They're going to have to cut a lot of content if its hour long episodes per book. I think 2 hour long episodes for each book so they cut as little content as possible.

I'm 22 now warrior cats first book came out in 2002 when I was born I am equally as old as warrior cats and that's my biggest flex 😂

My overall opinion if this is “Please be good, please be good, PLEASE BE GOOD”
I have high hopes, but low expectations because the last deal and how it was never mentioned that it was cancelled, and they just kinda left us hanging for like five years with no real updates
The animation team doesn’t have time to read the books. They are already getting scripts and lines, but all though I agree I hope this is good.

Hah, I remember when the original movie was promised to us. It’s a little satisfying to know that happened to it, honestly I thought that we’d never hear about it again. I’m not going to get excited until we actually see something materialize from this production. I’m glad that it’s animated, and hopefully they mean 2D animated. (A 2D animated movie would be a love letter to the series and all the fan artists/animators) Just don’t get your hopes up too soon, guys.
If you look into Coolabi who is collaborating with tencent you will find they only make mediocre content for small children from 2 to 7 years old.

They have already started animating it! On the official TikTok account they made a video about a warrior cat sock show skit. The first few seconds were probably tiny bloopers of the movie. We saw Rusty’s eye and a glimpse of shadowclan territory ( I think it was shadowclan territory)
This is just like the FNaF movie all over again, except Warriors still isn’t even in production, and the FNaF movie actually came out.
I was in middle school when the Warriors movie was first announced, and now I’m a college student.
Yea- all we can hope is that it doesn’t turn out as bad as the Fnaf movie if this show/movie does come out

The obvious thing to do is make the main books an tv show (each season being an arc), super editions as movies, and novellas being short films. But this is the warriors team we're talking about, that may make too much sense.
I just hope the writers are already fans of the books or at least took the time to read AND understand what the original source material did
I too am hesitant about Tencent being involved :| also, I sincerely hope that the animation won't be in the original comic art style. I had a funny thought of it being in the collection figurine style and I hope I didn't speak that into existence xD
Riiight. I want this to be good quality. I need it. I hope they make it more PG-13 I don't want them to dull out the violence in the series
I think the best part about this announcement, is that it seems to be implied this will be about entirely new characters, not the ones from the books, which was my one main hope if we got an adaptation to animation.
I mean, think about it…in the past, cats from clans have ran off or decided on a new life as a loner, rogue, kittypet, so on. It would definitely not be out of the question if entirely new clans ended up forming, after one or multiple clan cats ran to new territories. Or maybe Starclan seeks other cats who used to live a different life. Maybe they come across old territory, or the moonstone/moonpool. Could you imagine how cats would function in the city? In caves? How would clan rules differ from the main 5? There’s a lot of potential to tap into.
Nope, not new characters. The wording is "Tencent Video will work with the original characters and storylines." Keyword: THE. Meaning they are working with specific characters. The only specific characters would be ones that already exist.
They are referred to as original characters because all Warrior Cats are original characters owned by Coolabi, not because they know about the term OC as we use it in the fandom.
They aren't gonna make a new cast because it would put us super out of what they're already writing about; current world warriors
@@BrightGuardianAkira It would still be super cool if Tencent DID use new characters. Violence could be toned down for younger audiences, less characters means more screen time for those same characters, and hardcore fans wouldn't be furious over character cuts. They would also have complete freedom with the scenery, personality, mood, etc, and they can set their own bar for plots and animation. If I was the directer for this project at Tencent Video, I would seriously consider this as a path to freedom that excites the younger, more carefree new audience and keeps the older, more hardcore audience coming from the books.

I think an anmie is the best way to go for warriors. It would allow them to include all of the plot lines that likely would have been abandoned in a movie. It would also work in terms of blood and violence, I can easily imagine the fights in it. With an anmie, we could probably end up getting the entire story with amazing visuals and epic fights.

That's what I was thinking. I always imagined an official warrior cats animated movie/series being in an anime-ish style. I think it works with the fantasy elements of the story (like Starclan, Prophecies, Powers, etc) and also the violence. Anime is usually good with depicting violence that Warriors is known for.
I think the formatting for Warrior Cats, if they were adapting the books into digital media directly, would work best (and be the most interesting) if the main series was made into a TV show while the super editions and novellas were movies
I know some leakers online are insanely reliable, I wonder if they'll be able to dig up the original script?
I’m hoping we get a TV show. Let’s be real, these books are cut wayyy down without having to use words to give graphic visual details. So it wouldn’t be too much, and every season or part could be an arc of the series that amounts to about maybe two or three seasons worth of the average Netflix show. (My math could be wrong, but Netflix shows I’ve watched averaged 17 episodes per season.)

I still think Warriors would be better as some kind of cartoonishly animated show than a movie. There's just SO many books-- I hope they don't try to squish them all together _too_ much! This is really exciting :D
honestly, i think a movie either will ruin the fandom (most likely) or make the fandom even more alive. but like how other movies were portrayed by the fandom might happen to warrior cats if they release one. i do have my hopes high, though.
It might ruin the map fandom with lack of design freedoms for the first arc maybe? I doubt that happening, I think this is good idea.
It will inject life into the fandom but also lots of disagreements. Source: I'm in the Percy Jackson fandom.
yeah I have a feeling too, since I used to be in the hunger games fandom, there was a lot of divide between people over whether the books or the movies were better, and it didn’t help that the movies left a bunch of vital information from the books completely out. But I hope the same won’t be said for Warriors 😭
I hope it's a series and not just movies. I think in the early 2000-2010's we made too many books into Movies when they should've been full series (Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, Guardians of Ga'hoole). But with the recent Percy Jackson series and the announcement of a Harry Potter rebut, I think companies are more comfortable making books into a series.
I think 5-6 episode, roughly each being 30-40 minutes could work well to include most things in the Warriors books.
agreed. i would actually enjoy a series, not a movie. especially if there was different series for different arcs- like on netflix or something, dont know. @@falcon_arkaig

Personally I would not enjoy that. I definitely prefer wcanimated art and we havent even seen it yet. And theres so many animators that have great animation that i think about and go hm it would be nice to see this style. I love what little dragon did and the effort but i personally wouldn't wanna see it in that style in a canon show

Interesting Coolabi also produce the mini figures, so we can assume the mini figures are potentially a pointer for where the art style may go

@@BrightGuardianAkira have they mentioned what sort of style the movie might be produced in? I recall in the very first announcement, they mentioned it would be in a cgi or live-action type of thing. But, I have a feeling they may be tempted to go a different route considering many animated movies produced within the past few years have been influenced by the works of the spider-verse movies and whatnot, utilizing both cgi along with hand-drawn 2d animation for a more unique aesthetic feel.
That being said, I feel it’s still too early to make any theories though, since just like with the first movie announcement, it probably won’t be until years from now until we get more updates as movies (especially animated ones) can take decades to fully produce. I think it’s best for us to remain patient for now. Great video btw! A new warriors movie announcement wasn’t something I was expecting in a million years 😭

even if it will be canceled i still have hopes for the WCanimated project here on youtube for into the wild. You all should go check it out, they already hired some voice actors for the characters. It’s a very ambitious project but i believe it’s gonna be great!
My friend, last I checked, they were forced to end their work because Erin Hunter got to them - they said that, basically, they weren't allowed to continue with it because it'd be almost the same thing as an official Warrior Cats thing, copyrights and stuff. :{

i really hope it’s not a childish movie. id be so upset. i hope it’s atleast similar to the books keeping a lot of the scenes, although he books have some explicit scenes, keeping them would keep the fans happy, most readers are atleast older then 10 and it’s the parents choice if they want their child to read/watch.

It makes me wonder if this will end up like Tailchaser's song, which sadly seems to of ended up not happening in the end. Much like when they also talked about doing a Tiger's curse movie that also never happened.
I just can’t believe they canceled the wings of fire thing. Me and my cousin were screaming and running around the house when we found out it was in production. She’s read all the books at least five times. I’ve only ready the graphic novels and half the first novel

It’s so weird that they chose a Chinese company. You would think it would’ve been smarter to do it with an English company since their main audience is English
Big audience in China, I assume the violent nature doesn’t sit well with Western conglomerates
They didn't just choose a Chinese company, they chose THE Chinese company. Tencent Video is a branch of Tencent, the largest company in China. Tencent is twice the size of Disney, to put it in perspective. Tencent could have easily offered them more money than any English company they could have gone with.
And Tencent is involved in lots of stuff that makes its way over to English audiences (whereas English companies don't often bring stuff to China), so they will get both the Chinese and English audiences. It's the most money for Warrior Cats.

@@BrightGuardianAkira Yup, plus I think it’s notable that the previous company they worked with was Alibaba who are also Chinese. While Tencent often makes products for a Western demographic, the fact that they were involved with Alibaba prior suggests that Chinese companies are more interested in the Warriors property than the US are. From what I know Warriors has a large Chinese fanbase, would love to see more Chinese fan discourse if I’m honest!
Just want to add as I was employed in a Tencent company, they are fabulous to work for as a Western dev. Unlike American companies like Microsoft they gave us complete creative freedom as they understood that we knew the European market better than they did and they were willing to invest in new IP. I’m not sure how they will be with Warriors on the other hand as this will be a product designed to sell to a domestic Chinese audience as well so maybe they’ll interfere more. I don’t expect the project to be cancelled as you have to bear in mind that riot lay-offs were partially in response to the Chinese government’s new laws regarding video games in China. Just my thoughts!
I am so scared for some of the characters adaptions. And for the fandoms designs.
There are a ton of diverting designs out there like Brown Firestar or White Tigerstar that would likely be chastised if the movie is made into production, if you look back to any other fandom, extreme changes to character designs are just, not as founded as the Warriors fandom
I mean there's plenty of shows with designs of characters outside of it and even with a show visualizing the characters people could still complain bc of the fact that the cats are still described in book and are still drastically changed so either way that's a problem
I think it would be better if there will be series,not a movie.Because it can be split into seasons,each season containing 1 arc,with 25-30 minutes episodes.I hope this time the project wont get canceled...

Another unfortunate thing from Tencent being the one they went with is that now we are basically guaranteed there will be NO LGBT representation. I always thought that an animated movie/series would be a perfect opportunity to put in some LGBT content that the books lack
