to repeat the setup instead editing it you see I deleted my channel because I want it to be perfect how can you teach me to be not a perfectionist anymore but now
The perfectionist struggle is real - I can totally relate to what you are saying. Sure, building perfect and precise setups can be good in that you know they will work and will look nice, but can eventually become a drag to build or becoming boring in some ways. On the other hand, it can be upsetting to see a project fail by not paying too much attention to it... but can sometimes those can be more fun to build. I think it's just a matter of finding balance between the two. If you're too far on the perfectionist side and you feel that it's becoming detrimental, start by letting go of the little things. Most of the time, people won't actually notice the small details that you will (like the background noise, if you see one domino is like 5 degrees off, etc.) and having those things remain in the setup/video doesn't actually detract from the video at all. One exercise that can be fun to try out is making a setup where you don't care about anything - just focus on having FUN building all the way through - even if you know something clearly won't work, or isn't exactly how you envisioned. Think about the process more than the end result, and sometimes that can help with overcoming perfectionism. Wishing you all the best!
