    I’ve heard about sprouted coconut before. But never seen one in person. From what I heard, the coconut landed on the ground and started sprouting to grow into a tree but then was harvested. Supposedly they taste better and provide a bit more nutritional value , but culturally in places like Hawaii it could be frowned upon to eat sprouted coconut

    i belive its both safer and easier to wack it open with a heavier duller thing. Although thay might just be when its not sprouted.

    I seen one once when we had managed to get hold of coconuts, my brother thought I must of had bad eyes I think so I can still remember it as it bounced off my face !

    sprouted like that it is supposed to have more nutritional value, its a great survival food if you can find it if you are ever stranded.

    This is the flower. I bisaya we call it bowa. It's delicious when it's smaller than that. If you left that coconut alone long enough that flower would have sprouted through the husk to make a tree😊

      No. Flowers come first, fruit & seeds are the result. Basic botany.

      I used to eat this a lot when I was a kid. And yeah it’s sweet and soft when it’s smaller. It’s like you’re eating coconut flavored cotton candy.

    Cool. I have actually seen sprouting of the seeds of tomatoes when the tomato got too mature. They have teeny stems and leaves sprouting from the seeds that look like alfalfa sprouts although you probably wouldn't want to risk eating it since tomatoes are in the nightshade family. You could probably plant them depending on the season.

    Nice cleaver. To open them, I usually wack it on something solid like concrete, quick method sparing your cleaver 's edge. I' ve never seen that btw. Cool

      Trust me when I say I have plenty of knives I'd prefer to not spare the edge on this clever, and it's a good test for edge toughness which it held up perfectly which is surprising considering its such an affordable clever

    I’ve eaten quite a bit of them and depending on the freshness they can taste like a chunk of cardboard or a sweet candy.

    I saw it for the first time on a survival show called MAN, WOMAN, WILD, and have always dreamed of trying one. Im not a huge fan of coconut, I can take it or leave it, but this looks delicious!

    I have seen it before on you tube. A video I watched the other day said only drink from the green coconuts for hydration. The brown ones contain to much oil ad will dehydrate you.

    I’m a coconut connoisseur and I have never seen that. I guess I’m not a very good one. It looks creepy to me

      @@NeevesKnives absolutely. One out of three of my young daughters inherited the coconut gene from me. I showed it to her and she took off running (she’s 8).
      You pass on so much knife knowledge but I never expected to learn something new about coconuts. Thanks for both
