I honestly think headphones need a little bit more innovation, like a built in sniper scope, red dot sight, and a bayonet so you can charge into battle while listening to recent drake albums

I also have the akg n400nc(can you tell i watch crinacle yet) and they're fine but at a fraction of the cost blon's are better and a never have to charge them so i definitely use them more.

As an audiophile, you did an excellent job with your research and in general respect for the hobby. This vid is a great overview of the entire audio landscape, and not just the super-mainstream landscape. I instantly knew that you did your research when you said and defined IEMs by name. This has to be the least audiophile vid about headphones/IEMs from a music enthusiast. I love the breath of fresh air from the tiring discussion of measurements.
interestingly enough i have a pair of Sennheiser headphones, the pxc 550 ii, that have an app to change all your settings and stuff including some basic audio settings, like reverb, bass, soundstage, and one or two other things. those changes actually get saved into local storage of the device and theoretically, once you set those settings you never need an app ever again to use those headphones. the very nice side effect of this is you dont NEED an app on your phone to change the profile of them and when you connect it to your pc, laptop, or literally any other device, your profile is still there! very nice feature 10/10, the headphones are breaking and im considering buying again
Something to know about headphones is that they have never gotten better, just more convenient. For example, a pair of stax electrostatics from the 80s or hd600 which is now 26 years old, sound absolutely fantastic, even compared to modern headphones. The hd600s could even be considered one of the best headphones under $500 you can buy today. The improvements in headphones are features such as wireless and noise cancelling.
M50Xs do you no wrong. The perfect EQ balance. Any genre from any era sounds great in them and they let you notice a lot of details in the mixes of songs. Definitely my recommended headphones to anyone.
The general majority seem to prefer the sound of M40X, but 50s can't lose tbh. I have a set of 40s that I've had for years, they make everything sound great. OEM pads were fucked after so much use though so recently got some Brainwavz angled ones and removed the foam inserts since people recommend it if you're using Brainwavz angled pads
they’re called closed back headphones because there are actually two types of over ear headphones, closed back and open back. as the name says they are literally open on the shell and that makes wider sound. and closed backs are closed, thats better for bass. just wanted to say that
(8:26) It’s me. I’m rocking Shokz (Formerly Aftershokz), the leading brand of bone conduction headphones. What’s cool about these headphones is they don’t block your ears at all. If you have ear drainage, as I do, these can come in handy. It also means you can hear everything around you as you listen. Quality isn’t extremely great, but it’s really notable for open ear headphones, and they’re pretty easy to use Plus, 99% of people assume they’re hearing aids, which means you can get away with listening in class hehe
I stopped buying new headphones 2 years ago, and I've had a single pair of Skullcandy that have worked for that amount of time, and sound perfectly fine.
I not the type to break and dismantle my headphones, but the type to lose them. I’m still mad someone else gets to enjoy the *hundreds* of dollars I spent on beats Studio 3’s! *Guess I’ll buy Studio 4*
I feel like the actual audio quality in equipment has peaked. Now it’s just on to trying to make the user experience better. Wireless has obv been the biggest thing now
I use the khaki Senheisers you showed in the video. The replaceable cable has allowed them to last far longer than any previous set of headphones I've had, and I don't think they've been more than 15 feet from me in weeks.
I'm listening to this video on Powerbeats 4. Bought them secondhand (or refurbished) for a 1/3rd of the price and they have worked quite well for the last year or so. Good profile and I like having a wire around my neck so I don't have to put the headphones in a case. A benefit there is the cable is a part of the ear loop. Hoping I can get more mileage out of them than others I have had in the past.
Kinda amazed at the level of energy and effort put into this video and I’m just sad to see it at only 100k views. Don’t listen to me since you’re doing much better on here than I am, but here’s my 2 cents on the video (in order to ensure your future ones get the love they truly deserve): - I didn’t really feel like there was a narrative (You were talking about headphones in general, but I didn’t get the feeling we were going from one step to another with some semblence of a storyline) - You put in like 15% too much (The jokes were so good. So cleaver, but they were too clever and too good. The video was just so much to digest I had to pause it several times just to take in some jokes). - On the last note, take into consideration your timing. The waze joke was fantastic, but it flew by way too quickly to register. Your videos, humor, visuals, creativity and script skills deserve much more love. Hope you get a lot more people on your videos, ‘cuz they’re fantastic!
As someone who uses bone conductors (and we’re using them to watch this) I was wondering if you were gonna skip over them or not lol glad they got a mention since they are really useful for hearing impaired people like me.
Watched this with my Sennheiser Momentum 4s-wasn't expecting them to be featured in the video! (I highly recommend them, once you disable the glitchy head sensor. 60 hour battery life + quick charge while using them, means that the problem mentioned in the video about having to worry about battery life is pretty much non-existent.)
I remember when I used to have a phone that had a headphone jack I would have to constantly replace my earphones after around a month. Don't know if it was because I would listen to my music too loudly or what, but it was bloody annoying.
I just love how my sony earbuds instead of being called like… i dunno’ “3rd gen sony earbuds” or something, they’re instead called “xf-1000xm3” the only thing that makes sense is the 3 because they’re the 3rd gen model, but no idea what does any of the other gibberish mean

Hella good quality for closed back, used mainly for gaming with a 3.5+ mic I bought, and for high end wireless 40+ hour listening and wired hyper detailed listening.
Given that I have used and loved AKG K240s, which were first produced in the 70s and HD600s, which were first made in 97, I feel like consumer grade headphones haven’t really changed much. Other features and wireless are a different story, but magnetic driver headphones are pretty much set for the time being

Honestly wanted some wireless over the ears for under $50, but I did find these really good Soundcore life P2 mini wireless earbuds for $35, They honestly are great for the price. Oh yeah and touch controls, (You can’t tell but I’m sighing) I’ll take out one earbud to listen to someone talk or have the, listen to it, and with the Press the earbud for 2 seconds to skip a song feature, that doesn’t work out well
