Each door was supposed to play parts of various rock songs but it looks like the addon wasn't properly ported with all sound files. Maybe that's for the best if you don't wanna get claimed for having literally less than a second of a song in the video.
NIPPER's maps are the quintessential of 'weird' maps. Most weird maps tend to lean into the liminal variety which is okay, but the method does get a bit predictable and saturated over time. His maps aren't trying to be scary; they're just plain weird.
34:42 One of the most fun parts about watching VR LPs is that we, the viewer, can easily spot things before the player does because, to the player, those things are on their periphery and they don't immediately process it. Just like that.
1:23:58 Doom E1M1?!!! Or maybe im crazy xD but the kettle is a dead marine, it fits almost perfectly, never expected this kind of reference Btw Librarian, there's a bunch of exploration Doom mods/maps (no fighting) that may interest you, it should be easy to find them
3:00 Checkered Tile Path reference from Yume Nikki! Also those medieval like walls on begging of this video remind me of Thief series: Dark Project /Gold and The Metal Age
The modern versions of nipper's maps like zuhhhhh's stream version are lacking an incredibly important core ingredient: They were *musical* experiences. Every room a different song, a different form of abstraction. Livestreams do not get this idea across.
Nipper's maps don't hit the same without audio. The first map zuuuh is supposed to come with audio but all workshop reuploads don't include them. They usually contain funky audio and snippets of vocals from music and they bring so much life to his abstract maps.
It'd be so great to be able to literally walk thru something like this that took about 30 minutes to go thru. Maps like these are amazing, mostly in the way change is constant. Always a new environment.
seeing Zuhhhh so abysmally quiet is bizarre, that map's supposed to be filled to the brim with sound clips and looping tracks but I think VR mode is breaking them
10:46 it's so awesome seeing how comfortable he's gotten with RUclips compared to 2 years ago, ps. 16:14 that's already a thing, it's just available to the public, the original creator of the oculus made it for fun I'm pretty sure a year or 2 ago
I used to be a part of a gaming community where nipper would beta test his maps, he had an incredible talent for getting the most out of hammer. All the discussion kids these days have about liminal spaces brings me back to those days because he did surreal liminal spaces like nobody else Edit: if possible get his maps from his old archives instead of workshop so you can get the audio with sound triggers working, that was a huge part of his intended experience
I dunno why but the second map made me imagine the last dream you'd ever have. Like if you went to bed and died in your sleep, what would your final dream be? Something about the "???" ending screen just planted the idea in my head
in gmall, you can lower the balloon. I've done it before, but I'm not sure what the trigger is. I used an explosive, but it might just be a specific damage trigger because I've tried doing it multiple times. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. that map has quite a few secrets and 'anti-noclip' teleport triggers.
56:16 - those RC hobby shops were so cool back to me when I was a kid, My dad was into such stuff, use to have a rc motorbike that had a very interesting steering system where it would bump the steering the other way to counter tilt it before the steering moved the way you wanted simply with a kind of silicone tube that would kink when the servo moved.
Dear librarian, there's a VR headset that detonates (presumably if you die in game) that every has overkill addition in the form of shrapnel directed to your face, it's an art piece I think or just a useless invention for the giggles
40:12. Man I am flabberghasted you never explored this map. I swore you did. But yeah, I remember being insanely impressed by this map when I explored it over a decade ago.
i am the six hundred and sixty sixth person to like this RUclips video, but i cannot take all the credit for finishing off this journey. to everyone who participated this indirectly get an award. and to those who come afterwards, you don't get an award unless you get it to another funny number.
@CrankyRayy That's actually a really cool fact to know, I named him after Kirk Hammet from Metallica because my brother had a golden colored cat he named after James Hetfield.

Neko Mayaku Yume reminds me of the idea... you should play Yume Nikki! Your kind of game, Librarian!
41:40 Starbucks, and other places that serve coffee, tend to have hot chocolate on the menu too. However, I wouldn't suggest hot chocolate from Starbucks. Not unless you like the bitter taste of dark chocolate. Speak from experience because the college I went to had a Starbucks on campus. Honestly, better to do up your own with either real chocolate or your favorite brand of hot cacoa powder.
1:23:57 weird button panels everywhere? Blocky concrete architecture? Explosive barrels? Odd item at the centre as reward? That ain't a test chamber, that's a DOOM map
I've been thinking about having to carry objects and how clumsy it can get so I got the idea of using the duplicator function of the tool gun to avoid those situations
10:41 This here has got to be one of the greatest autistic stims I’ve ever seen in all of my life time. Actions that clearly scream “I am acoustic” and it is hilarious.
Hold up, is the second map actually inspired by Neko Yume? Ah such a good dream game, but sad the creator was not... prepared for the internet and had a mental collapse. What remains is beautiful of neko yume. Its like someone took Neko Yume, and fused it with the dream simulator garry's mall is pretty much the kind of humor I want to put into my games XD Fictitious phone number indeed. that final map is super inspiring. would love to make environments like that some day 1:24:00 that's doom 1, E1M1, one of the most famous game maps of all time. XD So much love to see it
10:00 I've noticed with some maps the skybox is kinda too small, or something. I'm guessing at some point maybe the way skyboxes work changed. Maybe something with like, the depth buffer or something not being cleared, where the skybox can end up in front of things. 35:09 I was thinking bathroom stall too haha. 53:20 Too early for there to be a skibidi in there. 54:58 That is a stinky Link bootleg. 56:35 Soviet planes maybe? zvezda means star... and those strips. Dunno if the soviets used those stripes though. 1:06:33 I played this map. It's decent. 1:08:20 Every RP map needs a jail. 1:11:34 i totally missed this one. Found it on noclip. 1:18:44 I expected the same thing too. 1:24:03 I missed this even in a noclip. This looks like Doom E1M1. 1:25:17 Definitely my favorite room, yeah. 1:26:12 I missed this room too. It's really very cozy. If I was particularly savvy and had a fast connection back in the day I could've seen myself watching TV shows and movies in bed from that angle from the bed.
ok, well i was about to be all mad about the censorship in zuhh... then I checked it out and uh... while I can say those are probably art... their not something you should put on youtube. XD One of the few times I agree censorship was okay. Good call, Library man I am grateful you are one of the only RUclipsrs who only censors when its necessary, so many people censor needlessly. At least I have this channel to call home XD
Ey man if you ever want to use a mod in your gmod exploration videos that really makes you feel like you are being watched try The Dark One for ANP base
“You wanted to see me boss?” *Proceeds to go through a comically long doorway with different variety of doors Each one getting more complex*
bro did NOT see the boss😭🙏
yea that happened
Each door was supposed to play parts of various rock songs but it looks like the addon wasn't properly ported with all sound files. Maybe that's for the best if you don't wanna get claimed for having literally less than a second of a song in the video.
This man is the reason I can fall asleep. Calming voice, takes away a lot of my anxiety. Just a cozy guy overall. THANK YOU LIBRARIAN!
Same here! Every night!
Honestly it's a little surprising he doesn't livestream this stuff.
Falling asleep rn, what really helps me sleep is voices of the void, and mystery mansion/ from the fog
Literally every time I try to sleep
I love your commitment to the bit every time you go underwater in VR.
I always do that when they go underwater in films. almost died watching finding nemo.
Fun Fact! Cosmic Latte is a real named color determined by scientists to be the average color of the observable universe
this specific instance is referencing a music artist actually! they do song mashups and i really recommend taking a look for yourself
NIPPER's maps are the quintessential of 'weird' maps. Most weird maps tend to lean into the liminal variety which is okay, but the method does get a bit predictable and saturated over time. His maps aren't trying to be scary; they're just plain weird.
“Weird maps” are perfect for falling asleep, watching this video (comfy/cozy vibes). Thanks for uploading, Librarian!
Garry's Mall was a colab back on the old facepunch forums. Many map makers contributed shops to the mall. It was a cool project!
34:42 One of the most fun parts about watching VR LPs is that we, the viewer, can easily spot things before the player does because, to the player, those things are on their periphery and they don't immediately process it. Just like that.
Neko Mayaku Yume really feels like a hybrid of LSD Dream Emulator and Yume Nikki (which I'd love to see you play).
yup. tho considering the way yume nikki is, i dont know how much hed be able to even commentate on anything lol
@@CrankyRayy what about yume 2kki? or multiplayer 2kki (YNO) that has like more randomness and pretty much infinite worlds to explore
@Benny666yeet yeah 2kki would be better (honestly itd be cool to see him play any rpgmaker game e.g. undertale, omori, off)
1:23:58 Doom E1M1?!!! Or maybe im crazy xD but the kettle is a dead marine, it fits almost perfectly, never expected this kind of reference
Btw Librarian, there's a bunch of exploration Doom mods/maps (no fighting) that may interest you, it should be easy to find them

The "J2 Abstract Mappack" upload on the workshop does contain audio if I remember correctly
My new favorite type of ASMR, exploring strange gmod maps with an equally strange commentary
The dedication to holding your breath and mumbling under water is always so funny
This is becoming a problem. I literally cannot go to sleep without a librarian video playing. May the lords above have mercy on my soul
I've missed this type of videos, I find it quite chill and relaxing
the first map feels like those really weird vivid dreams you have that are just almost completely unexplainable
13:50 bro is getting it
Literally a dark and stormy night as I’m watching this. Couldn’t ask for a better night. Thanks, Chris!
Really appreciate the flashing lights and jumpscares warning 🙏
It'd be so great to be able to literally walk thru something like this that took about 30 minutes to go thru. Maps like these are amazing, mostly in the way change is constant. Always a new environment.
He uploaded gmod tonight is going to be the beast
Now these are some really nostalgic maps to me, especially zuhhh
seeing Zuhhhh so abysmally quiet is bizarre, that map's supposed to be filled to the brim with sound clips and looping tracks but I think VR mode is breaking them

31:27 wooo desert sands
1:23:57 [e1n1 starts playing loudly]
32:58 He completely missed the cat head in the sky.
The four stages of creepiness
Beginning with the poster at 23:07 and continuing to the next room-that is a reference to Carl Sagan’s Cosmos.
12:52 What's weird is I recognized it instantly too, despite never having seen this movie????
i love your gmod map videos videos it feels like liminal is being injected directly into my veins
I dunno why but the second map made me imagine the last dream you'd ever have. Like if you went to bed and died in your sleep, what would your final dream be? Something about the "???" ending screen just planted the idea in my head
Garry's Mall always reminds me of that Sonic Zombies Gmod series by Balena Productions. Makes me nostalgic seeing it.
Malls in Mexico are still pretty fun to go to, and not abandoned at all
New librarian video yayyyyy!
i love these videos, especially when they are 2 hours or longer, keep it up man!!!!
cozy video for bedtime

If you enjoy weird Gmod Maps and LSD Dream Emulator, you HAVE to play Yume Nikki. It would fit so well to your channel!
thank you for making my day
6:32 Freaky ahh entrance😭🙏

Oh damn havent been watching for a while, YOUVE GOT AN INTRO???
I love abstract maps
Same here!
Your voice is really gentle and pretty :)
40:12. Man I am flabberghasted you never explored this map. I swore you did. But yeah, I remember being insanely impressed by this map when I explored it over a decade ago.
57:13 Oh hey! It's "Olive Peynter's City SkyScape" from The Sims 2 Basegame, costing 4,000 Simoleons and giving an environment score of 10!
In fact, that armchair underneath it is also from The Sims 2, I think!
use to play this map all the time as a kid this brings me back
57:27 The hobby shop background music is the main theme from RCT3!
Seeing you play these maps REALLY makes me hope you check out Yume Nikki some day!
16:38 epic bad rats reference
16:13 someone actually did make some, but no one's actually worn one for some reason. I forgot the details, but yeah, it's real.
56:52 Tamiya my beloved
23:13 The ship appears to resemble the craft used by Carl Sagan in the original Cosmos series. "Science" indeed!
52:39 "foe. that's the green gorblin :3 he's a bad guy"
i am the six hundred and sixty sixth person to like this RUclips video, but i cannot take all the credit for finishing off this journey.

54:45 my jimmies... they have been rustled >-
you have the time of your life making these videos ahaha im glad
I have a black cat named Kirk. He likes your videos.
thats a cool name! kirk can mean 'church' in scottish dialect
@CrankyRayy That's actually a really cool fact to know, I named him after Kirk Hammet from Metallica because my brother had a golden colored cat he named after James Hetfield.

12:00 the red X with a circle is where the Terrorist side would plant the bomb to win the round.
These are legit just like most of my regular dreams
10:41
This here has got to be one of the greatest autistic stims I’ve ever seen in all of my life time. Actions that clearly scream “I am acoustic” and it is hilarious.
Yes
I have once again arrived in time to defend our lovely Librar from a nasty giggleshitting.
Hold the line, brothers. Hold fast until dawn.
10:46 goofy librarian laugh
10:48 *music player in the background:* You forgot me 😢
46:12 pretty sure those are the awards from the old Facepunch forums. btw that iPhone model was made before the iPhone came out on market.
56:58 ROBOTNIK!
"You remember when malls used to be fun instead of sad?"
Boy howdy....
That map looks like the CS one named BLAHHH.
That secret was a part of a level in castlevania 64.
love your content bro it helps me sleep
You should explore rp City 24 v3 if you haven't already, that'd be exquisite.
aha ahaha that "test chamber" as you call itat 1:24:00 ish is DOOM E1M1's first room, writ small
10:44 it's a silent disco 😆
I'm gonna giggleshitter you librar
Te joy from all the Alan Wake and Control refrences now on the channel!
9:02 *You wanted to see me, boss?* (x4)
13:37 _"Hey, Vsauce, Michael here!"_
I’m so happy
The 2nd map reminded me of Yume Nikki, you should definitely play it if you havent already.

That's an Eren Jaeger moment!
Garry's Mall was in the Sonic Zombie series.
21:44 good for her
Ey man if you ever want to use a mod in your gmod exploration videos that really makes you feel like you are being watched try The Dark One for ANP base
7:07 - isnt that the same door sound that is used in VOTV.
40:06 Is that the map from Sonic Zombies?!
OOOO goddamn! 1:17:46
1:17:38 HE'S HIMMM!!!!
Too cute
