    Appreciate the honest review! Sorry about the disappointment with the matching set. I switched to the SR241 (in part because I absolutely love the tread pattern haha) and have been loving it, but it's great to hear it holds up well compared to other tires as well.

      Thanks for watching Spencer, I really appreciate it! Yeah, that SR241 is a great tire and holds up really well! The Dunlops are okay, they still aren't my favorite, but they hold up really well and wear like IRON! I rode them down in Moab a few weeks ago and I had grip for days on the rocks.

    Mi Matt, I took an Michelin AC10 off the rear of my DRZ400 and then got a wild idea, I tied it on my TW front, I was afraid it might be too aggressive but instead I love it, ok on the road wet or dry and way better on the mud and rocks. I good a bonus because like others have reported my TW didn’t like being disturbed at speed and felt a little unstable when it was, with the AC10 the steering is a little slower but returns right away to Center when disturbed. Overall all I glad I tried a very different tyre.

      Hey Fred! Thanks for the insight. I installed the 244 on a friends bike and it felt like glue with how well it stuck to the ground. The only downside I found was that it felt heavier than the others. But, I should try it again now that I have had the 241 for as long as I have.

  • @TDub_ADV
    @TDub_ADV 3 года назад +4

    I went with neither. Both of ours have Shinko 244 "golden boy"'s on the front. They work a lot better in the north east in the loamy dirt we have here. The 244 and a Duro ATV tire on the rear and the bike is unstoppable. The 244 is good on the street too. I have tried the 241 and did not like it at all for my type of riding.

    • @MOBStreet83
      @MOBStreet83  3 года назад

      Good Call!! Which size did you go with on the 244? I installed one on my buddies bike and it was the 5.10x18. The grip was definitely there but it felt a lot heavier in steering than the 241 or the stock tire. I really dig the rear rack setup you have done with your bike as well! What luggage do you usually use for those side panels you installed?

    • @TDub_ADV
      @TDub_ADV 3 года назад +1

      @@MOBStreet83 We have the 5.10's. They do make the steering a little heavier for sure but i have never noticed it to be an issue.
      For luggage we have two sets of wolfman bags that we use. The smaller set we have are the no longer made wolfman expedition bags which have the infamous trashcan mod and the larger set which are in some of my videos are an older set of wolfman Rocky Mountain bags. I have had the bags for years and they have held up really well.
      The mods i have made to the cyclerack have worked out really well. They allow us to each carry 2-1gallon rotopax on each bike for fuel and water and the tool tubes have been super handy. I keep a tool roll in mine and on her bike we use it for misc stuff.

    Hey Matt, nice vid! I can’t decide between the 241 and 244. I luv the idea of the uber safe and planted feel of the 244 cuz I ride mostly eastern woods in dirt/rock/mud but also worry that it might be too heavy feeling and not as agile. Sounds like you find that the 241 is a good compromise giving you the traction you need in dirt and rock but with a lighter more agile feel than the 244?? Thx!

    • @MOBStreet83
      @MOBStreet83  3 года назад

      Thank you Sir! Well when it comes to the Shinko 244 there are two sizes to choose from. There is the 4.60-18 and the 5.10-18. I installed the 5.10 on my buddies bike. I wonder if the 4.60 wouldn't feel as heavy in the steering. I've been told the 244 is better than the 241 in the mud, but I haven't had any issues so far! Here's the link to both of them!

      I run the 5.10 version of the 244 on my bikes and no issue with handling at all. They feel very planted when leaned over. The steering is a little heavier than stock but it's not really a detriment.

    Hey Matt. TheShinko 3.0 seems to be considerably narrower and my local CycleGear shop refuses to mount it. I am considering the Shinko 244 - 5.10. What do you think? Thanks in advance. Love all your videos!!!!!!

    • @MOBStreet83
      @MOBStreet83  3 года назад +1

      Hey Jeff! Yeah, the 3.0 is like a 110 where the front on the TW is a 130. The Shinko 244 in the 5.10 grips like crazy! It's better, from what I am told, in the mud than the 241 and the traction is great for trails and mountains. The 5.10 that I installed on my buddies bike felt a heavy to me but it still felt better than stock. I don't think you'll be unhappy with it. The 241 felt a lot lighter and grips great as well, but I think either one is great. They make that 244 in a 4.10 as well that might feel lighter. Here is my initial thought video on the 244 ruclips.net/video/xXB1jT-x4Bg/видео.html

      The 244 in my opinion is more suited for the mountains and trails. The 241 is a great all-around. I haven't had any issues with the 241. The 244 that I installed for a friend felt a lot heavier than the stock or the 241 but it could have been because I installed the bigger size of the 244.

    • @ridgetop8161
      @ridgetop8161 3 года назад +2

      I ride in very similar country. I run 12psi front and back if staying off pavement. On pavement I run 12 to 14 psi front and back. I've done a ton of both very rough off road and many miles of pavement, and front and rear have held up wonderfully. Some people run the tires lower (around 10 psi), but heavier people have complained about front tire sidewalls flexing too much. I have run down to PSI with zero issues though, and I'm almost 200 pounds with gear. But 12psi in the rocky hell has been great.

      I really appreciate it when you chime in Ridge Top! There are a lot of folks with a lot more experience than me. I've been happy with about 18/20 on the dirt but a lot of folks have told me to run lower than that off road and I need to try out what they are recommending. I am at 235 by myself so I need to experiment a lot more with the pressure. Those are the pressures that I have been happy with so far though!
